    I'm usually a default "Thomas Blue" colour buyer, but that Montreal Green is gorgeous!
    This is a really beautiful car inside and out, and is what the Stelvio should have been. Alfa deserves a runaway sales success and this could be just the car to accomplish it.

      How should this have been the Stelvio ? This car is anemic ! Takes over 8 seconds to get to 60 !!
      Stelvio drives amazing...50 / 50 weight bias, GIORGIO platform (WAY BETTER THAN THE FIAT PUNTO PLATFORM from where this is based), and the Stelvio is primarily RWD bias whereas I'm sure this is primarily FWD bias. I do prefer the front facia of the Tonale as well as the tail lights but that's it. Stelvio sport seats are way nicer as well.

    • @sbomorse
      @sbomorse ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesterakazis6624 better looking inside and out, better everyday powertrains, better technology. The only reason now to buy a Stelvio is the Quadrifglio or if you need more space.

      @@sbomorse Better looking inside ? Hardly....Ti Sport seats I have in my 2020 Stelvio Ti Sport are the same seats as my 2017 Giulia Quad minus the Alcantara. Much nicer seats than are in this Tonale....Also, black on black on black on black...UGH!!! My pearl white Stelvio with the red and black interior is way nicer looking than this cave. Red sport seats, red lower dash, red inserts in the doors and red center console make my Stelvio's interior way more vibrant than this drab black mish mosh. Center stack info is better in the Tonale but I much prefer the integrated look of the Stelvio's nav screen to this iPad thrown on top of the dash ala every German car ever....afterthought much ? Looks are subjective but my Pearl white Stelvio with the black exterior accents and much nicer 19 inch 5 hole rims is a superior looking car in my opinion. Unfortunately when the Dodge Hornet hits the streets for 11 K less, the Tonale is going to be cheapened by its corporate sibling...something the Stelvio doesn't have to worry about.

  • @henrikdrums9759
    @henrikdrums9759 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    In this segment the Tonale is undoubtly the best looking car. Cupra Formentor a few steps behind but that poor 90’s lumbar tattoo of a tribal logo just bring the whole thing down the drain.
    Stelvio is only slightly bigger (6 cm wider, 15 cm longer) compared to Tonale and squeezes in 25 dm3 extra in the boot. The fact that Tonales hybrid engine will be Alfas best economic vs performance powerhouse, can carry three adults in the back (according to Thomas), taxes and pricetag in favor of this car - all my bets are on Tonale. In fact, im seriously concidering this as my future hybrid alternative in the next couple of years. Hopefully reliability and dealerships have evolved. Well done Alfa!

      @roby72s ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rlsedition I am afraid, but this is exactly what is happening. There was a picture taken from the factory of a red Dodge Hornet, leaked few months ago. The picture shows the front side the driver side, so you cannot see the front, but apparently is exactly the same as the Tonale except for the front grille which obviously will be different. There was also a picture of the interior which a clone except for the dodge logo. If Stellantis produces a Dodge which is basically a clone of an Alfa, it means only one thing and that is, Stellantis has got no idea of what to do with Alfa Romeo.

      @@roby72s I once worked for an OEM automaker, so I know the first brand of a new vehicle architecture is often used for the follow-ons, like the Hornet, by adding or subtracting a few parts, as all the new body pieces were not yet available when the Hornet proto cars were built . Hopefully this is what's going on with the Hornet protos we've seen.

    I really love this car and the review you did. It's indepth and very good! My favorite thing was the flashers turning on when you brake very hard. Many times I've been on the highway or in the city, had to slam on my brakes and just prayed the person behind me would be paying attention and notice how hard I'm braking. With that? No more, you'll catch someone's attention fast with a flasher brake. Especially if it's some sudden stop you can't make them expect.

      I'm curious if Alfa Romeo will sell more cars, when Lancia will launch the tree planned models between 2024 and 2028. I'm a bit worried about internal competition, as the planned Lancia models will also be premium.

    • @cyrilmatthew2995
      @cyrilmatthew2995 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrateTebra123 Good question - Mounting the engine longitudinally enables the engineers to push the engine towards the centre and behind the front axle that that leads to almost equal weight distribution to front and back $ right and left.
      This makes for a proper front mid engine engine rear wheel driven layout that lead to better acceleration, less torque steer, better cornering performance and even this layout can handle more powerful engines as well.
      AWD can be integrated as well to red architecture as well ...
      Compared to a transversely mounted layout where more then 65 % weight is up front and axels powering the front wheels are of different lengths .. there's so much parts that are stuffed in to front bonnet and front wheels have to do the both turning and pulling duty that leads to east wear and tear of parts ....
      Rear wheel drive vehicles may not be as space efficient as fwd as there's axle that goes to rear that takes up space butany modern fwd vehicles too have AWD system that eats in to the space so that argument is no longer valid....
      Drive a Lexus is 300 and es 300 or 350 ... You will know what difference rwd can make or just have look on the previous generation fwd based ford explorer and the new red based version...

    Great review, as always! Looks are subjective, and this seems to be getting a lot of love from commenters. Personally, although I love the front, from the side it reminds me of a 7 year-old Qashqai, and the interior is a bit too Fisher-Price for me. But each to their own, my style is more Volvo-minimalist, so obviously I'm not the target market for this. Nevertheless it's great that there are still some cars with a "personality" being made.
