Knowing what Joker had done to Harley during their relationship for years I imagine that Harley Quinn fans were just hoping one day she would kill him or break up with him and go on her own. Harley breaking up with Joker was the right thing to do and now she's arguably more popular now than she was while with Joker
It's really bizarre that Batman Beyond : The Return of the Joker has a completely different death of the Joker in the European version of the movie. In the European version he ends up dying via Electrocution, which he does to himself by accident.
There's also the horrible portrayal of Joker and Harley's "relationship" in the Suicide Squad movie. Harley is far better off without Joker these days, especially since she's found relationships which are healthy and loving on both sides.
Comic books are.... crazy af. One of many things I CLEARLY missed out on growing up. How exactly do comics even work? Do different writers just use the characters and create whatever story they want to? Is there any real.... um, "origin comics"? Do these vastly different stories using the same characters connect to one another in any way? For instance, is there a comic with a Joker character that can be truly considered THE Joker that all these other Jokers originate from? Or are they completely unique stories, each having their own distinct origin story for all main characters? I appreciate anyone able to explain these things to me! Hopefully I'm clear in what I am asking
From my understanding, it's a bit of both, usually explained by there being a sort of "main" universe and several "multiverses" where other offshoots/spinoff stories can take place. At least, that's how it is for most of DC and Marvel comics
The whole having multiple Harleys and not noticing her vanishing for a year makes perfect sense, given the mind of Joker. He probably looked for Harley when she vanished but forgot right away as something distracted him, like catching a greenhouse on fire when Ivy was near, seeing a puppy to kick, or giving a frightened puppy that was kicked to a home where it will seek safety in to have it fart out Joker gas in that home later.
Batman: Return of the Joker is probably the best thing to come from the DCAU, and as tough as it is to see what happened to this iteration of Tim Drake, he managed to get the most appropriate last words from the Joker: That's not funny!
Knowing what Joker has done with Harley Quinn, I'm glad they broke up in Birds of Prey, seeing her being on her own is better for her, and at least in the Harley Quinn TV she got Ivy
@@tfmaster96 I bet there's an echo when you have a thought. There must be a lot of room inside that skull. If your sad idea is that fictional characters should all be nice, then you're a complete moron. That's MY point, and thanks for proving it.

It's only a minor thing, but didn't the 2008 joker graphic novel come out close enough to the movie that the similarity's are coincidental? That's what I thought at least, you wouldn't be able to rush out a graphic novel in 2 months
That's literally the base of the character. A man who is beyond redemption, who always tries to show Batman how they are not much different from the other, but always ending in the same conclusion. Joker chose go down the path of evil, his mental illness never was a justification.
Quinn was abused by the Joker. I still think she's a bad guy. She has done horrible things and she wasn't forced to do them. The Joker didn't have to torture her to get her to kill people.
Is WhatCultureComics under the misconception that Batman comics were for little kids who can’t handle being uncomfortable at seeing bad guys showing exactly why they are called bad guys.
That last one was completely pointless m. Yes it sucks, Harley was abused but she kept going back to him but it has nothing to do with normalizing that type of relationship
There's no such a thing like inappropriate for a character like the Joker. That's what he is, whatever he does should be evil. Whoever looking for something else in this character is just plain stupid.
There’s no such thing as inappropriate stories, if you start thinking like that you start going down the authoritarian wrong think path. Was it in bad taste sure but that doesn’t make it inappropriate.
I find it very hard to feel any sympathy for the character of Harley quin. She was an intelligent phycologist that knew the Joker was a cold psycho killer yet instead of studying him and even though it was a lost to try to rehabilitate him she for reasons decided to fall in love with him and let him loose on the world. Kind of deserves what she gets considering she is responsible for what she has done both on her own and with or under the jokers guidance.
That is lk victim blaming. Of course she should've known better but she fell in love. Not that that excuses all her crimes, but Joker is a master manipulator and manipulated and abused her into becoming his partner in crime. Of course she was intelligent but that doesn't mean she can't make any mistakes. She had love, empathy and hope for him and it was her job after all to "fix" him not just say "yeah he has no chance of getting sane". She tried helping him but he seduced her. Nobody is saying Harley is a complete innocent angel but without him she wouldn't have pursued a life of crime (after all without him she later kind of became good). She might have made some mistakes but none of that excuses the physical, mental, verbal and emotional abuse and torture she had to endure for years, all inflicted upon her from the man she loved the most. Many abuse victims stay with their abusers out of love or being trapped and that was exactly what happened to her and why she kept running back. So she definitely is a victim, even though that doesn't excuse her horrible crimes.
@@tessie63la Too many people white night for women in abusive relationships don't get me wrong a lot of them do not deserve what they get. However so many are masterful manipulators and a use it as the excuse to do evil acts.
@@stevedenis8292 Those are pretty rare cases and most of them learn to become manipulators through being manipulated themselves so you can't really blame the victims for that. Plus in Harleys case she literally would've never had become a criminal without him, like sure there is an Id that every person has, the side in them that is unhinged but Joker still brought out that side intentionally to manipulate and shape her how he wanted without Harley even wanting it. And sure Harley has her faults and isn't perfect, but at least she managed to do some good and even help people while still being that person Joker "created" so I think she is inspirational for that. And in most comics she went through so much so I find it hard to not have any empathy for her. And it's not like people just randomly "white knight" for her for no reason, Joker does the most horrific things to her while still claiming her as his "girlfriend" and trapping her in a cycle of abuse, brainwashing her into thinking that the abuse is a way of him showing his love or just what she deserves.
