Great video, I don't think I'd attempt removing my centre console with this video! I think I would have given up and not tried to wrap my centre console. I am going to give this a try this weekend. Once again, thank you for this video!
Great video. I use your video as a reference to change my broken cup holder. The face plate of the USB and AUX ports is made out of brittle plastic. It may rip off when prying from the front. (Mine did) It is best to push it out from the back and then disconnect the wires. Anyone changing just the cup holder, you do not have to remove the gear knob. Have someone tilt the console up after removing the the bolts and screws. Feel for five T20 screws that attaches the cup holder to the console.
Thanks for this. I have a C7 A7 and want to replace the dinged aluminium in the centre too. Already had the rear off before to fix the vent actuators in the rear. I 'm guessing once the whole unit is out I can then remove the centre trim (Wood in your case) and reverse. I was hoping it would be easier, though it doesn't look too involved - just make sure you don't miss any clips for wires I guess?
Hi, thanks for making this video. I have to replace the cover of the front coffee holder unit which is broken. Is there an easy way to get to that without going through removing the whole centre console unit.
Hi, at 4:19, that green cable connected to AMI is that from USB ports? I have no power suply on usb port. Replaced the unit and same story? Could it be a cable fault or MMI have some sort of power management disabled for that matter?
Bro good video! You showed everything clearly! I am also looking to swap my interior trims, have brushed metallic but it’s all scratched up and has little bumps in the centre console, do u recommend any repair/-replacement options?
Once the front tray is out, is it possible to remove the wood trim (main U shaped piece) without taking the whole centre console out? I'm looking to replace mine with brushed aluminium rather than a wrap
Jon, please let people know if you was able to take off the u shape cover without taking out of whole console. Need to replace my aluminum cover soon. too many scratches. Thanks.
I have a question I took off the shift knob once I replaced it back the release trigger to put it drive , reverse, neutral doesn’t spring to release it’s just spring at all how do you fix that
@@joomanski9636 I do not remember off the top of my head and I’m not with the car currently. I don’t mind updating when I get back to the car if that works.
@@joomanski9636 you have to remove the A pillars on both sides. Then you will see a screw under them remove these and the one in the middle and that should be it.
Great video, although for the gear knob, I would actually remove the leather dust cover from the console first and then unlock the gearknob and pull straight up without pressing the button. If the button is pressed whilst it is out of the shift stick, it will be hard to reset. Also its easier to unlock the gearknob without having to reach your hand between the wires etc.
@@aaronsibs you will have to take apart the shifter again. It has a locking mechanism inside that has to be set right so it all slides in correctly. Can’t remember if the button has to be open or not but I don’t have the car anymore to check unfortunately!
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to make this video. You are the man!

Very good video bro couldn't have made it simpler 👍 thanks

Finally a quality video on this
Hey man, nice video. I'm swapping to the S6 carbon trim. I'd love to see how you did the roof liner.

Thanks for the video. Is there any way you could get the front wooden panels out without taking the whole console out?
Hi bro i'm korean
I saw this video it was helpful
Thx :)
Great video very useful replacing my arm rest

I don’t believe so. It’s held in by securement from the underside if I remember right. But not 100% positive.

I dropped something in behind the cup holder door will doing all this get to that part ?
How the hell did you pull out that headliner?
Would this also work on a 2016 A6?
Do you plan on doing a video for the upper dash trim/HUD removal? This was a very simple but informative video. I'm hoping you have something on it.
I don’t exactly follow. Are you taking about the wood that wraps under the windshield?
@@behindthethreads325 yes

Did you ever do another video showing how to remove the other trim panels?
I have not. Which ones are you wondering about?

Hi, can anyone tell me if this is the same as a A6 7.5, looks very similar and have to do this job myself this week
I couldn’t answer that for sure but I would suggest they are built close to the same.
