Puppies Meet the Dorpers

Our Livestock Guardian Dog puppies turn 4 weeks old tomorrow. They are eating canned puppy food very well and were introduced to water in a bowl today, which they readily drank. We let them out of the whelping pen for the first time today and they were active and eager to explore. Some of the Dorper ewes came up and the puppies checked them out. The Dorpers are very gentle, and we directly supervise the visits so the puppies don't get frightened or injured. The first meeting went very well and the ewe enjoyed it as well as evidenced by her wagging her tail! Thanks for joining us at Norwal Farm.

So sweet, looking very healthy. Is Lilly still give them a bit of milk each day?

Yes, Lillie is still nursing them, not sure how often as she is never in with them when we are there. She is to wary of us. I fed them twice today and they are consuming about a can each feeding. We get the kibble tomorrow and will soak it and mix with the canned food and increase feedings to 3 times a day. We will wean them at 6 weeks old.
