Great video. I'm so glad I was able to get the Brother Magnetic Hoop with my new machine

This is fine and well but it won't fit on my BL Ellisimo Gold II that I bought new in 2014. I have the Monster hoop & get finger smashed withit at least once every time I use it! Lol
Probably wouldn't ever hang a hooped fabric up b its side and shake it.

Brother! I have wasted a chunk of money on a large Dime hoop. I couldn't use it with jackets as it didn't hold them down. And even though I kept it on the plastic sheet, the magnet seems to have lost power. Never again.

Can I get that Brother magnetic hoop in smaller sizes like 5x7?

Angela Ellison - They do not have a smaller one

I know your question was asked a year ago. Brother does have a 5x7 hoop now. I don't think the magnetic hoops work on all machines, so do check before purchasing one for your machine.

I called DIME and they sent me a set of measurement labels after I cut mine incorrectly.
I think you can order their hoops from them; also Embroidery Library.

I said no. That is if you were talking about the brother frame. You can use the other hoop with Stellaire.

Yes they do work on the Stellaire XE1, but you may have to do an upgrade. I have the Stellaire XE1and it works on my machine, after the upgrade.

Have obtained one and after updating the software on my machine it is now ready to go. This magnetic frame looks really strong and has been beautifully engineered it seems. Bring on the next size I will be saving my pocket money to buy it.

Much more effort if your embroidery shifts around and your project is ruined. Been there with a costly and useless Dime hoop.

These hopps are safe on the embroidery machines because they are not that close to them. If they ruined people's machines, they wouldn't be as popular as they are.

I have a 4 inch Dime magnetic hoop/frame and it's HOPELESS - totally impossible to know where the two parts, top and bottom, line-up. Also it rips the top piece from your grasp as soon as you attempt to accurately place it down onto material, stabiliser and hidden bottom-metal-frame. No chance of accurate hooping or even flat-material without pulling it all over the place...
I was going to get the Brother version with those individual magnets - but watching you struggle like mad with them BOTH whilst trying desperately to say how good they are is the final straw - they're BOTH useless!
You were pulling frantically on your fabric (quilt) just to get it flat let alone to align it! The tensions and stretch on the fabric and stabiliser (if embroidering not quilting) is obvious from this video - a total mess!
Back to my 'normal' Brother V3's hoops - at least I know where the alignment is and that it's visibly going to stay that way! These magnetic hoops seem to be rubbish as they are now. Why not have the top part hinged so that placement is always accurate (i.e. the top and bottom parts always go together exactly aligned with each other) and a grid like the 'ordinary' hoops have for alignment -
One-time waste of a LOT of money on the Dime junk (they're very expensive indeed) is enough for me - NEVER AGAIN. Take my advice - stay away from these awful things, it's easier to wrestle an octopus than use one of these (either type) with any accuracy....

When I was filming this video, I had a camera between me and what I was filming. Certainly not a great setup and working with anything in my hands is awkward. Brother has hoops with lighter weight magnets that are easier to remove. I personally find it easier to work on my cutting table removing and replacing any magnets. Dime has some new hoop corners that help align the hoops. I do not have them but in concept they work very well. There are hoops as you describe which were made for continuous stitching of borders. This type of hoop is impractical for a quilt.

Hi, thanks for your reply - and thanks too for taking the time & effort to make this video in the first place, appreciated. I'm totally disappointed with the product - but not at-all with your efforts to make this video.
I've seen the corners for the Dime frames but having paid an awful lot for the 4 inch version I'm not prepared to may more in order to make the horrible thing in any way usable. To me it should never be an add-on that's paid-for - it's more a fix for a very poorly designed product.
I'm primarily an embroiderer - I digitise my own designs, but also enjoy quilting and piecing, not to mention I also like applique combined with either or both.
The vicious-grasp of the Dime is surely dangerous (corner-guides notwithstanding) - at least the Brother system has individual magnets which work in alignment with corresponding bottom-magnets, which with thinner material such as more or less anything other than quilting (with the usual wadding sandwich structure of course) 'self align' with their lower-magnet counterparts - sort of 'jumping into place' as magnet-pairs tend to do in my experience.
The single hugely-powerful magnetic top-frame (magnets can be heard slightly moving as the frame is moved) of the savage Dime system doesn't have any way of being aligned with the bottom plain-metal (non-magnetic) bottom-frame. As soon as it gets close it just 'snaps' onto it, regardless of material, stabiliser, tension in the material/flatness or even your own fingers - like a crocodile! Really don't think much of the Dime - a total waste of money and so awkward to use (dangerous even...) that's without trying to achieve accurate placing..... Damn I wish I hadn't bought the horrible-thing.@@terrymaffitt4012
