I didn't notice it until you mentioned it either! Meanwhile, I was going to comment "oh bot you do get warm fuzzy feeling inside for helping people!" in response :D
two answers to that: Father Antonio is lazy and only speaks Latin conversationally, enough to get by with his work and no more. Or, the Latin is substantially older than what would be spoken in Vatican. Because even though it is a dead language, theres still changes if we compare it from the Pre-Christian times, to the 5th century
Eh, look, I'm deeper in than the video series is. And there's Latin and then there's different eras of Latin. It's such a small thing that it didn't bother me at all.
"But in the Latin alphabet, Jehovah begins with an I. Oh dear." Old Latin didn't have a J, Middle Age Latin added it in. So yeah, different Latins. Hence Indy would have a J to step on and fall through the floor.
Planetary symbols on the bottoms of the statues. Peter with the Key is Mars, Mars (♂︎, ♂). Paul with the Sword is Uranus and Mercury (⛢, ☿). If you go by the order of the solar system, the code is 4, 4, 7, 1.
It honestly amazes me that most people know the saying "men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, they know the symbols for "Female" (Venus) ♀and "Male" (Mars) ♂, but they don't have a clue that those are related. Admittedly it's niche these days but it's weird.
Jingles - going back to the previous episode, there are cats at the Vatican. Fr Robert Ballecer SJ has a TH-cam channel showing his care & feeding a feral cat colony that lives at the Vatican. Known as the Vaticats, the group includes cats with names like Picard and Riker.
Fun fact: My intro to archaeology professor assigned us to watch the first Indiana Jones movie and describe at least 5 violations of the Society for American Archaeologists' code of ethics. I didn't even make it through the temple scene before I had everything I needed. I think the math came to about 1 violation every 45 seconds
They've done a great job on those catacombs indeed, and made them look as if they've been in use over the millennia. Classic roman script, the use of the chi-rho sign (40:25 and earlier) referring to the period of the adoption of Christianity by the Romans, a reference to Ascalon and 1099, which I believe to be the cumulation of the first crusade and the diary not from the 12th century.
Was sad enough to cross reference with the Vatican on Google maps and the dig is 'just' a tarmac courtyard, possibly the papal parking lot. Although since it's between the Apostolic Palace and the Basilica of St Peter, there probably is a fair bit of juicy archaeology underneath it.
Sorry for your loss of your sweet kitty. My Tiger passed away 4 years ago September. He was only 12. Kidney failure. I miss my buddy dearly. Never stops hurting. Just hope to see him on the other side.
Happy Christmas Jingles. This really does strike me as a great "Christmas" game. Nothing taxing, no need to overthink anything. Faithful to the Indie tradition and entertaining to watch as a playthrough. Pure Xmas escapism.
This video was a lot of fun to watch. 12-23-24 and a Merry Christmas to you Jingles. You've helped make me the man I am today and Im forever grateful for you.
Tarot card "a chariot drawn by a Black Sphinx". I: "Why would a sphinx draw a pict... ohh." Those symbols are alchemical/astrological symbols. I think Venus or Mercury and Mars but I'm not sure. Aaand Antonio is back to being Ernesto. That pile of guards was outside camera focus so of course it ceased to exist. Fun scene.
the trick to the lanterns on the skeleton statues has to do with the inscriptions you take photos of, you get a makeshift weapon out of it so its a interesting puzzle but not super rewarding
Jingles: Thank Goodness You're Here! I'm glad you're still posting videos. And while you're at it, how about another video of you playing more of that hilarious game "Thank Goodness You're Here!"? Thank you in advance. - A loyal Salt Miner
In Giza make sure you get the cigarette lighter from a vendor. You can light torches, dynamite, use as a torch when none are available. You get adventure points for burning propaganda posters.
30:00 If they only added the 'shut up' companion option in the options menu. I can imagine seeing the companion coming along with a piece of duct tape strapped over their mouth! 😆😆😆
10:53 I have no idea why it was this scene when I realized Father Antonio was played by Enrico Colantoni. Maybe it was the lighting that made me go "Wait...that's Carl Elias!"
The symbols are the Greek letters for the planets. The circle with the horns is Mercury, the circle with the dot is Uranus, the circles the the arrows are Mars and the two balls in my pockets are Dez.
I call shenanigans over the five wounds of Christ during the Crucifixion (Traditionally over 5000 for the entire Passion; that includes His flogging and each thorn in the crown of thorns). The order given is hands, feet, and spear, suggesting 1, 2, and 3.
Good day Mr Jingles I was curious as to you're position concerning the revised assessment of TOG 2 by the tank museum. Will you be asking for the WOT appraisal and consequent stats settings for the RN land cruiser to be updated regarding at least it's manoeuvrability and main gun. After all even the tank museum have apparently mis identified the main armament as a 17pndr when it was in fact a 28pndr a considerable increase of firepower for the old gal especially if it keeps it's current tier.
Jingles, you keep mentioning "it's busy work but it doesn't feel like busy work" all that videogames are is just busy work, so like, yes, there's gameplay in the videogame. The only difference between good gameplay and "busy work" is whether it's boring or not.
The more I see of this game the more I want to play it. The bad thing is this game is gonna be expensive one because of that hardware RT requirement, my 1660 Super doesn't have RT cores since it's a cut down 20-series Turing die. If only there was a way to circumvent that RT requirement, but from what I've heard the game just plain doesn't boot if you don't have a card with RT cores.
Hey old man, don't think we didn't notice you cutting the recording at 36:07 to hide the fact you got confused between Jesus holding the bread, "body of Christ", with his *right* hand and the spear that *wounded* him in his side. So how long did it actually take you to piece that rocket science together? An old dog may not learn new tricks, but a sneaky fox will always try to hide his stumblings... Anyways, happy holidays to our generous Gnome Overlord!
If the sequel to The Mummy the one with Brendan Fraser. Don't go sticking your hands into any strange holes. Cause you could wind up losing the hand like that priest that was with Imhotep when he sticks his arm in the hole with the bracelet of Anubis on it.
About disk space - I recently bought myself an USB adapter and took some old HDD disks out of my old computer to use as external disks. HDD may be outdated, but extra storage never hurts - why let those old disks collect dust if I can still put them to use :)
Point of interest.... The Chi-Rho (X on the stem of P) is Roman Christian. Mostly Eastern, but Christianity came out of the Eastern part of the Empire.
You may even find things in Rome that pre-date the Romans themselves. From when Italy was inhabited by different tribes of people. Before they either banded together to become the Romans or were conquered by them.
The site of the Vatican was old before the first St Peter's basilica was built, and that one was replaced by the current one when it was well over 1000 years old. The reason St Peter's was built there was because there were catacombs in the region in the 1st century AD and St Peter was buried there. The high altar is on the site of his tomb. So the catacombs are Roman, but Roman does not mean pre-Christian. There were plenty of Christian Romans particularly from the reign of Constantine in the early 4th century (who built the first St Peter's Basilica). The symbol to look for the the chi-rho - its an X and P on top of each other, you can just see it at 39:47. It's the first 2 letters of Christ in the Greek alphabet and was used more than the cross by the Christian Romans, because the crucifix was still a symbol of punishment for heinous crimes to the Romans
The Underworld looked mostly Christian to me although repurposing of a Roman building is also likely. Thing is there was nothing Pagan anywhere in the ossuary to indicate anything other than early Christian. The Constantine cross or Chi Ro was used by the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great (r. 306-337 AD) as part of a military standard (although it had been used earlier the fact it appears next to the Jerusalem Cross would seem to indicate its Christian origins). The Jerusalem Cross, one big gross and four smaller ones, was used by the Kings of Jerusalem from the 1250s (maybe earlier but no evidence). The Shrouded Skeleton Statues looked 1500s) and the ossuary could also have been just Christian as well - go to the Paris ossuary to see how huge they can get and all Christian.
Yea jingles throughout the years I realize that even though you are playing the game and sometimes give useful information, you also have no idea what you are talking about sometimes and I think that's what makes the commentary worth it.
I've got a feeling that Father Antonio is going to betray the shit out of Indy.... I haven't played this game, mind you, but that dude is way too nice. He's dirty....
Here I was thinking after a long hard day at work I would have a WofW or WoT viedos waiting for me! Jingles you are like a date who doesn't put out! Ten days now! This will have to do! my 70 year old mother likes your laught though! she watches your vdeos all the time.
O its dark ... there is a fire to light the text ... Oh it's not important ? ... going around the photo icon showing .. no need for a picture....its dark ... light the candle?
History Question (Spoilers) In the old roman tomb thats supposed to be pre-christian, why is there the symbol with the P and the X (cross) over it? Isn't that a christian heraldry adopted by constantine?
Jingles, you keep presenting "roman" and "christian" as mutually exclusive, but they can coexist. In fact they did, and they did even before the two imperial edicts of 313 and 333 a.C.. What are you exploring are roman catacombs, the first of which were re-discovered by chance in 1578; you can clearly see early christian roman iconography on the walls, like the Ichtus (the fish) and the Chi-Rho (X and p superimposed) symbols. The game placing Father Crescenzo and his writings in that year is no coincidence.

“You don’t get anything for doing them” jingles says as he gets 10 adventure points for getting a book down for a nun 😅
I didn't notice it until you mentioned it either!
Meanwhile, I was going to comment "oh bot you do get warm fuzzy feeling inside for helping people!" in response :D
The wife just said that 😂, but but but, actually Jingles you got 10 adventure points 😅
"your latin is better then mine" from a priest in Rome in the 1930s when latin was the official spoken language of the church, still? YEAH, SURE.
two answers to that:
Father Antonio is lazy and only speaks Latin conversationally, enough to get by with his work and no more.
Or, the Latin is substantially older than what would be spoken in Vatican. Because even though it is a dead language, theres still changes if we compare it from the Pre-Christian times, to the 5th century

You get nothing from the nun for giving her the book apart from 10 adventure points
And for the photo of Fr Antonio later on.
Seems like in addition to adventure points being silently added, similar actions could presumably change NPC dialog in future conversations.
Planetary symbols on the bottoms of the statues. Peter with the Key is Mars, Mars (♂︎, ♂). Paul with the Sword is Uranus and Mercury (⛢, ☿). If you go by the order of the solar system, the code is 4, 4, 7, 1.

Jingles looks at a "Chi-Rho" one of the most ancient Christian symbols and says, "That's not Christian..." Never change, my man, never change :-)
I mean, its pretty obscure these days
@@Kaarl_Mills Really? It is almost as ubiquitous as a cross especially in liturgical churches, such as Roman, Anglican, Lutheran, etc.

16:00 Lmao 10 adventure points for adding to the Nuns spank bank
Look, when youre dealing with the Vatican and this sort of thing, youre just happy that the people involved are both adults
Jingles opening doors to the conservatory: Where is Antonio??

Morning guys.
My Cat Luna died at the age of 20 last saturday.
Hope your kitties are doing fine guys, give them a cuddle.
That's sad - best wishes for you and sorry about your loss.
Rip kitty, sorry for ur loss, hope her, boo, and my doggy found each other and are playing up there. Or taking a lazy nap.
Sorry for your loss of your sweet kitty. My Tiger passed away 4 years ago September. He was only 12. Kidney failure. I miss my buddy dearly. Never stops hurting. Just hope to see him on the other side.
My condolences.
So sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is like losing a family member.
Apart of the HW requirements, I like the game. Thank you Jingles for streaming this.
Happy Christmas Jingles. This really does strike me as a great "Christmas" game. Nothing taxing, no need to overthink anything. Faithful to the Indie tradition and entertaining to watch as a playthrough. Pure Xmas escapism.
But traditionally, Indiana Jones games offered much more challenging puzzles which I am missing a lot here.
This video was a lot of fun to watch. 12-23-24 and a Merry Christmas to you Jingles. You've helped make me the man I am today and Im forever grateful for you.
Indy looks like a bloody American tourist wandering around with his camera!
Almost each picture you take with your camera gives you adventures points.
A lot of stuff you titled roman is still christian, those two aren't mutually exclusive. There were a lot of christian markings on those walls.

I admit- I'm enjoying these Vacation Playthroughs. This game looks intriguing! I'm liking the story line.
Jingles, giving pictures to people (and other small tasks) give you 10 xp, so there is an incentive to do it.
I wish my wine bottles contained that much!
At this point, jingles taking a "vacation" is just an excuse to play what he feels like. Im all for it tho

In the old roman tomb thats supposed to be pre-christian, why is there the symbol with the P and the X (cross) over it? Isn't that a christian heraldry adopted by constantine?
