people can say a lot of things about Neil Young, but one thing they can't deny is his heart and transparency. There's nothing fake about him. He's always been real with people.
@Antonio Rocha Wow, a man sold his labour (labour of his life till now!) to a rich fucker so he can secure any future to him and his loved ones. What a piece of garbage! Bring back the true rock n roll!
Nothing fake but he is harsh. Leaving Buf Springfield when they were scheduled to do the Carson Show? Leaving the Still Young Tour. Well the album wasn't good so who can blame him for wanting out, but he calls Steve to say he's got other plans. Maybe he had something urgent, I don't know. And he talks about how sensitive Steve was to Media criticism when Neil contributed to Steve's insecurity. He talks on TH-cam about how incredibly sensitive Steve is .. thanks Neil for exposing this. I guess hhawk, Neil is a bit of a brutal hawk and Steve is a dove. And he does nothing for fans because he just doesn't care about anyone but old Neil. He's one of the greatest ever of course.
And that is what makes him such a rare human being. He never followed a path, he created his own. He is one of the few in a business that worship the almighty dollar, who never waivered from his musical path to simply make a buck. He created his music for himself. If we happen to like it...bonus. He is also one of few that have stayed absolutely true to themself, who they are and what they believe. The man is a rock and deserves much respect and admiration. He certainly has mine.
Wow ! What an extraordinary statement,Missdistant . You nailed it ! His fans totally associate with him ,with his songs and his music . His is like the sun that attracts us. He is one of a kind. Everything is so unique and special about this human being or this entity.
It should be remembered that Young didn’t appear in the Woodstock documentary because he refused to be filmed. He thought the movie was exploiting the festival, and history has proven him right.
Maybe but the Woodstock promoters lost tons of money on the festival from gate crashers, it's really not fair to think of them as mercenary for trying to get something out of it after all the effort and expense they had to dish out
@@ascii7085 you could say the same about the artists that make tons of money I wouldn't say they are exactly exploited. There are exploited artists but I wouldn't say Neil is one of them

Hey, instead of wasting time going to clubs and other places he'd be seen, he spent his time writing new music, which paid off, and gave us all a treasure of great tunes.
He specifically mentions People as he HATED that magazine. He let them into his home once for an interview and they wrote a very derogatory article about him and his then-wife.
It's so incredible that artists like Neil Young and Van Morrison can make millions of dollars and remain incredibly relevant in the music business while intentionally avoiding the business aspect of it. I suppose you could just call it a testament to undeniable talent.
A lot of the time, Artist just want to create and share their creations but just are not wanting the attention directed at their person, but rather the creation...the muse.
Great comment. You have perfectly summed up the youtube experience. It seems a lot of people have no issue with insulting others or saying whatever offensive, rude or disrespectful thing that pops into their heads. If you call them on it, you receive a reply telling you "It's JUST the internet. Get over it" (or worse) , as if this somehow justifies their behavior. It doesn't. Nor should it. I enjoy reading peoples opinions/comments. I just hate wading through all the muck to get to them.
Neil is simply great. and he has his brain connected with himself :) that's why is a real artist: he represent and anticipate what happen in real life.
I think he almost said...I don't know where the fuck they get that from at 0:25! LOL I think ole Neil is a very honest realist and says what he thinks..that's refreshing sometimes!
Neil put out a lot of music. Most of it awesome. And Night Flight was fresh. This was the early days of cable, and USA Network gave us all night greatness. It was great, partly, because you never knew what they were going to show. It could be videos, rock movies. One night they aired The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour. At that time, the only place I could see it was at one of those little downtown LA or Westwood theaters midnight showing. There was no American VHS release of it. But Night Flight would always be a pleasant surprise.
That is bizarre...he is indeed from Canada. Neil is one of our most famous and respected musicians. I don't like everything he's done, but there is no question that he is extremely talented.
Hi! I'm a huge fan of Neil, because of my father, and I've been studying his career. In the first place, this clip is really awesome and it would be GREAT to see the complete interview. But also, as some other people wrote, I really don't think this clip is from 1984. That date is wrong, I'm almost sure of that. In 1984 he looked much older. To me, this clip looks like from 1978 or 79 because he sounds really mature here (impossible from 68 or 69) and at the same time he has that haircut plus those sideburns. I hope to see the interview one day! :) Dani.
