Ram Tori Maya, arr. Reena Esmail

The lilting melody of Ram Tori Maya, by Ninu Majumar, arranged by Reena Esmail, is delightfully simple and catchy. The rhythm is based on a taal Deepchandi which is a 14-beat pattern (2 bars of 7/8, organized 3 + 4). The text, by the Indian saint/poet Barabas, speaks about how worldly distractions can prevent us from focusing on what is most important and sacred within each one of us.
