I think it was the Black Sheep SQN back on 4 July 1986 that LCPL Howard Foote, an aircraft mechanic, stole an A-4M Skyhawk and took it for a joyride and landed it safely.
I don't think many would recall the series of the 70s about the Black Sheep squadron. They flew Corsairs. Big hit mid 70s and was on TV in Australia too
I thought the Blacksheep squadron was a ww11 Pacific island based Corse air Aircraft squadron ,there was a TV Series also out with the Mascot being a white Bull terrier.Robert Conrad was the main actor ,anyway great footage thanks for sharing
Anybody in the know that can say what the "vaguely" plane, or bell shaped frame is for that is located above each craft when they are parked up beneath the covered bay area? Does it radiate an outline whether there is a plane stabled beneath or not, or maybe something less intriguing?
The Title of the Video may have over exaggerated things somewhat. However VFMA 214 of the USMC became Widely known here in the States back in the late 1970's due to a Television Series called Baa Baa Black Sheep starring Robert Conrad. It was based on the Story of USMC Major Greg (Pappy) Boyington and squadron's exploits in the South Pacific during the war. I doubt many Americans even know about the Black Sheep or Boyington unlike the UK where 617 Squadron is Revered and Well known for their daring missions during the War. So Yes I would say that 617 Squadron Dam busters is Famous. Yes UK citizens Not all we Americans are Ignorant to the RAF's Heroic Actions during WW2👍!

"Black Sheep' squadron certainly helped defend Australia in WW2. Kudos to them.
I saw these beautiful machines working ops in and out of RAAF Darwin a week and half ago, together with F15 Eagkes; not half noisy in take off!
I wish I was there .Love Darwin my favourite place in Oz .
@@judefernandez827 hey, it's nice, I'm now at Gove airport where a sqn of Ospreys are landing today on Pitchblack ops.
Four landed in great clouds of dust in the dry tropical red dirt and uploaded some blokes with lots of kit. Back and forth for a fortnight I hear.

I was stationed there (MCAS El Toro) at the time - I worked on the avionics for A-6E Intruders for the USMC from 1981-1989.

"World famous" means "America famous."

B Variant. Nice!
Love that one of the frames has got Pappi Boyington's name on it...and would love to know what "TFUG" stands for, my guess "This FUckin' Guy."

It was called 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baa_Baa_Black_Sheep_(TV_series)
that must bw the most costly ladder in the world
Always wondered..The pitch up attitude as indicated by the Miisiles attached, wonder how much the pitch angle changes at Speed...??????
Where do they store their stuff for the ferry flight? Those hangers looked to be in Australia.
Looks like 75SQN Tindal RAAF BASE NT.
Ground crew and any support equipment would travel in a C-17/C-130 cargo aircraft for deployments.
@@RobertLewis-el9ub yeah but where does the pilot store his toothbrush, do they have a cargo pod on the F35 he can put his stuff in?

@@markneedham752 I hate to think what the glove box option costs when you order a new F35.

North American or Beechcraft? 😉
Good ol' Rat Zombie.
the B varien is the rarest of them all, bloody cool
Not really - the USMC has more F-35Bs in operational squadrons than there are F-35Cs in existence.
It's the variant used by the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy in the UK.
Convertible owners..... always showing off that they can put the top down even when it isnt necessary! :)

Also RAAF Tindal is not in the “outback”. Its minutes flying time from Darwin.
