It is an excellent thing that R&T has invited a genuine scholar in a field that it tangentially related to theology (the relationship of Christians to Islam being a theological question). Very often Christian/Muslim interactions are very narrowly focused on polemics, without taking into account a wider view of the other's tradition or the academic study thereof. This open-minded interaction with related scholarly fields is what a seeker of truth and of authentic dialogue needs to get the whole picture about Islam and how it should be interacted with.

I am not Baha'i but I do have a lot of Baha'i friends and most of them come from Christian backgrounds and have very little knowledge about Islam and could never answer questions how Bahai'sm reconciles historical discrepancies between the Bible and the Quran so when I discovered his work I found it really interesting. He even touched on the Docetism claim in the book you mentioned which for me is how the Quranic view has always come across on the Crucifixon.
The standard consonantal text of the Quran, the Uthmanic rasm, is extremely stable. Since its codification the text underwent almost no changes. This codification took place around its traditionally assigned date during the reign of Uthman. Only some minor changes in spelling. Marijn van Putten
