I'm an American living in Santa Rosa just 12 miles away The neighborhood I live in for the last year has no Americans at least I haven't seen any yet which is a good thing. Peaceful safe beautiful I'm growing coffee here which I send to our farm in California My son sells it at our farmers market. The key to living in Colombia is to live like a Colombian. I have a modern three bedroom two bath apartment in a good neighborhood $200 a month television internet gas electric and water 70 to $80 per month. This is farm country I buy as much as I can from Farmers directly better quality at a better price.
One of the best if not the best video I have seen on Pereira! I have lived in Colombia now for 16 years and the last 10 years in Bogota and it is time for a change so I am super stoked to have found your video because Pereira is my choice for my final destination here in Colombia. Now that my destination is secure in my mind I need to look for a place to live. Always a challenge. But your video put me at ease and I thank you for it. I have been to Salento several times and passed through Pereira but never stopped to smell the coffee, so to speak. So 10 months from now I will be there one way or another. Thanks again for the vid.
Thanks for your feedback John! I'm glad you found this video useful :) If you lived in Bogota for 10 years, Pereira will definitely be a fresh change. It's a lot more calm, less traffic, very very nice people hahah so happy you've decided on it. Wish you a blessed experience in Pereira
I was out there last year , I loved it , you really get your money’s worth out there . I rented a condo through air bnb in los altos del alpes and it was so nice , clubs and restaurants right around the corner. Can’t wait till 2024 I’m going back to take my son to meet my family from my mother side . Best of both worlds 🇨🇴🇵🇷
Just got back from Pereira, I recommend the San Simon Hotel on Plaza Bolivar. It's a $26,000 COP cab ride from the airport, $6. Cabs are cheap in Colombia. As far as Art I highly recommend the Botero museum in Bogota.
I love Pereira and found it to be very safe at night I hung out in all three major parks in El Centro. Would love to learn more about the different neighborhoods and night life.
No incluí el Parque Ukumari porque no me gustan los zoologicos donde los animales parecen prisioneros, aparte de lo que paso con Pancho y Chita no es un lugar que recomendaria.
We see that the best part of Pereira is away from the city since there is little to see inside, the downtown streets are crowded with venders making it difficult to walk though, many vagos and drug addicts sleeping on the street, graffiti everywhere, and dangerous at night? Where are the police? Most of the larger cities are the same, the only places you can see normal people are in the nice shopping malls. The real beauty of Colombia es los puebiltos!
I love Pereira and I have been there a few times. I was wondering if there are any Americans who have a bar or restaurant there that I could visit when I am there in April?
Hi Timothy! I'm glad you enjoy my hometown :) Unfortunately, I don't know of any bars owned by Americans, but I do know La Circunvalar is an area frequented by Americans who live here. Hope this helps!
Hi Philippe! April - May and Sept - Nov are the rainiest, however it does rain at any time since there's not really seasons in Pereira. It's springtime all year long :)
Hi @Lola Peach very nice video. I have never visited Pereira. From the airport, I go to Cartago. I also want to visit Salento and see all those big trees. amazing
I loved your video; thank you very much. Pereira is on my list of places in the coffee triangle to visit. May I suggest Manizales and environs as another possible video subject?
Hi Melissa! I recommend El Paque del Cafe, it's a theme park with rides I'm sure they will enjoy. Another one kids enjoy is Panaca, a farming theme park where they can interact with many animals. Enjoy your trip!
very informative 👏 video. which airline do direct flights ✈️ Miami->Pereira, what is the safest place for a Gringo to stay at. u said downtown could be dangerous at night.
American Airlines is perfect for a direct flight! Pereira is a relatively safe city but I do recommend you stay in Pinares or Cincunvalar for a more walkable environment. Downtown could be dangerous depending on the area you go or if you're showing off jewelry or phone other than that you should be more than safe :)
Most will disagree but no it’s not humane to ride a horse. I’ve always put myself in their place. I’m vegan and realized that many things we consider normal aren’t ethically vegan.
Hi Saul! Thanks so much for sharing your insight. This is something I struggle with as I am vegetarian...aiming towards veganism and have noticed that being vegan doesn't refer to just food and goes beyond that. So grateful for you 🙏

Hello again Lola (for whatever reason my first message does now shown here). Strange. Nevertheless, to make a long story short: since you are originally from Pereira, do you know any honest, reliable and safe Real Estate agent (or agency) in Pereira? I really want to have my own little place in that beautiful city I visited once. I wasin Colombia twice, travelling all over, but Pereira seems to be a place (Medellin to noisy and too dangerous, El Retiro too expensive and I could not find anything in Manizalles and Rionegro. I found something I would love to consider in Pereira on site such as Metrocuadrado or Fincaraiz, but their response is too slow to be considered seriously. I would appreciate your help. Cheers from Vancouver, Canada
Born and raised in Pereira. The last time I visited was in 1977. Love watching videos and I’m amazed to see how the city has changed.
Pereira in the house !!! Love love love 💛💙❤️

Good afternoon Lola, I kindly ask you to let me know exactly where can I get a message in Pereira; or if you have a recommended spa. Cordially, P
Hey Paola! I hope I'm not too late 🥲 I recommend Dashen Spa (Cra. 14 #13 -21, Pereira, Risaralda, Colombia)
Do they do hang gliding there
