Honestly I could easily see Steven devolving back into monster Steve at least once. Mental health relapses can take you into even darker places, even when surrounded by friends, family, and therapy. Sometimes you can't fight the darkness and it overwhelms you. Personally I would like to see Steven turn back to that form and instead of "we're here to fix you and make it better" seeing more "we're here to help you get through this. We're here to help you. You can do this. We won't leave". Not everyone can lean on others every time, sometimes you have to lean on yourself. Leaning on everyone else all the time can create dependency issues
@Genius Simmer I didn't like how they dealt with Connie as for the holes and unanswered questions, it would make sense for Rebecca to do so considering she said she wasn't done with the characters. He could use them when he's feeling particularly stressed or having a bad day, or just gradually diminishing their potency as he gets better, so he can get used to having most of his strength with him on a regular basis. That would be great.
I think that steven growing in size could possibly be steven-zilla trying to escape from steven's body in growing pains and pink steven is that steven-zilla's power's leaking out of him and in everything's fine he lets steven-zilla out of him due to him thinking he's a monster
What if he actually learned to control Steven-Zilla? Kaiju battles, but with The Pink One actually trying not to harm his enemies, using defensive weapons and tactics. It might not play well on TV, but in my head it's awesome.
Another big thing of therapy for PTSD is emotional regulation, which could really help Steven manage his outbursts. This further decreases the likelihood that Steven will have a monster-Steven level breakdown again, as you pointed out. :)

Steven is also a curious example of INHERITED trauma. It's like how people grow up with traumatized parents, whose parents pass that trauma onto their children without even being aware. Also a really interesting way of looking at epigenetics, but that's a different.

I’m not gonna lie I really think me and Steven have a connection because I lost my mom a year ago and I’m 17 but she had heart disease for almost 5 years then 2 months after my mom passed my pregnant sister died and the night my mom died me and my brother and sister were scared cause there were just sirens everywhere and I remember seeing the fire department and police and ambulance!! And after that I just felt lost and still do sometimes. But I want to know is there anyone else that has been through similar situations like this?

I think regardless Steven's focus right now for at least next couple years is honestly getting better mentally and finding his place in life. I think all those diamond powers will come once he is stable enough that he is ok to use them and as well as with age.

It troubles me. He is way too young for that, and add the mental health issues and diamond powers, it's a recipe for disaster, if there is any realism at all, and Future did flirt with more realism than the original series or the movie did. But looking at it as the arc of a story, I think it works well. I felt satisfied emotionally at the end, but then just think of the implications....best not to.
When you think about Greg’s way of raising Steven it was obvious that Steven was going to go out and travel just like his Dad. And in the long run Steven has long since outgrown Beach City if he stayed it would probably have made his mental issues worsen.
@@briana9937 Cartoon Ruins made this exact point in their video; it's worth searching it out. It seems he pretty much had to leave in order to heal and grow. Steven made that clear using Cookie Cat as a metaphor. And from the standpoint of the story, it works great. It's only when you think of the real-world implications that it seems like a terrible idea; but of course we're not in the real world. Even in this fictional world, he has the love and support of family, friends, and his therapist, and a detailed plan. It's not like he's just taking off. I still feel some concerns about the message it sends to troubled youth who may be watching. A lot of young people run away from home, and frankly sometimes that's the least dangerous option, especially for LGBT kids. But real life is not like the poetic ending of a classic hero's journey story arc.
I'd love to see steven come back in 2 years or so and explore his journey through young adulthood finding himself and there would be gem things but it wouldn't be the main point it would be a boy becoming a man dealing with his powers and trauma while still growing as a person and meeting new people as well as his old friends

Personally, I would love if a future series/episode/movie/etc could explore the potential of Steven finding out more about his mother and her journey in chronological order. Understanding how people you've hurt are valid in distancing themselves from you even while you have grown and improved as a person could be an incredibly valuable lesson on learning how to move on without holding resentment towards people who also need to move on from you, as well as him having a better understanding of his mother as a person that went through her own journey. I'm personally going through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy myself for my own CPTSD, and I would be ecstatic to see his journey - with his therapist, with his experiences outside of Beach City, learning how to handle those flare ups and potential moments of relapse that you mention in the video. There's a lot of incredible potential with his story and development, and while I don't have any expectation for that kind of serial continuation focusing on Steven, I am really grateful to be able to speculate about it and to watch videos where you do as well. c:
If the series would come back it would be interesting for them to pick in his early late teen or early adult years toward either midway or almost recovered ate of his therapy sessions around when things are kinda stable cuz I mean at this point I'm down for some wholesome stuff from Steven he deserves it.
Not to mention therapy sometimes isn't the best thing to do. I know that talking about your trauma can bring you back to those moments and those feelings leaving you to regress back to your mental state in those moments. I've been to therapy about 3 times in my life in the past 4 years. I have retold my story too many times that I didn't get to talk about how I'm struggling in the present, leaving me with more and more baggage. I was going through abuse without even knowing it during the time I was in therapy so that made it remarkably difficult to hold my tongue because my therapist wanted me to tell my story and write it down every session. I was spending months of coming every week and regurgitating my trauma that I wasn't really helping myself.
Steven can go to other places on earth like the monk in china can teach about chi and to control his power. Also learned marital art. He can also to meditate to control balance his body and mind physcal and mentally. He could be like Samurai Jack when he travel world inorder to defeat Aku, but these are my thought.

The answer is...nothing Actually, there is a reason why the chest was seen open in the movie, we already had the answer on why it was there in the first place. The chest represents the secrets of Rose quarts Aka pink diamond aka worst mom. The chest symbolizes that there is no need to hide secrets from anyone, yet Rose kept it closed and locked. Now that Steven knows everything about his mom and all the secrets were out, the chest magically opened. It didn’t need a key, Steven was the key. The moment he accepted who he was, the moment he accepted everything about his mom and her secrets, the chest opened in the mane This is just a small theory I’ve had, but I’m actually proud of this one, hope y’all enjoy!
I've always held my own personal fan story in my head for the longest time about how certain teen heroes would fair in a Superhero centered Universe like the DCU or the Marvel Universe. And Steven is on that list of heroes that I find to be one of the more interesting ideas. How would a post-Future Steven Universe handle if he were suddenly placed into a world where other superheroes exist? How would he use his powers and how would he fit and interact with other heroes? Would he be able to even befriend other teen heroes like himself and even join up with some of them? Its questions like this I ponder daily and not only with Steven but with other similar heroes as well (but this is mainly to discuss young Steven in this role and not the others on my list lol)
Steven Universe is one of those tv programs nobody hated. But when it comes to the LGBT community Cartoon Network in different parts of the world censored or altered things which is bad since Russians hate Ruby and Sapphire's lesbian relationship and the crystal gems being gay of all things

I loved hearing about all of these mental health strategies i knew about all of them to an extent but hearing about them in greater detail (along with SU as the backdrop(wow I am a big nerd)) was very informative

Steven is also a curious example of INHERITED trauma. It's like how people grow up with traumatized parents, whose parents pass that trauma onto their children without even being aware. Also a really interesting way of looking at epigenetics, but that's a different.

I’m not gonna lie I really think me and Steven have a connection because I lost my mom a year ago and I’m 17 but she had heart disease for almost 5 years then 2 months after my mom passed my pregnant sister died and the night my mom died me and my brother and sister were scared cause there were just sirens everywhere and I remember seeing the fire department and police and ambulance!! And after that I just felt lost and still do sometimes.
But I want to know is there anyone else that has been through similar situations like this?

I think regardless Steven's focus right now for at least next couple years is honestly getting better mentally and finding his place in life. I think all those diamond powers will come once he is stable enough that he is ok to use them and as well as with age.

It troubles me. He is way too young for that, and add the mental health issues and diamond powers, it's a recipe for disaster, if there is any realism at all, and Future did flirt with more realism than the original series or the movie did. But looking at it as the arc of a story, I think it works well. I felt satisfied emotionally at the end, but then just think of the implications....best not to.
When you think about Greg’s way of raising Steven it was obvious that Steven was going to go out and travel just like his Dad. And in the long run Steven has long since outgrown Beach City if he stayed it would probably have made his mental issues worsen.

@@briana9937 Cartoon Ruins made this exact point in their video; it's worth searching it out. It seems he pretty much had to leave in order to heal and grow. Steven made that clear using Cookie Cat as a metaphor. And from the standpoint of the story, it works great. It's only when you think of the real-world implications that it seems like a terrible idea; but of course we're not in the real world. Even in this fictional world, he has the love and support of family, friends, and his therapist, and a detailed plan. It's not like he's just taking off. I still feel some concerns about the message it sends to troubled youth who may be watching. A lot of young people run away from home, and frankly sometimes that's the least dangerous option, especially for LGBT kids. But real life is not like the poetic ending of a classic hero's journey story arc.
Right before he said he had a therapist I stopped crying but when he talked about his therapist I started crying again
I'd love to see steven come back in 2 years or so and explore his journey through young adulthood finding himself and there would be gem things but it wouldn't be the main point it would be a boy becoming a man dealing with his powers and trauma while still growing as a person and meeting new people as well as his old friends

Personally, I would love if a future series/episode/movie/etc could explore the potential of Steven finding out more about his mother and her journey in chronological order. Understanding how people you've hurt are valid in distancing themselves from you even while you have grown and improved as a person could be an incredibly valuable lesson on learning how to move on without holding resentment towards people who also need to move on from you, as well as him having a better understanding of his mother as a person that went through her own journey. I'm personally going through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy myself for my own CPTSD, and I would be ecstatic to see his journey - with his therapist, with his experiences outside of Beach City, learning how to handle those flare ups and potential moments of relapse that you mention in the video. There's a lot of incredible potential with his story and development, and while I don't have any expectation for that kind of serial continuation focusing on Steven, I am really grateful to be able to speculate about it and to watch videos where you do as well. c:

Not to mention therapy sometimes isn't the best thing to do. I know that talking about your trauma can bring you back to those moments and those feelings leaving you to regress back to your mental state in those moments. I've been to therapy about 3 times in my life in the past 4 years. I have retold my story too many times that I didn't get to talk about how I'm struggling in the present, leaving me with more and more baggage. I was going through abuse without even knowing it during the time I was in therapy so that made it remarkably difficult to hold my tongue because my therapist wanted me to tell my story and write it down every session. I was spending months of coming every week and regurgitating my trauma that I wasn't really helping myself.
I think Steven might have learned how to turn himself into a corrupted monster and still have his mind and be like the flash

So many of us were excited to find out the one question everyone had in their mind during the finale, What’s inside the chest in lion’s main?
The answer is...nothing
Actually, there is a reason why the chest was seen open in the movie, we already had the answer on why it was there in the first place. The chest represents the secrets of Rose quarts Aka pink diamond aka worst mom. The chest symbolizes that there is no need to hide secrets from anyone, yet Rose kept it closed and locked. Now that Steven knows everything about his mom and all the secrets were out, the chest magically opened. It didn’t need a key, Steven was the key. The moment he accepted who he was, the moment he accepted everything about his mom and her secrets, the chest opened in the mane
This is just a small theory I’ve had, but I’m actually proud of this one, hope y’all enjoy!

This Is just Steven's dream home
I've always held my own personal fan story in my head for the longest time about how certain teen heroes would fair in a Superhero centered Universe like the DCU or the Marvel Universe. And Steven is on that list of heroes that I find to be one of the more interesting ideas. How would a post-Future Steven Universe handle if he were suddenly placed into a world where other superheroes exist? How would he use his powers and how would he fit and interact with other heroes? Would he be able to even befriend other teen heroes like himself and even join up with some of them? Its questions like this I ponder daily and not only with Steven but with other similar heroes as well (but this is mainly to discuss young Steven in this role and not the others on my list lol)
Steven Universe is one of those tv programs nobody hated. But when it comes to the LGBT community Cartoon Network in different parts of the world censored or altered things which is bad since Russians hate Ruby and Sapphire's lesbian relationship and the crystal gems being gay of all things

I loved hearing about all of these mental health strategies i knew about all of them to an extent but hearing about them in greater detail (along with SU as the backdrop(wow I am a big nerd)) was very informative
The thing is though, Steven ISN'T a real person he's a fictional character . Why would Rebecca want to give Steven privacy if he isn't real.

(P.S. some people may argue that what Steven was going through wasn't a mental illness but I beg to differ just watch the scene in Growing Pains where Connie's mom explains what TRAUMA is to Steven and you'll see what I'm talking about)
