Collectors have been ruining collecting for the past 20 years
In what way?
This!
@@Waynesworldofgaming They encourage more people to get into collecting, therefore meaning less people are willing to sell their games as they are a collection. Less games on the market mean higher prices for those that are.
Many retro game collectors on TH-cam seem completely oblivious to the point that more collectors mean higher prices.
@@voteDC oh yeah I completely get it, the more that are collecting the less there are around which will hike the price up.
Yeah as soon as they make themselves known they set a price precedent and it just balloons from there, learned this the hard way when I wanted to pick up a few games from my childhood!
The map/instruction thing is something that peeves me about CEX as well. It's the single reason I don't use their website to order games (and the fact that it's £2.99 postage per game no matter how many you buy), because there is just no guarantee of the completeness or the condition of their items. To be honest though, I don't blame them for not caring much about details like that when they are selling thousands of these games for a pittance.
I agree mate, it is very annoying when you pay postage and it shows up with bits missing
I rarely buy games from CEX online anymore. And I would never buy in bulk from them online again. Instead of one fixed postage cost of say, £1.95, for the lot to be shipped, you get charged it for every game you buy and waste any voucher value you have (if any) or waste cash. And you're spot on about reprinted covers, only a collector would spend that amount of money on an old game, but they'd never buy a cover reprinted copy.
But it isn't all bad, CEX are a convient place to buy old games and often their more expensive games are cheaper than 'bay prices by a country mile.
I’m with you on the postage, I did a big CEX roulette video and the postage was insane!

I don’t mind CEX if I’m honest, they have their good and bad points. We can’t have it all
It's a good time to sell when everybody is collecting.
Look CEX isnt a retro game store they dont cater to collectors/scalpers imo 😂 and if you want a complete whatever either go to a dedicated store or use online.
Yes you will probably pay a premium but thats what u gotta do if u want a complete near/mint copy.
And criticising a staff member for being kind to you and your son by giving you a map thats probably worth pennies and available easily online is a bit silly honestly
It grinds me that Cex mix up there disc you find a release version of a game and they give you the essential disc. 😢
I know man or a platinum or something! Nightmare
CeX have saved me hundreds throughout the years with their second-hand games. As for some of their expensive titles, they're not so bad when you take into account inflation. £50 from 2002 is like £100 today.
I just folded up laughing. 'Could be Anthrax!'😂
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
But it could of been 🤷🏻♂️🤣
@@THEWATCHER0101 🤣🤣🤣
Nope, it's the community. CeX supplies the demand, and they're not always poorly priced. I actually find eBay a lot worse. People inflate prices like nothing else.
I agree some prices on eBay are insane!!
I thought you were going to put that Tekken case back down on the shelf for a second-I was like, “Wait-what are you doing?!”
Hahaha!! Definitely not! 😅 it’s probably up there with one of my best charity shop finds with the sealed ps2 controller
@@Waynesworldofgaming Haha nice! I was relieved to say the least👍🏻
@@dragonofhatefulretribution9041 🤣🤣🤣
Gonna take my boy in and get him to hype up the retro Zelda maps, could do with a couple of those 🤣
Hahaha! That would be awesome
Oh keep both for sure - Abergavenny eh?
Yep Abergavenny? You near?
@@WaynesworldofgamingBridgend way I am. Always nice to see some Welsh collectors. That Cattle Car boot was off the chain huh. I thinking of doing some similar with documenting my pickups etc.
@Syke360 ah Bridgend! I’ve not been down that way hunting yet but I suppose you’ve nabbed it all anyway 🤣 why not? Give it a go, I’m sure there’s enough interest for people to watch
@@Waynesworldofgaming I'm sure there are collectors down this way too as the charity shops are usually picked dry by the time I get there.
@@Syke360 most are nowadays unfortunately
eBay is ruining collecting
How so?
Ridiculous.
technology is ruining collecting, spoilt the fun of the chase.
I do agree with you there, eBay/vinted etc it is so easy to find the games now, plus all this malarkey about going digital is going to ruin it entirely
I get why it grinded your gears but I think it's so sweet. My cex doesn't do anything of that. Certain Staff put the map and manual and whatever else with the disc. I'm 26 and I'd love a free map let alone as an 8 year old but at the same time yeah if it's happened once how many other times has it happened
It was an awesome gesture and I was really happy for my son, but I just wonder how many times have things like this happened With other things? I’m probably over thinking and being a grumpy old man 🤣
@Waynesretroworld lol nah you good, it is a fair point to make.. I think if it was from something less popular unlike gta that's sold a stupid amount we would be even more worried
@@THEWATCHER0101 true🤭
@@THEWATCHER0101 more than likely 😂
@@hybrid_Batman yeah i suppose you’re right 😂
I like car boots too🎉🎉
You wouldn’t of liked that abortion of a carboot 🤣
What gets me about cex some games i was going to sell i looked up the cash price i would get one pence on some games its a insult to the customer spoke to the manager and assistant silence
I completely agree! As a company surely the case is worth more than that? If they bought them for spare cases they would have a stock of spare cases so that they wouldn’t have to turn some games away with cracked cases etc
Charity shops, where fifa games go to die.
🤣🤣🤣 I agree!
Collectors keep paying the ridiculous prices, i'm sorry but it's their fault.
I’m not so worried about the prices, it is what it it sometimes
The answer is no, because any collector with a brain doesn't shop at cex.
🤣🤣🤣😅
There’s getting less and less options nowadays though 😅
I’ve got much of my stash from CeX, they have their drawbacks but the positive definitely outweighs the negative
@@JimBob-vg2og I agree with you, there’s good and bad
