Here in Philippines Toyota is a leading car brand because they make Cheap MPV, Crossover and Sedan by acquiring Daihatsu and branded here as Toyota while nissan offer only SUV and Pickup not all can afford that two categories.
It’s a pitty almost all companies stoped their product evolution at all to favor profit… Nissan and Honda had being selling the exact same projects for so long…
This is like yhe stelantis story. All big dying company joins together and dies together. Mitsubishi nissan and honda, once top brands, loved by people, has their own fan boys as we grew up, are all getting together to die together.
Nissan talked to Honda due to Foxconn's intent to buy Renault's some 23% share in Nissan. Foxconn is Apple's main iPhone assembler and having a dream of making EVs. Foxconn also plans to join Japan's SoftBank boss Mr. Song to apply Song's AI platform with his EV. It was the real intention behind the merger plan of Nissan a d Honda. There is no synergy or complementary between Nissan and Honda cars. The mere merging between Nissan and Honda is just a slight delay towards bankruptcy.
The volume curves for Nissan and Honda mirrors that for total global auto sales, meaning that their global market share may not have changed as much as looking at their volumes charts in isolation may suggest. Toyota likely had their highest global market share percentage ever last year. The lower yen has negatives as well, like using those yen to pay for raw materials and devaluation of their reserves/retained earnings (in $).
It's all come down to reliability and value.. 99% of buyers don't care about fancy gimmick technology and trendy design.... they only care about a good well built car with good craftsmanship along with an affordable price.... do that, and your cars will sell like Starbucks coffees
Starbucks did badly in Australia😁😁. Honda sold a grand total of about 1400 vehicles in October+ November here. HA needs to take a long hard look at the marketplace, dump their business model, trust their dealer network, up spec their vehicles to industry standard, improve their engines and drop their prices by at least $7,000. If they don't then the future of Honda in Australia is very bleak.
I use to love nissan in the 90s, their cars are still beautiful in 2024 but the cvt issue needed to be fixed 15yrs ago but they refused. By pleasing share holders they went and cut cost over and over with cheaper quality parts, the engines are decent but the cvt had to go. Hopefully if honda acquires nissan they will keep the nissan badge but use Honda transmission and engines but i know Nissan engineers are very stubborn
Nissan not only didn't develop EV nor hybrid series of any significance... Even their 3 cyl some kind of variable crank is not only more heavy variable parts butt had failed... Neither did Honda seriously did much accept lately selling Chinese model face lifted to look like Honda... Yet it's not an international model. Mistibushi is also in the dole drum... Better they all join together including Toyota....
Technically it's the inverter or motor that does the charging of the battery in a hybrid, but normal people don't care about. They just want reassurance they don't have to do any plugging in, and this is exactly why the term "self-charging" is so triggering for the EV weirdos. They identify so much with the cause that a rejection of EVs feels like a rejection of them. Toyota is in much better shape to help Nissan but they choose Honda to counterbalance Toyota which has become very dominant in the Japanese market.
I hope Honda acquires Nissan and not the other way around. I don't think Nissan has much to provide other than maybe electric vehicle knowledge.... That's out of date. I think very little of Nissan
Speaking on electric I've rented an Aryia, very nice car fun to drive but charging was terrible.... And the price isn't competitive. I would consider getting one when they count for the used EV tax credit

Toyota can swallow all 3 in 1 Svelte swoop

我笑了这些都是弱弱联合垃圾也改变不了日本还有这些对中国汽车威胁😅

Would you buy a new Nissan car right now? All these merger uncertainties make me reconsider my decision to buy a new Nissan Qashqai
How about German cars like Mercedes Benz or bmw ?
Unless the Japanese manufacturers can produce vehicles consumers want to buy otherwise they're going to go under.
