  • Quick & easy pebble art. This video tutorial shows how to transfer image onto stone step-by-step. This method works with black & white laser printouts. To my experience, color laser or inkjet images fail to transfer. U may use this tutorial to make decorative stones, pebble art projects, etc.

    Just an update: I did this today using my Brother brand black & white laser printer i purchased in 2013, using clear nail polish, rubbing alcohol and plain paper and it worked beautifully. I doubt most people commenting have black & white laser printers, it's not a super common thing but that is the key!

      Thank you so much for your comment! Yes, black and white laser printer is a key and old models work the best for this method.

    Hi I never comment on anything but had to this time....my daughter is doing a project for school and we've tired all kinds of ideas to transfer images to rocks or stones, and I have to say we came across this one and it worked. All we did was grab an old rock from outside,painted it was the clear polish about 5mins later soak pink printer paper in a bowl of crown royal and stuck it to the rock where the polish was and 1min later wow a picture. Now it wasn't perfect but to just grab things we had laying around it was very exciting to her. So I think it's pretty awesome!!!

      Yes, you can use transparent nail polish but I recommend to pour it into some container and use a wide paint brush. If you apply nail polish with a nail polish brush, transferred image can be damaged/smudged.

      Hello and sorry for the delayed reply. I didn't try mod podge myself but I'm sure you can use it instead of acrylic varnish. Mod podge is a mix of acrylic varnish and glue that's why it can be a good substitude.

      Oh, actually the problem may be with a laser printed image you have, it turned out that not all laser print-outs can be transferred :( My laser printer is pretty old, I guess modern printers may use different printing technique. Also the problem may be with alcohol you use, please don't use quality alcohol like vodka, use cheap alcohol like rubbing alcohol or cheap alcohol-containing medicine, they work fine.

    Do u think if I sealed the inkjet transfer with a sealant before placing it in the alcohol base before transfering that it would work? I read somewhere that if u seal the picture from an inkjet printer with clear sealer that it wont run

    Wow this is amazing. Does this work on other surfaces such as wood, plastic or glass? Will isopropyl alcohol work in getting the words off the paper?

    • @YouCanDoItCraft
      @YouCanDoItCraft  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hedera Helixis Yes, it works on any smooth surface but best for small area. It's not convenient to put clear nail polish to a big surface, the layer of nail polish should be even. To tell the truth I'm not sure about isopropyl alcohol, I think it may dissolve the nail polish layer, if not, it will work. Thanks for your comment!

    Hello, great info. You mention only laser printing works but, I also recall you mentioning a Zerox copy works. Can you clarify? Does it need to be a real Zerox copy machine or are you talking about say an all in one printer/scan/copy even if inkjet. As much as I am hoping I can use my inkjet all in one, print and then copy the image on the same machine and have it work, I am guessing it has something to do with the ink itself and not the machines print process. Thank you in advance!

    • @YouCanDoItCraft
      @YouCanDoItCraft  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure but I think if your machine is inkjet, this transfer method won't work. If you soak an image which is printed out on inkjet-based machine in alcohol, the image will get smudget and it will be impossible to transfer it :( Laser printers and machines that use toner not ink can give an image that can be transferred like I did. But of course you may try to use your machine, just give it a try and you''ll see, modern technologies do wonders :)

    Is that modge podge you used to stick the text to the rock

    • @YouCanDoItCraft
      @YouCanDoItCraft  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I applied a layer of clear nail polish to the rock, than soaked the image in cheap alcohol-based medicine (rubbing alcohol also works), put the image onto a rock (image down) and it transferred. It's important to use a black and white laser printer print-out or xero-copy. But modge podge method also should work, it's just a different technique.

      I guess the problem may be with printer. It must be black and white (not color) laser printer (toner based). Well, I tried combinations of laser and photocopied images with rubbing alcohol, boric acid alcohol, vodka.... nothing... it won't transfer. Can it be the clear nail polish... no... cause I tried it in on a rock with and without too. So disappointing. I think I'm going to have to paint and seal the rock.... unless you can think of something else that I haven't tried. Thanks!

    • @YouCanDoItCraft
      @YouCanDoItCraft  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for sharing your experience, Joanne. I think, the problem is with an image, I guess modern laser printers use different method to apply the ink and give a strong image that can't be transferred. I'm really sorry.

      If you mean to use varnish instead of clear nail polish, I would say no, I'm pretty sure it won't work. But you may try to use different kind of varnish instead of acrylic varnish to seal the result.

      Boric acid alcohol is a cheap alcohol containing medicin which I bought at a drug store. You can use any other alcohol containing liquid like rubbing alcohol which is widely available and also can be found at a drug store (pharmacy).

      I think, the problem may be with an image you printed. My laser printer is pretty old, I guess modern laser printers use different method to apply the ink and give a strong image that can't be transferred. The fact is some people succeed with the method I showed but some not :( I can only suppose that it depends on the printer, I tried with my black and white laser printer and it worked like magic. I also tried it with an image printed on color laser printer and it failed to transfer that's why I say to use black and white laser printer but I now guess that even black and white laser printers are different :(

      I have used a lazer printer from a local Printing business. Printed in black on white paper.

      I really hope this method will work for you! Also I would recommend to try rubbing alcohol or any cheap alcohol containing medicine, good vodka can be too good and mild for catching an image.

      Thank you for your feedback! I guess the problem is with printer. It must be black and white (not color) laser printer (toner based). There are lots of printer models nowadays and I can't guarantee that the images they produce can be transferred the way I show. My printer is pretty old and it works great for me.

      You Can Do It Craft я имел ввиду Акриловый лак.
      На истирание он самый хлипкий. Кроме того что он не разъедает тонер и акриловые краски плюсов не нашёл.
      Опять же, всё упирается в конкретное применение. Тест, применительно моего хобби, акриловый лак не прошёл.

      Спасибо за информацию, я с Вами совершенно не буду спорить. Я использую акриловый лак для закрепления красок, меня все устраивает. А какое Ваше хобби?

    • @user-og5nf7nf6f
      @user-og5nf7nf6f 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You Can Do It Craft ручной гравировкой увлёкся. Без пневмоштихеля. Чисто вручную штихелями.
      Требования к лаку у меня такие: быть прозрачным, намертво налипать на нижний слой лака (между слоями картинка как в ролике), не крошиться при резе, выдерживать небольшие нажимы на поверхность.
      Пока лидирует Цапонлак. Кстати, это и есть лак для ногтей, только разливается по большим ёмкостям и стоит в разы меньше. Он тоже не идеален, хотя пока лидирует по стойкости и другим параметрам. Попробуете его и точно оцените.
      Акцентирую, Цапонлак при нанесении мазками сотрёт тонер! Наносить можно и поверх тонера, но аккуратными капельками. Без надавливания на рисунок. Большой плюс, что Цапон легко растекается и очень быстро сохнет.
      П.С. Не берите цветной Цапонлак в пузырьках. На данный момент кроме прозрачного все остальные показывают нарушения в их производстве

    • @YouCanDoItCraft
      @YouCanDoItCraft  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Александр, большое спасибо за информацию! Про Цапонлак не знала, возьму на заметку, мне очень может пригодиться. Вам желаю развить хобби в нечто большее, гравировка это очень красиво, тем более ручная!
