I’ve had my Classic Vibe P-Bass for over 10 years, and aside from an electronics swap and tuner upgrade a couple years ago, the maintenance has been very minimal overall. Maybe two adjustments a year, and the tuning stability is stellar. So from someone that has had one for the long haul, they can definitely hold up over time.👍 The pickup is surprisingly good, too. Maybe I just got lucky.
They are built better…even the hardware has been improved. Labor cost/combining pieces of wood are big factors in cost reduction. Also, CNC is changing the game!
I have 4 Squier Bass Guitars in my Bass Guitar Collection 1. Squier Classic Vibe 70's Jazz Bass Sunburst 2. Squier Classic Vibe 70's P Bass Walnut Color 3. Squier Affinity Jaguar Bass H 4. Squier Affinity PJ Bass Lake Placid Blue I ❤Playing Squier Bass Guitars
I’ve been trying a lot of American pro II but all of them have build quality issues. I even saw a hair within the paint for one of them. I feel the build quality of the Mexican ones are way better now. I’m sad to say this but it’s true.
I have a Squire Affinity that I got to bang around rehearsing and messing around. All I did was put a High Mass bridge and some flatwounds on it, sounds great and I was surprised how well it plays and holds tune.
For the '70 CV Jazz Bass i put on flats on mine. That brought down the top end and gave it a great snappy "woody growling" sound with the neck PU on full and bridge PU (very) slightly off. Mine is the black one and it's not on the light weight side (not on the heavy side either, but just in the midle). Maybe different wood than the Sunburst? For the Butter Cream Mexico Precision (yes I have that one too) I would say it has the sweetest mid tone of all the P-basses I own! And I really love the light weight! Besides it came really low action out of the box, and i did not have to do any adjustment, even shipped from Mexico to cold Norway! But what I really missed out here is the test of the 1st. run of Squier Classic Vibe '60's Precision Bass! That's the best Squier I ever played! It's as good as a top end Fender! I got two, on one of them I put on GHS flats and some fome rubber at the bridge, and it really is an awesome Motown machine! Great video by the way!
I’d like to see John’s thoughts in a similar style on the range of Stingrays. From the Sterling Ray 4 all the way up to the Genuine Music Man Stingrays.
I, just put my, Fender Mexican pick ups in my seafoam green Classic Vibe 70s P-Bass and man it sounds even better and it sounded pretty good stock. I have Lollar Pick Ups in my Mexican P-bass
The flame vaneer on that 70s cv p bass walnut was sweet! I can't believe this dude said the classic vibe bodies are chambered! They are light but not because the wood has been routed out. Its just cheaper wood. Ive had some weighty classic vibes before by the way so this dude is wrong about that.
A bass is more forgiving than a 6 string electric . i would take a Squire bass over many of the big name brands . So sick of all this corporate comparison on the net
I bought a used Squire Jazz from Muscians friend for 160. Over than one buzzy fret near the nut, i love it. Sounds great to me. I love cheap guitars tho so don't listen to me.
Why can't Fender just bring back the American Standard? I'm not buying another Jazz Bass or any other Fender guitar until they do. Well, that, and until they get their quality control decent again.
Same goes for drummers or gutarists. Whoever runs the band gets to call the shots. Or do you think there's a guitarist around who would tell Jaco or McCartney to just shut up and play bass? 😂

I bought a Squier classic vibe p-bass for recording and I love it.
It’s surf-green with block inlays. ❤️
love the surf green with black block inlays 👏
Nice.
bought the same thing, it's amazing!

Two adjustments a year sounds right, assuming you live in a place that has seasons.

Would be awesome to see a short scale bass video comparison!

Fantastic video. I'm actually a guitarist but have wanted to pick a Bass up for a while
The Fender Player PB sounds like the right choice for me. Thanks for the help deciding

These kinds of reviews are very helpful to me as a hobby guitar player who has thought a lot about adding a bass to the home arsenal. Thanks, guys!

I have a 1989 Squier II Precision bass and a 2004 Squier standard "Black and Chrome " series precision bass
That was outstanding and thank you both for that information.!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎸📻
Underrated, fantastic buying guide. Appreciate this!
I’d like to see John’s thoughts in a similar style on the range of Stingrays. From the Sterling Ray 4 all the way up to the Genuine Music Man Stingrays.
Man, I can NOT see how their basic models are $3000+
I, just put my, Fender Mexican pick ups in my seafoam green Classic Vibe 70s P-Bass and man it sounds even better and it sounded pretty good stock. I have Lollar Pick Ups in my Mexican P-bass
Did the lollars improve thr MIM Bass?
Of course everything has great tone look at the gear you’re running it through

Awesome video !!
I'de love to watch a review of the Fender Tony Franklin Fretless model.
that first guitar is beautiful.

What pickups does the Classic Vibe come with?
Fender Alnico
@@joshuamcmichael4121 No, they are Fender designed, not made by Fender.
Composite body? AFAIK bodies are made out of 3 piece alder.
Yeah he’s talking out of his rear end
You’d think they would read the specs.
Daa squier is fender affordable and easy to modify 😊
Thats some killer Funk playing! Flea is a tool. This some real groovy Funk
Squier has lost me by putting narrow tall frets on everything. I hate them. With a passion.
Opposite for me, must be a hands thing
@@thecolorhero1078 I just hate how they grab when I slide. I assume I’m in the minority because they’re so popular. I’m glad it works for most 😂
Wow what a great bass player. The real deal.
the only J that i liked how it sounded was the Pro...
Nice's🎉❤❤🎉
Those harmonics are right out Jacos playbook 🤌🏽🤌🏽
Get a Glarry if you want to mod something.
🙏🏼
Spend a little more on the Mexican instruments INCREDIBLE VALUE FOR $1000.00!!!
How many times is a grown man gonna say the word "like" in 2 min?

American pro cissy is the new line
@@cacadordorio I know, and I don't like them. And I don't know what 'cissy' means.
Do not play chords on a bass~!!!! I can tell this guy is a guitarist!!!
Nobody cares but the bass player .
Bands want bass players to support them . Just shut up and play bass .
Actually that would look great on a t-shirt. “Just shut up and play bass” 😂
Same goes for drummers or gutarists. Whoever runs the band gets to call the shots. Or do you think there's a guitarist around who would tell Jaco or McCartney to just shut up and play bass? 😂
@@9155Darkhorse Yes there is .
Guitar players, shut up and do your job in the corner while the drummer and the bassist carry the band.
And no ones wants to be in a band with you
Bass is NICE THOUGH😊
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎵🖐
