@myersbob7517 UIL rules prohibit more than 8 hours of weekly rehearsal. If a band is found to exceed this, they will be disqualified from competition if it has not already happened, or simply not advance but still keep their title if earned given that they were found to have exceeded after competition, or of they exceeded after the competition altogether.
That kid is just a sore loser. I graduated in 2010, I marched in high school, this rule was in place then. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s the directors.
Wait what? What a garbage report. Leaves more questions than answers. Mostly, what was the violation? Why wasn’t the violation escalated to the state level? Finally, given that a rule was broken, the reason the rule was in place should be examined. If it indeed was practicing on the competition field like is sort of insinuated, did they have a competitive advantage? If not, maybe the rule should be done away with. Finally, a requalification competition is ridiculous. Competitions are incredibly labor intensive to hold. The petition should just be to have those two schools disqualified, and the next two schools move up.
no in texas if a band gets disqualified the next bands usually don't move up but it matters about the amount of bands in that competition Edit - pretty sure they just don't up period
@@superior_nobody07 Practicing on the competition field gives a band an unfair advantage. If everyone got to practice on that field, then there's no advantage. There's nothing strange about it.
@@specksofdust the only rule they seemingly violated was the 8hr a week rule, which is a strange rule. The field rule is also a bit strange. Where I'm from most competitions occur at local high schools, and apart from the fact that it wouldn't be possible for bands to practice on other schools fields, there wouldn't have been any real advantage to practicing on them vs your own field
@@echo3568 Every single field is different. Where are the hash marks? What do they use to mark yard lines? Are there potholes? How wide is the space between the track and the field so we can optimize PIT setup? How high is the judges box for when we raise our horns? Is the field a cold air trap that makes us play flat? And most importantly, the acoustics. At some fields, your sound seems to just float away. At others, it bounces right back at you. It's absolutely an advantage in more than one way. That's why the rule exists.
4:26 my band missed state last year by 2 points. We wouldve made it if it was just prelims but the rain and cold we had to march in hindered that. No second chances try again next year. Its that simple
Sharyland school did not cheat just cuzz they practiced in their field that did not make them win it was their talent and dedication so why is this woman not mentioning all The other districts that also went to practice maybe even her school went but she is not saying it just accept u lost this time and leave sharyland out and stop making this a big deal woman focus on ur school and that’s it u guys did not even make top 5 or 10

I remember being in band how if we failed a class, we couldn’t march. This is a first I’ve heard of how desperate winning have gone
That still is rule in UIL
Sucks for this kids but the directors should have read the rule book.
they either practiced for more than 8 hours a week or started marching drill before august 1st
We practice more than 8 hours a week? There’s nothing wrong with that
@@myersbob7517 wrong, against uil rules

This. Hate to be that guy, but it’s not like Harlington had a chance.

UIL has had rules for years ! If you break them too bad. Band directors are at fault.
very strange rules, understandable to some extent but very strange.

😅😅 Aww hawks should have gotten at least a participation trophy 😅😅
Porter or pace wouldn't have beat shary or pioneer in a million years. Honest to god skill issue.
L skill issue fr, that student wasn’t even in top 5 like cmon now….
Follow the rules. Get your stop watch out and follow the rules. It’s not hard to it right at 8hrs.

However, there's camera evidence. Cameras don't lie.
Rules are rules. Either follow or be reprimanded. The kids are punished because the directors f'd up. Sad, but a petition shouldn't change it.
Womp womp kid yall schools suck frrrrr can’t even place top 5 who knows how long 🤣🤣🤣🤣
