I did this a few weeks back on our Scotch. I found it difficult in cutting a few of them because I was cutting sooo much off. My fault because I did not take care of the double leaders sooner. Looking good Phil.
I still don't feel like I have a good handle on dealing with the scotch. We'll be shearing in a week or two so I'll update on those trees here real soon
How well do Cypress trees do once they are cut and placed in a home? We tried to sell a similar looking tree back in the '70's (I can't remember what it was as we only had a few) but they turned yellow not long after people put them up in their homes.
Hi, very informative video. Great job. Is it safe to prune off the top like you did , and form a new leader from one of the choped branches? Will it stop or slow down growing, or a new top will grow normally and upwards? Thank you.
I cut the tops to slow height growth, which helps the trees get more full. Usually a new top grows fine. Sometimes I need to train a new top if it doesn't grow straight on its own. I'd say 80-90% do just fine without any extra help.
Thanks for asking. We have many things in stock already that we've sold on-site during our events, but I just haven't gotten around to putting them available online. I'll let you know as soon as I have it ready
OK so I got it started. I have more product I'm going to work on adding this weekend. We have jams/jellies and BBQ sauces too. I need to take inventory on hoodies because I know we still have some of those too, though I know we're getting out of hoodie weather right now LOL. Free shipping on orders over $60. woodstreefarm.square.site/s/order?shipping=true&item=257
I never grew Cypress so I know nothing about how they grow. At around the 8 minute mark you take out one of the leaders but leave the other on its own and say it should straighten out. With Scoth pines we would trim one of the competing leaders down a bit and use masking tape to combine the two and better center the preferred leader. Masking tape will hold on long enough to direct the growth but it eventually breaks as the tree grows.
Ever think about reaching out to landscapers for residential installations of cypress or other trees? May fill in the gap between. Holiday seasons? Looking good. 🎄🪵
Gracias por tus explicaciones y por enseñarnos, zona muy bonita😊

How are the spruces and pines doing?
Spruces are great and pines are mixed. I'll give an update on the pines in a week or two we'll be ready to start shearing
Any plans to sell merch? A hat would be cool.

Maybe in the future if we can get our inventory up.
