    I found you because I am starting my career in tech sales this week. Even though this video is about you leaving, it still made me very excited about my new position. I don’t see myself in sales forever but like you said I think it will open some doors as I am starting my career. I am also okay with working in a position just to make ends meet. I feel very confident now with your rating of 7 out of 10. Subscribed!

    It's so lovely to see an Asian woman talking about tech sales, makes me feel a bit better about the career since that's extactly me. Im right out of university and been offered a tech sales job. I am worried that this job will limit me from other career paths. In your video, you did explain that is a great first job and opens your career to many pathways. Would kind of jobs would this include specfically?

    • @ricezhangg
      @ricezhangg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally think sales experience is always good to have on your resume & wont ever "work against you" if that makes sense? haha In terms of specific careers, I think sales naturally can transition into anything client facing (consulting, customer success, etc) or even commercial operations, project management, business development, etc! I dont think this will limit you (unless you work in sales for 10+ years which might make the transition difficult to explain)!~

    Your company doesn’t cold call? That’s a first. What’s their reasoning if you don’t mind sharing?
    I also left my BDR role at Salesforce. I too was tired of the mundane work, the quota carrying role, and overall feeling like I was just a cog in the wheel. Sure, every job/role is the cog in the wheel to different degrees, but this one felt different. It felt like the true hamster wheel role.

    • @ricezhangg
      @ricezhangg  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the reasoning was that a lot of people are working remotely and the decision makers dont usually (happily) engage in unsolicited phone calls haha BDR at salesforce sounds awesome! but i definitely agree its probably not a good role forever. The more I work, the more I hate the thought of just being a cog in the wheel forever too. I feel like at this stage Im hoping to just learn as much as possible and then maybe start something of my own a few years down the line! How about yourself?

      Hey there! In terms of looking for jobs, I recommend optimizing ur linkedin & applying directly there. If you have an alumni network, it would also be good to reach out to alum & ask for a referral. In terms of a resume, I would try to include key words you see repeating on the job listing such as "ability to effectively communicate" etc. so that if the company has any sort of resume a filtering software, your resume will go through. Hope this helps!~

    Can you teach me the pitch or maybe write it on here so that I could possibly use it or take from it it would really help me as I’m also going in tech sales after I take the boot camp thanks so much

    • @ricezhangg
      @ricezhangg  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Unfortunately the pitch heavily depends on the product you are pitching. However I will say that the most effectively pitch always starts by addressing how exactly your product will help to solve a specific problem or challenge your customer is having and relating that back to how that translates into money haha. For example, a software might help save time by ______, but ultimately this helps to save money by increasing the effectiveness of _____ . Try to always map the customer journey and why a customer might want to adopt your product. Hope this helps!

    • @ricezhangg

    • @ricezhangg

      Haha I prefer not to disclose the name publicly, but I will say that in my experience Ive encountered a decent number of life science related companies (both tech & life science instruments) that dont actively do a ton of cold calling. I think within life sciences a least theres a pretty big emphasis on going to conferences & making connections there!~
