I think a candidate should not be allowed to contest in more than one seat at a time. If it is allowed and the candidate wins both, he has to give up one. The candidate then has to foot the bill of the elections expenses that were incurred by the ECI for that election seat .Why should the public foot the bill for the election and also the by election.

Before implementation of GST on the same item people used to pay VAT, CST,Entry tax and other taxes for supply items where for works people used to pay WCT, along with entry tax and CST for the supply portion of the same. There never used to be control on who is charging what despite of that business organizations used to receive crores tax demands due lack of synergies between the tax agencies. Quigmare, business man used to charge tax but not used to deposit the same since there is no link of tax deposited by tax payer in that system. Now things improved dramatically, taxes on works as well as services came down sharply where as on supply items it remain at constant despite increase in GST. Only fact is that more items were brought under tax ambit which is the basic principle of taxation system. One need to run the country and loop are required to be plugged for better financial health.
I am not at all suprised as Rai Bareli has some chance, whereas Amethi is impossible for Rahul. That Priyanka stayed away is a surprise.Proably not to overshadow Rahul

This GST collection is shameful considering that India has more than 800 million (more than the combined population of north America/Australia/New Zealand/Western Europe) subsisting on 5 kg rice. GST is regressive and impacts the poor more than the rich.
