I misspoke when saying Bruce Healey arranged the music for It’s A Small World Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday. While he did arrange the music for the former, Gordon Goodwin composed the original score for Haunted Mansion Holiday. Healey was still involved as producer and musical director, but wanted to make sure I properly credited Mr. Goodwin’s excellent work!

I also worked with Bruce on Pixarmonic Orchestra at DCA a few years ago. He came out of retirement to do arrangements for that show

My conducting mentor Dr. Gary Bonner conducted the Processional from 1991-1994. I’ve been trying to find photos or video from those years. He just retired from conducting this year at 86.

Men dragging a piece of wood...lolol, that's the Yule log.
Mostly traditions with roots in the Germanic culture.
Candlemas tradition and Lantern walks are so much fun.

Thank you for compiling all of this! Really interesting to see the history of the event. I played drums and percussion for Candlelight in 2019 and 2021, and playing again this year

My first year singing in the Disneyland Candlelight Choir was in 2007 and Nancy Sulahian had already started conducting by then. Thanks for the video! :)

This is cool! I’m surprised nobody else has done a video from this angle. I’ve gone to Disneyland at Christmas twice now, spending the whole week including the day there. The lights and atmosphere just scream Christmas to me and I love it. I’ve never been to the candlelight processional, but I’d love to one day.

My first Candellight I participated in was in 1980 as a local HS choir member; I did the next 3 years while in HS.
I started working in the park seasonally in1985 for the Christmas Parade but wasn’t senior enough. When I finally worked often enough to join the employee choir who comprise the living tree. For the last 3 years of my tenure I was one of the lantern carriers leading the procession as I was already on duty for the Christmas parades.
Sheldon Disrud was the conductor for most of the years I participated.
I remember James Earl Jones, Ed Asner as guest hosts. I can’t remember the years who did it when Charleston Heston may have been in the early 80s. I can’t find a list of guest narrators yet.
I still remember most of the music and the rehearsals. We used to stage it on Ox road (off Ball road) before the new Team Disney building is located which used to be the parking lot top for the Atlas Van Lines building. We also used that area to rehearse for the Main Street Hop in the late 80s.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Thank you for sharing! I always regretted never participating in the Cast choir. This is the list of narrators I used for the video: www.davelandweb.com/candlelight/.

@@InnoVision3D Thanks for the link. It helped me put things back in order. Now their voices are back in my head.
I think that in one of the years I participated, a previous host was brought in because the booked host was I’ll or couldn’t make it. It was easier since they had already hosted and the program sequence changed rarely with a song being replaced every few years but the script didn’t change much.

Drew Tablak being in here was a huge surprise (I knew him from Mad T so this was a blast from the past, I didn’t know his other work)

    • @InnoVision3D
      @InnoVision3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Drew’s performance is one of the best parts of Candlelight today, so I knew I had to include him somehow.

Speaking of the matterhorn star…looking forward to a future ranking of all the mountain climbers and how hunky they were. And then we could create some sort of presentation that demonstrates how their hotness correlated with how often the broke the attraction down.
No this comment has nothing to do with Christmas but my brain is so broken that this is the best you’re gonna get.

This was a really amazing video. Phenomenal job and research- I wish it were circulating more. I was looking for the history of this particular event and you gave a great rendition of it. I am now a subscriber.
