    • @beautifulspirit7420
      @beautifulspirit7420 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Also it looks almost certainly better for the environment by using many traditional building methods and local materials. This is exactly what the west is now trying to emulate. If Ghanaians just stopped and reflected on the beautiful built heritage they have and use those it would be better than emulating architecture which is not in sympathy with the culture and natural environment. I think in many cultures (not just those in Africa) "tradition" has been associated with poverty. So unfortunately people abandon some of the techniques and styles that are so unique and successful for a bland "western" style. This happened in Ireland for example where traditional stone cottages were abandoned for modern bungalows/ranch houses. Then more recently those cottages have been extremely popular for their natural insulation and local materials and building methods.

    • @whitneyshiphrah56
      @whitneyshiphrah56 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@beautifulspirit7420 wow dear thank u for this comment. I feel like people have always used this idea of Africans building with mud and straw to associate us with being stupid. There's nothing wrong with western style buildings but we can all tell that topsoil and cement is the reason why our soil is being damaged. The past years my mom has taught me so much of the knowledge of Africans and how we always created in convenience to our environment and its habitats.

      @@ADE-of-LAGOS The Nigerian population is far from docile. Don't like it when people attribute docility to Africans. People forget that most of the wars that were fought in 20th century Africa were only tribal on the surface, but at their roots, they were expressions of peoples dissatisfaction with societal conditions brought about by their governments. That is per contra to docility. Try doing what you expect them to do, and tell us how it goes.

    Maya, as the Ike's place is all about african way of cooking, maybe they could also use our natural leaves like Waakye leaves/ Ewe Eran or Elewe leaf (Thaumatococcus Daniellii) to rap the fish when grilling instead of that Alluminium Foil (metallic). The leaves would also give an added good taste to the fish.

    Please share with the people who think the United States is heaven even many Ghanaians are stuck here and feel like they cannot go home because they cannot build big places like this and they are too ashamed for staying in the United States so long and coming back with nothing. Do United States is not heaven I am a white American woman married to a Ghanaian man when I visited GHANA for the first time in 2018 I came home and told my husband we must move there we cannot stay in the United States. The way of life with entrepreneurship and the way people care about each other and the family structure is intact From my perspective the way I felt so much better physically and mentally I believe the Ghanaians have a treasure that they do not realize it is priceless The Lord willing in a couple of years when we have situated things and make our permanent move there I pray you will interview us and we also will tell our story. By saying to all black people around the world who are serious in investing in Africa that they are welcome.
