Something I haven't seen mentioned that is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT are the people like me who cannot detox properly in a normal amount of time. We with MTHFR genetic mutations have it way worse. And we cannot use Glutathione to help or anything with Sulphur for detoxing. I feel like I'm losing my mind. My brain is damaged from this. Please look into this because these psych Dr's DO NOT GET IT. Thank you for what you do !!!
Me too, and for my family, who lost their Mom, and now risk losing their brother. It's been eight years since my meds were brutally withdrawn to cover the prescribing doctor's ass. I was prescribed high doses of opiates, Adderall, and so much more. These drug companies destroyed us, and our lives.
Me too, not only from benzo but from Cymbalta. These have been complete hell. I can't even taper Cymbalta anymore. I'm stuck on 32 beads. The Dr is tapering me too quickly on the benzo and she completely ghosted me when I sent her a message about the side effects. I haven't slept over a solid hour a night and I cannot even drive my car. My life has been destroyed by these.
Some of our concerns with the guidance: 1. The entire post-withdrawal protracted experience is ignored. Providers and patients need this information to understand the stakes and participate in informed consent during the deprescribing process. 2. It is not clear enough that physical dependence on prescribed benzodiazepines is not an addiction problem. 3. Shared decision-making requires full informed consent, including the risks and benefits of both continuing and discontinuing prescribed benzodiazepines. Most serious long-term risks of cessation are absent from the guidance. 4. Inpatient tapers are rapid and too fast for most patients. Facilities in the United States capable of facilitating a slow inpatient taper do not exist. Abrupt cessation or overly rapid cessation leaves the patient vulnerable to years of protracted symptoms. 5. The starting taper range of 5-25% every 2 weeks is too large and fast for many patients. It should be no more than 5-10% every 4 weeks initially and can be adjusted based on patient response. 6. The description of tapering strategies is insufficient and assumes preexisting knowledge that most providers do not possess. It needs to address strategies such as tolerance, interdose withdrawal, kindling, and liquid micro-tapering. Patients need their prescribers to know more than just how to break a pill in half.
Thank you so much for outlining these, and the clear information which has enabled me to submit my comment/feedback on their draft. The draft is clear testament to the ways in which the 'industry' is captured/invested in perpetuating harm for profit. Their fortnightly 25% decrease is exactly the rate and duration that caused my persisting BIND injury, before I found better information and slowed it down (18 months on/ 6 month taper/4 years incapacitated by BIND). That they keep at arms lengths those in the benzo-harmed community including health professionals who know better, is so truly indicative of how they seek to serve the interests of people who are not the patients&victims of this ongoing harm.
Almost 6 & a half yrs off clonazepam. Still have some bad symptoms some sleep issues sensitivities musculoskeletal issues burning skin from time to time vision problems food and scent sensitivities. But overall getting better. I hope this goes away for good one day. Its really unbelievable this can happen. Honestly it seems intentional. At 74 yrs old and on BZD for 40 years, there is no "safe tapering" for me. I am at high risk for seizures. I am also going through fluoroquinolone toxicity syndrome and the way FQ's fight for control over the GABA receptors have put me in a state of almost constant anxiety. I depend upon the BZD to stop me from throwing myself through a window. I don't think there are ANY protocols or procedures that can safely and effectively address a taper in my situation.

@@MichaelVereeke thank you Michael, l am tapering lorazepam which is absolutely horrific, it never really worked for me, but l was also prescribed SSRIs year ago to try Zoloft, lexapro , Paxil and switching worsened my condition completely. I stopped SSRIs but still dealing with lorazepam. I guess if you are otherwise healthy person you should be ok with slow taper,They say listen to your body.

I was on three one milligram tablets of alprazolam for over 19 years. I’m Benzo free now for 5 months after a 14 month slow taper. Don’t get yourself all freaked out by everyone’s comments. It’s doable and you can do it. Good luck.
@@DelKidd don’t let these people scare you into thinking that it’s not obtainable. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was fortunate enough to be able to hide in my bedroom for 12+ months only coming out for bathroom breaks and an occasional bite to eat. Don’t let your food intake get to low because building it back up is difficult. Otherwise you can do it. The thing that kept me away from attempting a taper was everyone’s brutal comments that were psyching me out, don’t let them! You can do it. Good luck and if I can help I will.

How comes there seems to be loadsa help and understanding in USA but here in UK . Theres no help for long term addicts n were frowned upon by the majority of DRs...This medication has give me depression and anxiety. Over 10 years in onn hidh doses. I see no light at the end..

It's a transparency requirement in case someone is receiving funds from pharmaceutical companies. Patients don't even have to use real names. It's not a big deal.

But I said that makes no sense because why would anyone from a pharmaceutical company want anyone to stop taking their drugs? Yes, pls go alot slower. 1mg a week is way too fast. Try cutting the tablet in half, then in a quarter. That is how I'm doing it after being on them for 24 yrs.🙏

They did not make this easy on people who are cognitively impaired and really ill, if i am able to even do any of this, is the disclosure done only one time? In what order? Do you have to leave your comments first and then fill out the disclosure, does it need done each time? Im so angry they have made this so difficult, even though so many are suffering, i dont know how many can actually do this or have the capability.:(
The disclosure is not 80 something questions. It's like 2-3, unless you have something to disclose. As explained in the above video, it only needs to be done once.
This is how I feel, but pls just keep going!!! In order to get OUT you need to go THROUGH. It's very tough, bit we've got to all fight to live. Justice will be served, in due time, don't worry.
Recently got some clonazepam (5 tablets) to relax me while idiots around me burn their money noisily for Independence Day. I'm very thankful these drugs exist for helping folks in the short term. I've educated myself enough to know that they were never meant to be prescribed long term and going that route usually leads to a nightmare of dependency and needing higher doses.

It's a transparency requirement in case someone is receiving funds from pharmaceutical companies. Patients don't even have to use real names. It's not a big deal.
@@BzInfoCoalition wow I just left a long reply and I pushed the wrong keys and lost everything. But I said that makes no sense because why would anyone from a pharmaceutical company want anyone to stop taking their drugs? And then I wrote a lot about how I am suffering myself in tapering but I simply cannot get it back up in my head again.... I said I probably am a bit salty because of my tapering status...I do not think this should be required but I will do it since I know that anyone anywhere at anytime can find out anything about me and about any relationship I have. That is just the way it is now. This is unnecessary I think. But I will do it when I can get my head together. I did write about my suffering and how I am suffering but I have not the energy or the memory to do so. they know enough about me and you and everyone already. I am tired of their tyranny I suppose. That is what I feel it is. That has been my experiences with psychiatry...tyranny.

Im tapering slowly , 1mg every week , diazepam currently at 17 MG I'm not too sure if I'm ready for it, any tips or advice ?

Yes, pls go alot slower. 1mg a week is way too fast. Try cutting the tablet in half, then in a quarter. That is how I'm doing it after being on them for 24 yrs.🙏
holy cow, the disclosure is 80 something questions???? They did not make this easy on people who are cognitively impaired and really ill, if i am able to even do any of this, is the disclosure done only one time? In what order? Do you have to leave your comments first and then fill out the disclosure, does it need done each time? Im so angry they have made this so difficult, even though so many are suffering, i dont know how many can actually do this or have the capability.:(
The disclosure is not 80 something questions. It's like 2-3, unless you have something to disclose. As explained in the above video, it only needs to be done once.

This is how I feel, but pls just keep going!!! In order to get OUT you need to go THROUGH. It's very tough, bit we've got to all fight to live. Justice will be served, in due time, don't worry.
Recently got some clonazepam (5 tablets) to relax me while idiots around me burn their money noisily for Independence Day. I'm very thankful these drugs exist for helping folks in the short term. I've educated myself enough to know that they were never meant to be prescribed long term and going that route usually leads to a nightmare of dependency and needing higher doses.
Are you rubbing this in our faces? We thought we could trust that our doctors wouldn’t prescribe us a medication this dangerous without first letting us know of its dangers.
