Deserving winner of ESC 2024!
Oslo 2025? Bergen? Stavanger? 🇳🇴
@@JarydReacts Trondheim😉
If not Trondheim, then I suggest Hamar, in the Viking ship arena 🤓
@@MassiveDestiny I reckon Trondheim as well.
no matter how many times I watch this its like im being spellbound! I cant explain it, but this entry DEMANDS attention!
10000%. I'd be lying if I said I didn't attempt those notes in the shower 😅
What in the rock ballad just happend?😂😂😂Gåte from Norway did ❤🇳🇴 Thank you so much🥰🙋🏻♀️
Hahaha title of my memoir 🤣 thanks for watching!
One of my favourites this year !
You have good taste!
Such a captivating entry from Norway, I'd be shocked if this fails to qualify
I think it's far too strong an entry to not qualify
There's literally no chance for Norway to not qualify
Vooote❤🇳🇴
They have Just qualified 9th of May
This is my favourite song this year! It gives me chills in a good way and their live performance has soooo much energy. Love them!
Thanks from Norway❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for watching! 😁
We will win! Gunnhild is a national treasure! ❤
👀🏆
You have to be a Norwegian to think this can win.
@@rinostellmacher5409 I think you need to do more research! 😊
@@the_oslovian What do you mean ? you,r not Norwegian ? :-)

Great reaction! Love Gåte. ❤💥💪
Thank you for watching! 😁
So Gåte's text is based on and distilled from an ancient ballad about a maiden who lost her mother when she was born, but later got a stepmother. The stepmother was so jealous of the girl that she transformed her first into a sword and placed it in the king's courtyard. However, the girl's inherent goodness also manifested in the sword, even though she had been changed into an object. All the finest knights and soldiers favoured this sword above all other swords, and the envious stepmother then transformed the maiden into a needle. The most skilled tailors loved this needle and sewed the most beautiful clothes with it. The stepmother grew even angrier and turned the girl into a wolf, cursing her to roam the forest forever, unable to rid herself of the wolf form unless she drank her brother's blood. And so it was. The maiden wandered through the woods. For eight years, the stepmother stayed indoors, afraid to venture out because she knew the wolf maiden was out there. But then she became pregnant and wanted to go to church. The wolf pounced on her, seized the stepmother's blue cloak, pulled her off her horse, tore out her heart, and drank her blood and thereby also her brother's blood. With that act, the curse and enchantment were lifted, and the maiden emerged, just as beautiful and kind as before, and returned home to her father.
Thank you for sharing all of that! Hoping we get a cameo by Subwoolfer too 🍌
Nice reaction! Gåte are outrageously good. This is not a performance, this is a whole experience. I love it so so much.
Thank you! Definitely an experience, immersed deep in it!
Now THAT’s a reaction! Well done, sir
Well thank you for watching!
Even though you don’t get the lyrics you do sense the darkness and dark magic.
This is the story of an orphaned girl that’s cursed by her stepmother to wear a wolf pelt and roam the forest alone until she drinks her brother’s blood.
Years later she encounters her stepmother in the forest and kills her. The stepmother is pregnant with a boy so the curse is broken at last.
And that pretty much sums up Eurovision! 👀🤣
The only reason Gåte didnt win with a landslide was because of the expert jury.
They are very popular here in Norway and when i heard they had entered Eurovision i knew they would win
Their concerts are amazing and i am so proud we are sending them
They perform well live, that's a good start for Eurovision!
@@JarydReacts They should lots of experience been performing for 20 years since Gunhild was 14.
Love it ❤

G Å T E 🥇❤️
Gåte, means riddle in English! The text is from a folk story from back in the middle ages!
Thanks for this great reaction🤘
I’m so proud that we’re sending Gåte to Malmö with this amazing song😍😍
Yes, the intro is an old “kulokk”, and the chorus is inspired by this “kulokk”
Ulveham (wolfskin)
[Sample: Vocalization; Marit Jensen Lillebuen]
[Verse 1]
I was such a beautiful maiden
My stepmother evil, my mother she died
She turned me into a sword and a needle
And sent me to the king's estate
And the anger my stepmother felt the most
That all the stately liked me best
[Chorus: Vocalization]
[Verse 2]
Then she gave me skin like a grey wolf
She cursed me to walk the forest alone
And never will I bе whole and good
Before I drink my brothеrs' blood
[Chorus: Vocalization]
[Outro: Vocalization, Storm]
I then tore out her heart
So her blood flowed free
Then I got to drink my brothers' blood
Oh poor brother 😳 but thank you for sharing this haha
@@JarydReacts
Her stepmom was pregnant with her half brother, so therefore when she killed her stepmom (as a wolf) she drank her brother’s blood😉
I love your reaction. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
The last time with Norwegian lyrics in ESC was in 2006, the song Alvedansen by Christine Guldbrandsen
Yeah nearly 20 years ago now
Thanks for a great reaction!
We really appreciate it.🙏🏼
Fingers crossed for the semifinales tonight.
Greetings from Norway.🙋🏻♂️🇳🇴😊
No fear, it'll qualify in a landslide 😁
Its a pity that ppl does not listen in beforehand, this grows, as Switzerlands song. I did not like them at first but they are both great. Sweden? Very sweet norwegian twins, not bad, but to mainstream. Love your reaction ❤
Thank you for watching!
I agree! I think Norway has a good chance of winning this year❤
What she is doing is not a lokk, but a kauk. It's a very similar action, but kauking is between people while lokking is between a human and animals. She is not calling animals, but making her presence known, so it's a kauk. It's a bit esoteric though, so it's understandable that they just call it lokk, because that was used until much more recently.
Idk the Eurovision audience can be quite animalistic.. 🤔🤣
@@JarydReacts Probably a valid point and also this goes back to pre-Christian times and if I don't see a distinction between humans and animals today, I'm not so sure they would've either. Thinking about it now, it's quite possible that the distinction between kauking and lokking did not exist when the original song was written.
I wanted to say that I was impressed by your Norwegian pronunciation, but you got one thing wrong. It's not wolf's pelt, but wolf's clothing. The lyrics is really dark, but her step-mother transformed her into a wolf by a curse that would only be lifted when she drank her brothers blood. So she waited until her step-mother got pregnant and then drank her blood because that was the blood of her brother and her curse was lifted.
There are no Tinker Bells in Norwegian bedtime stories. It's all terror and gore, but I believe that the logic is to build trust without danger and I'm actually not sure that's wrong.
«There are monsters who only come out at night when you sleep and they want to feast on your flesh. Goodnight and sleep well. I will keep you safe».
by far dark horse
🐴 racing to the final!

Tusen hjertelig takk ❤❤❤

Thank you, Jaryd!
Any time!
The violin-like instrument is a "Nyckelharpa" - Epic song!! Greetings from Denmark.
Thank you! Greetings from the UK! 👋🏼
GAATE has been a hidden treasure for many years
💰💰💰 I'm happy to enjoy them from now on!
I like that you actually know the tale going in to this. Thanks 🙏
Thank you!
We are very proud to deliver to Europe a proper rock band that has been doing this for over 20 years (in fact, I saw them for the first time in 2001!). Mixing folk, rock, electronica and pop in the most spellboundingly genuine way. This is music.
Spellbound is so right 🔥
12 points!!!
Nice i.t crowd reference
👀
Yeah, su reaction es mi rection. 😂 I adore this.
Seriously, what you said is word-for-word how I feel
HONESTLY, this is the only song I sing in the shower these days!
@@JarydReacts Lucky you, I'm forbidden from singing.
That part where you did not see that coming, is the ku-lokk. The rest is the story.
Thank you for pinpointing what you appreciated. After getting the least points, it is good to know..
Least points in the Grand Final, but still better than the Semi Finalists 😅
@@JarydReacts I liked your commenting on the staging and the camera-focus. I wonder if it was slightly better in the national finals. Somehow, I got tired of those hurricane waves repeating themselves in the Grand final. A storm is supposed to pass, not go on repeat. Storms and hurricanes are one-time-events in their effects. The original staging had more variation.
You know how to react, and your norwegian was so good.
Aha thank you! 😁
Good react!
Thank you!
I am from Norway. I understand most of the song but not all
Since you liked this, I suggest you look into their back catalogue. They've been around for a while. Look up "Svartebok" or "Kom no Disjka". Or both.
Thank you, I'll check it out!
"Margaret Burger" 😂🍔

Ireland next they are ninth in the odds to win also great reaction
On the way 😉🇮🇪
Ireland won't even qualify
@@mikolaj4029 Or it might do. We'll see.
@@Eva-mp7xg we will see that it won't, come back to this after SF1
@@mikolaj4029 Currently odds say it will, in the comfortable 7th place.
Im from Norway but i not understend wat she sey
just listen and talk after jaryd.. sry but I can not get a grip of the song with someone talking all the time and talking more about how it looks then the musik.. This is why the eurovision got boring and died, musik is not in focus anymore...
Have to talk or else they copyright and take down the video, if you want to listen to the music, please watch the official music video 😊
@@JarydReacts ok then sorry that is sad it works that way with copyrights
