EDIT**** i forgot to mention that tenshin ryu teaches nodachi i made an error in saying schools don’t teach nodachi online i am not a professional i am currently only self taught. i just wanted to share some of the things i do to use this sword. 😊 sword stats - custom nodachi by hanbon forge nagasa - 120cm / 47” tsuka - 44cm / 17.3” weight - 5.9 pounds
The fact that you can weild this one handed says alot. Absolutely loved this. You explained your style clearly. A wider base means a more stable base. Outstanding video ol'boy
Excellent insight into using the sword!!! I tell you, everything you got going there, the cutting, solo practice, the light leaks and clouds, the steam when the jug is cut, the color, it's all such a vibe!!!
This was an AWESOME tutorial. You explained everything very clearly and demonstrated it extremely well at the same time. Dropped a ton of gems here brother!
@@RodneyKatana something i forgot to mention is that i really think these were utilized from horseback more than anything else i think their battlefield application was completely different than their european counterparts since they were most popular in the kamakura / dual courts era
Nice Video, i like to Use Large Odachi as well. I got a few of them. The largest Odachi i own is the Hanwei Odachi, which has a 125 cm Nagasa, 40 mm Motohaba, 10-11mm Motokasane , 30mm sakihaba ,7mm sakikasane and 6cm sori. It weighs 2,7 kg WITH Bo-Hi. So its an absolute Beast. Sadly they dont produce them anymore. I tried to order A Custom Odachi at Hanbon Forge, with an even heavier Blade Geometry. Hope they can craft this, this Would be a Dream.
@@KishouArima804 it’s wild you say this because i found one of those hanwei nodachi and im hoping it shows up in good condition 💪🏽 this red one im using is from hanbon but i would love a thicker blade too this one is just a katana blade size but longer
@@TONEDEAFSOUND You would be lucky, if you can get one of These Hanwei Odachi. I bought mine last year for about 2k $ and never found one again. Hanwei Odachi is like the only One that has an actually Clay Tempered Blade. It feels very heavy and i think the Tsuka could be a bit longer, its like 42 cm. But i think its the highest Quality Odachi you could get nowadays. Btw ,Is this Hanbon Odachi you use 1060 or 1095 Steel?
@@TONEDEAFSOUND well i Chose 1095 Mono Steel, they said they can only claytemper until 91cm blade length. I wrote them like 4 emails, how i Would like to have the blade length and Geometry because i could only choose the 97cm maximum on the customization . But they still havent answered lol
