This is my father-in-law. Such a great man. He’s as much of the gangster as he seems. People don’t have a clue at how important his role in the game really was. He was a great dealer, but an even better father-in-law and grandfather to his grandkids. He dropped one obsession for another. From kingpin to family man in one lifetime. He’s a legend. ❤
Hahahah crazy people just have no time and just cap so hard like this like what the point in this ???😂😂
Man brings my mother Panama Red which is practically the only known of 100% sativa strain, then writes the book called Indica. I just love this man’s dialect.
Steve's story is a blockbuster waiting to happen
@@Impeachbiden2024no its not that literally couldnt be any further from this dudes story tf r u talkin about😂
As long as Disney don't get ahold of it and ruin it like they did with Star Wars and everything else!! 😂😂 I'm just sayin!! Cuz there's also talks of Disney remaking Rated-R movies for KIDS!! 😮😮😢😢😢 YEUUUP!! YOU READ THAT RIGHT!! LMFAOOOO!! 🤣 It's a sad world we're living in rn!! Smh 😅 HAHA I sure hope they don't do this tho!!.. I just don't understand why these pedo pervs are trying so hard to expose CHILDREN to bad things, nasty things.. Etc.. SMFH
Listen to Lex Fridman's podcast fir the similar story of Roger Reaves, another other man from Georgia who became a pilot for Pablo Escobar. He's had a crazy life
He's far from the first person to grow Indica in Jamaica. Famously, the indentured Indian labourers from the 19th century took their Indian ganja cultivars with them to the West Indies, which were by definition Indica.
As such, most of the sativa from Jamaica started off as indica 100 yrs ago, before acclimating and taking on sativa characteristics
You are correct!! I am from Trinidad and Tobago, born in the 1950's. Weed was sold in shop when l was a child, the Hindu pundits smoked ganja during prayers, and the indentured Indians on the sugar estates smoked weed before and atfter the days work on the sugar plantations here in the West lndies.
That is my knowledge of weed in the Caribbean.
This should be a movie
100% should be a movie! 🍿
Brad Pitt should star in it!
From #Dad of #TDsFamilyTV
Just purchased the book recently and about 3/4 of the way through, and now I'm also a cheerleader for a movie to be made based upon it!!
Somebody in the industry .... please, PLEASE make this happen!!!!
@@josephs2640 my copy just arrived but I’m saving the read for holidays next week 👍
“We was sitting there and then it got dark and then it got light and then it got dark again”😂😂😂😂😂 I sat there for 2 days in the same clothes at the same table 😂😂😂😂
At first he when he said it got dark I was like yeah it tends to do that then he proceeded and had a giggle
History is full of people who got ahead by realizing "hey racism is bullshit, its about the individual person and their skills/choices". Hearing it from that southern drawl is a rare treat.
Thanks for making this interview happen; to Steve and the Connect team as a whole.
Lol- you don't know about N Georgia, do you? He's leaving out/altering a lot for a good story. Please, look for yourself, who got away with what & what direction the money actually flowed.
Y'all people are obsessed. All y'all think about is racists. Lookin for the boogeyman. People are sick nowadays. Go vote for some demoncrat politician to make yourself feel clean.
Racism IS bullshit! It's still been the justification & normalization of an economic caste system US has followed since the 17thC. .This BS, an economic system/business model, was made into law & protected by politicians, churches & culture. N GA was definitely a racist piece of shit area. Lol- still today the Kkk are trying to "adopt a highway" and now have resorted to using language to describe themselves from the very Civil Rights movement whose supporters they beat, tortured, murdered, r@ped, bombed & burned to stop.
@@sergegainsbourgii1852 I'm assuming he was racist at the time, but you have to understand most diehards wouldnt be willing to alter the story and they stand proudly on that white supremacy bs. So i like this story more than most
@ThexInsidexMan revisionism is the most consistent feature of US WS. It always depends on who's cutting the check &/or saving face-- Truth is irrelevant to them. N Georgia was hell for black people during enslavement & Apartheid (when this dude was active).
Steve is so cool. He could have made more money selling powder but he knew how bad the $hit was and pot never hurt anyone. What a story he has to tell. I'm off to Amazon to order his book.
Pot has hurt a lot of people. Lots of people had their lives ruined over it, being in prison and all.
I started smoking pot in the late 1980s in Pittsburgh and have moved small weight at times mostly to make it free for me. Thank you for your service.
Great interview, Steve's a great genuine guy, not something you can say about many people who have been in the same industry.
I was born in 79 when I was little 5$ was a lot of money. You could buy so much with it. 20$ was a substantial amount. I could not imagine 200 $ in the 50s
This episode was amazing, this is exactly the type of thing I love to view.
You can tell when someone really lived it. Great storyteller
i could listen to old heads talk game for hours
That was the best story you’ve had on your show. Watched the entire episode 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Flowering time on Sativas are also alot longer than Indica .
Everything is longer with sativa. The only thing better about sativa is the high assuming you want to function. More water, needs more light, more flowering time, spindly buds... its the reason it got hybridized.
Sativa gets tall AF!! I grew a mango haze couple years back. I live in northern Michigan....not your ideal location for sativa dominant at all!! It lasted till November 1st until it started snowing. Wasn't quite to the maturity I wanted but surprisingly most the leaves were still green and no mold. I like the uplifting effects of sativa but unfortunately It is just not worth trying to grow up here unless you got a greenhouse or indoor grow.
This worldwide distribution of genetics is a double edged sword ..... On one hand it increased efficiency by lowering flower times and encouraged interesting crosses ....
On the other hand ......
It very quickly facilitated the dilution and oftentimes even the extinction of unique sativa landrace genetics that were isolated for thousands of years.
One can only wonder what special and extraordinary traits have been lost forever due to the obliteration of landrace varietals of so many equatorial sativas
@@Damyankee1989there’s some great sativa auto flowers available, could solve your problem bro 👊
These are the stories everyone wants to hear old school ❤
Best one yet ! Usually I can’t sit through almost 2 hours but it just flew by .
This is my father in law too , he told us he was a dentist?
What the hell dad
I read his book and my business is booming since
his story about crack reminds me of my own addiction to alcohol. I remember when I was really on a bender time would just fly by like you were literally teleporting. Luckily I never got worse than like 3-4 days and that's when I was really bad. The extended blackout benders were kind of few and far between but really culminations of stress in my life. So mostly it would just be a 1 day teleport, where I would wake up all like oh my god I blacked out so bad I no called no showed work, personal friends and family are calling me, I have texts and messenger messages all stacked up. That's the hardest part about being sober if you are an alcoholic/drug addict etc just how much time there really is in a day and how boring most days in regular life truly are.
Thank you sir for all of the good smoke back in the day, and what it has led to today!
I haven’t heard such an interesting podcast for a while now! I’m going to buy this guys book now!
This is amazing we need a part 2 , I’m watching this for my second time , i showed this to my grandpa and he said it reminded him a lot about some of the old shit he used to get into, super cool man
Feels like yesterday my family always had a grow behind the farm 🚜 fields be fishing 🎣 and that smell just blows your way goodtimes
One of the most interesting dudes I’ve heard… such an interesting listen
9$ a kilo!?!!??? Holy hell😂 I thought when my dad said he used to get a qp for 40-50$ was a good deal😂😂😂
We used to buy pounds for $400 in 90's and I thought we were doing good. We were doing good we made $1200 per pound profit but this dude is really making a lick. Dayum.
Well this was good I appreciate that the man wondered around in life with the Ups and downs of life
Look this guy is me from 2003-2014 he make so much sense of you know but I’m inclined to believe this this is your grandad, I love it
And he looks damn good for his age after all that. His health seems to be damn good too.
Hysterical.. awesome American hero story🤘🤪..lmao when he said oh im sure they found the boat it was sticking up a bit( points to sky😂
I love this dude, the definition of the term OG
Steve is a real OG !
Yeah he is a great guy. I have the pleasure of knowing him. His book is excellent. When is life becomes a movie I'll sell my signed t-shirt and book of his and double my money
Ganja held Jamaica's economy afloat in the 70s and 80s, I guess he is one of the guys who helped lol
I love Indica. It helps me sleep thank God it was created.
I don't understand how people can go to sleep while they are high. I have never been able to go to sleep while high.
1:22:37 bro said “it’s sad, drought in the summer when you spend the 4th of July and nobody has pot. The 4th of July and you can’t even smoke a joint. Anyway, that’s the drought.” 😂😂😂😂
This guy needs a movie about his life !
Canadian boy here, used to take trips down to St Pete’s beach with my family growing up and one year this guy and I started chalking it up talking and he told me “ya back in the 70s you would just find bales of weed out in the gulf and you would get your buddy with a boat and go scoop one or two up”. Wonder how many people were running d0pe like that around that time?… 57:38
I currently live in Saint Petersburg. Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. He's telling the truth. Each is on opposite coast and it was pretty frequent. Most times it was water logged and it be sea weed. Also would find in the Everglades dropped from plans. Less frequent. Definitely lots of growing up down there and Spring break
This the first one ive watched all way thru. Amazing. Love ya pops ✊️
One of the best of this channel’s interviews for sure.
Listened to it twice now. Can’t get enough of this guy and his story.
Dude was doing crime, but clearly was in it for the money… with morals/rules that kept him from many of the more modern downfalls of the former younger guests.
Also love the interplay between southern culture and his success.
“Yeah, he sells pot. He’s not hurting anybody.”
Dude seems like a good guy doing things outside the federal law.
Sounds pretty southern to me! Haha
God bless this wise man for telling us his story, but I pray he doesn't get in trouble for sharing it.
Reminds me of John Malkovich. 40k in 1965 is $394,064.76 today. SHEEEESH.
A new viewer here, watched the California prison guard “Hector Bravo” video and have been hooked watching videos since.
what would the world be like if we were all the same. great podcast. Steve is a legend
Fascinating interview!
You can tell some deep stuff went down in Jamaica.😮Great guest!❤🎉
Wow what an amazing interview. Thank you
Man this was a really GREAT episode. And this is a really GREAT channel. SUBSCRIBED DEFINITELY
They still dont search any military equipment unless it gets reported
San Diego, early 2000s. Hawaiian skinny military kid comes to our house, checks the merchandise. Then goes to target and gets huge CCM hockey goalie bags. ‘Hockey’… stuffs them up and jumps back on the navy ship and goes back to Hawaii. Did it a couple of times. Now what the fuck is a tiny skinny Hawaiian kid doing with CCM hockey GOALIE bags??! 🫣🤣 but he did it. At least a couple times. Wonder what happened to that kid. lol
This is the best “Connect” video by far.
dude i agree i havent watched in a while I randomly watched this the day it dropped and I'm blown away. went back looking but no other episodes peaked my interested that I haven't seen b4

I wish I could tell what I was doing 55 years ago at 14 in a small town in Georgia. It was similar.
The buddy he references smuggling g seeds in his hair from Afghanistan, has to be the same shadowy figure that is so prominent in the Kentucky Bud trade that is referenced in Corn Bread Mafia book. Has to be

I love these life story's,what a great soul.blessings YES HE IS A LEGEND❤
When he said your a little high now, I died laughing!
I used to buy 20 pounds a week in 1988 for 250 to 350 a pound in N.Y and sold a quarter pound for $250 to $350 a pound..i also used to pay $550 a pd for Hawaiin sensimillia n sold it for $1,200 n it had white ,gree, gold, yellow n it was beautiful..those were the days 😊
That is the coolest guy I’ve ever seen on the show and that’s really a prestigious honor Johnny boy
Freedom appreciates this man.
this dude is from that same golden era of pot/hash dealers and smugglers like Howard Marks rip. they made a movie about Howard called Mr. Nice but the book by the same name and another one called "book of dope stories". Gireat books for anyone thats ever been in the game or finds in interesting. great episode!
Yeah great book , also there's one about the hippie Mafia smuggling dope into USA in 70s .. sure he was apart of it ..called smuggler by Richard Stratton .. great read .. or ..Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts .. big book about drug smuggling in India .. he escaped prison in Aussie in 70s , came to NZ (no passports between Aussie ,NZ, till early 80s) then from NZ to India via NZ merchant ship , we had biggest merchant navy in Southern hemisphere at that point .. hence we were drug paradise back in 70s ,,
You have to read Mr nice a few times as he's up to so much you lose track , , just like Shantaram.. H Marks also wrote a book about smuggling E's as well ..
This guy is the real deal. Love it!
This might be your best interview. Very good.
Best interview ever. Thank you.
This man is definitely from North North Ga for sure!!!
Great interview..,.....love his southern accent,.....dude should be in (movies, tv, commercials) with that southern drawl, charm, wit.....😅...!!
This is one of the easiest interviewees to listen to! He reminds me of the older guy who was on DjVlad who used to smuggle for Pablo. Drawing a blank on his name at the moment.
I've been smoking for 37 years daily it is my medicine my faves are sativa and or hybrid😊
Great interview.
Great interview ❗️
One of the greatest interviews I've ever watched.
The cow manure thing is surely imported from India, which was also an English colony. A lot of cultural trades between these countries, like the chillum and so on
@@rasterman2792 Cow manure is natural and harmless, a lot of stuff people put in their hair is straight harmful
Awesome interview. God bless
What a major score of an interview! I smoked this cats panama red. I always wondered who was doing it. Thanks for letting me learn. Yes! This guy was "the guy" we could never meet. But we were told he was a Ga. farmer. And here he is. In addition, we used Jamaican Indiga and I speak patois and we always wondered who the "hick" was who was from Ga that made em all rich. This guy has a reputation for making sure that everybody made LOTS of money. Great job with the interview.
Absolutly love this interview its kinda how all of us dealers want to end up like
How and why?!? He got caught and robbed and all that. Forfeiture etc. it’s absolutely amazing the comment sections of all these prison genres praising all the cons. Cons got caught! Why would you wanna be like these people!?!? WTF?
It’s easy to impress you people huh? 😆
No dummy cause all that shit you just named is part of the game if you really lived that life so far him still having his millions and still being able to be a free man after changing the entire way weed was grown and smoked is amazing cause alotta dude don't make it to be able to do that
You clearly didn’t watch the whole video or pay attention dummy. He didn’t walk away with the money foolio @@anello9562

This guy has a great story telling ability and the host did very well with the interview also
Brilliant story. Just bought the book. Thanks Steve. What a guy!
Wish there was more pure indica availability
An honor to meet you
This was an actual good conversation
I used to work with this guy when I was 4 years old way back in my whiskey drinking days. 1973. We would always toss back a few shots until I was 5 then I switched to Jamaican rum cause it was free. The locals would hook me up with a half gallon for some bud. It was the beginning of the rasta man movement.
That voice sounds like everybody I grew up around 😂 Thank you for your service, Steve 👨🏼🌾
