In this episode I explore Japan's ancient city Kyoto, famous for its beautiful temples and shrines, Kyoto retains all the charm of old era Japan, being the former capital for some 1000 years, and is a great city to visit to understand Japanese culture and heritage. I visit famous temples and shrines including Kiyomizu-dera temple in the old Higashiyama neighbourhood, the golden Kinkakuji-temple and Fushimi Inari Shrine, explore the geisha neighbourhood of Gion, eat in the atmospheric downtown district of Pontocho Alley, try Japanese desserts at Nishiki market and experience the traditional kaiseki way of dining!

Korea video is showing Korean culture, if you pay close attention you’ll learn a lot about Korean traditions and values i.e. the culture of gathering together called “hueshik”, the respect for the elders in gestures like turning their head side ways when drinking in front of an older person, the love of old school Korean food and drinks instead of copying the west, the old school pojangmachas which have a sense of nostalgia especially for older Koreans like the senior Korean man I go with, their love of seafood and how integral it is to the daily Korean table, even the role convenience stores play in the daily lives of Koreans as a place to be social! All these things paint a very real picture of their culture, and if you notice I am only with local Koreans, sometimes much more wholesome than simply visiting touristic monuments, being surrounded by tourists and giving historical facts. I like to mix it up 😊🙏
