To me it just makes a lot of sense. If it was built during the Heresy era for Imperial Guard use, and (like other antiques from that era) it still exists in running shape, they'd use every resource they could, including antiques. Much like the Space Marines will recycle antique armor and weapons like sacred relics. So why wouldn't there be a few ancient, Heresy era, tanks still being used? Especially on Imperial worlds where there's not much in the way of manufactorums or a steady supply of new arms and armor from offworld. Some nearly lost dirt water colony world on the fringes holding on and keeping Imperial rule in place.
I mean, what would they do if you entirely kitbashed a heavily modified Heresy era antique tank? One that was only built on one world from parts from two or three tanks of the era. And then added a lot of repairs to make it seem as though it had been rebuilt numerous times. Made an awesome lore piece to tell story in your army. Made it all out of GW parts. No outside bits. And had it "count as" a certain tank for a tournament. Would they still toss it out because their "money" reasons? They're listening entirely too much to shareholders these days.
I always love a tank video, great job on adding another one to your collection Andy. I really want a fellblade for my iron warriors, it does kinda suck that I’d have to use legends rules for it but I still want one it’s such a cool looking tank. And I do plan on adding the plastic solar auxilia tanks especially the leman russ into my traitor themed guard army they are soooo much nicer than the original I see no reason not to.
Great video Andy. I look forward to all you videos. As far as the Solar Auxillia models, why not use them in 40k? 😊I love the "ancient technology" feel they give to the Krieg. Honestly, I'm gonna use the Solar Auxillia infantry as well... troops from a distant world using equipment left during the great crusade. Just my thoughts...
Wonderful video Andy! And yes, we need more inspiration and ideas for 30k models in 40k! I really want to use the Solar Auxilia infantry in 40k. That said, the tanks are amazing, the one 'hmm' moment I had here, was while I loved the 'keep clear' transfer on the door, um does that really suit Death Korps, or if someone got swatted by the door would they say 'serves you right'? Anyway, please keep videos like this coming!
Great video! I have never been much fan of imperial guard, but I must admit that the new solar auxulia models ha e me questioning that 😅 If I ever get into inperial guard, it will definately be based on the solar auxilia range!
I've got 3 Leman Russ tanks for 40k but definitely looking at using the Heresy version for a Tank Commander, because it looks a bit fancier. Thats pretty minor, but I love getting models and making them my own and using them for something else (bonus points if it saves me some cash) like the AOS Savage Orruk boys I've been building up as Beast Snaggas so they look much more feral than the official ones, or the various Necromunda gangs that can be used to make characters for other armies - a box of Cawdor is all the priests/preachers your Guard or Sisters army will ever need, Delaque make great GSC leaders, heck most Necromunda gangers would look great as either Genestealer or Chaos cultists. And of course, any vehicle you want is an Ork vehicle.
The Armiger and Questoris Knight kits are sold in both 40k and 30k styles, the only difference is the transfer sheet that is included and any relevant artwork. They can do it, just don't for some reason :(
I've already got most of the vehicles I want for my Krieg army from forgeworld...thing is I've got so many spare parts l could convert the new solar auxila tanks to alpha patterns you get 10 in resin you get 2 sets of front weapons opinions lascanons or heavy bolters. Id quite like to see an update on your kireg army btw.
My only "problem" is that my custom Space Marine chapter is Primaris, so hard to put HH vehicles into it lol. I'm thinking about head-canoning them finding a lost bunker somewhere filled with **redacted** legion gear left over from the grand crusade.
This piece of artillery looks so much better than the 40k Basilisk. I bought three for my Imperial Guard army (I refuse to call it Astra Militarum - sorry) as "counts-as" Basilisks ... btw great job you did on the Medusa. 😁
The reason they don't want models shared between systems isn't so they know what system is making them money, its so you have to buy into more than one system if you want to play it
Though i do have a full emperor's children 40k army, the newer heresy models are just too clean to not use. I've committed myself to building a 1:1 copy of my EC in their founding colors while also expanding enough to play a legal heresy army too. Fielding a clean army like that is really my passion project, it's a shame some stuff can't transfer between systems
I thought the Malcador tank (which I bought after your video) was an awsome model but this one knocks it out of the park! Luckily I don't play any system so just buy it if I like it. On the subject of transfers however I just find GW's transfer sheets uninspiring - especially the Ork sheet which I don't think has been updated for decades....?
so, not to nitpick because the differences are *almost* negligable. The old armoured/armageddon medusa with the enclosed crew space was still based on the standard chimera hull. The Sola Aux one is on the Russ... but rule of cool rules over all.
Then you've got the whole GW female Custodes lore rewrite. Yeah the GW business model from the US side is in trouble in my opinion needlessly. They better hope the Cavil-Amazon thing is a smashing success.
Gw are kinda shooting themselves in the foot by not letting minis go between game systems, I mean your a business and you like to make money so why not let them buy more models and play with them this whole teasing back and forth between yes these models are legal vs are no longer legal after we buy a lot is annoying and feels like a spit in the face
That's a downvote champ. Everyone that paints Solar Auxilia as krieg/renegates/insert 40k regiment here is getting a downvote. :) It's still an engagement tho.
Alright calm down sheriff badass Mc30k. I think your comment and the way it's worded makes you look like the kind of guy that gets high on his own farts, it's ok I'm telling you this though because it's still engagement 👍

Dam straight. Glad you agree pal.

Absolutely agree and I think your should for sure get a fellblade. One of the best looking tanks they have ever designed.
Cracking job Andy! Therapeutic watching you airbrush lol! Great message, buy the models you want!
Glad you liked it pal.
The beauty of the Horus Heresy kits is that anything that the Imperial Fist used can be used by the Black Templars . 👍

Great idea. Or a knight house personal guard.
Excellent work! I agree that GW makes very good decals. Even in their older kit the decals went on the models perfectly. Thanks for sharing this.
I think the mistake was calling them water decals or whatever they said, once you have the right tools they're great!
Between Krieg and Old World black orcs, Andy is personally working through my project list.
HahahHa we have good taste.
Looks good for Steel Legion too . 👍
Brilliant! This may have sold me on this kit and got me motivated to work on my DKoK ahain!
Oh awesome! have fun with it!
was thinking about doing the same with some Heresy basilisks. Now I am defenately going forward with it.
Yes definitely do it 🙌
Love to see that iwith the whole army, great job
I need to do another showcase soon.
@@MediocreHobbies That would be great.

Hahhaha I don’t think they put the keep clear sign on lol. The factory that made it did.
Great video, will be borrowing your idea. :). What are you using the Dracosan as (rules wise)
A Crassus armoured transport.
Great video! I have never been much fan of imperial guard, but I must admit that the new solar auxulia models ha e me questioning that 😅 If I ever get into inperial guard, it will definately be based on the solar auxilia range!
Sounds like a solid plan.

Ye there so cool. I still need to paint my one up.

But then the lancer is only heresy? Why is that ?
@@MediocreHobbies You're asking for consistency from GW lol
cool idea but why didnt you use the Basilisk variant of the kit? good video as always
I Mention it in the video. I have loads of basilisks guns in the army already. So this was a nice change.

You should try out those conversions-that sounds cool!
My only "problem" is that my custom Space Marine chapter is Primaris, so hard to put HH vehicles into it lol. I'm thinking about head-canoning them finding a lost bunker somewhere filled with **redacted** legion gear left over from the grand crusade.
Oh that would totally work! Yes go for it!
Yet another great vid❤❤❤
Cheers

Thanks pal. And yes much nicer. It’s like 20 years newer after all.
Nice video, I often avoid buying forgeworld or ‘expert’ models due to the rules being subject to legends. Wish id picked up a Knarloc now though
Great prints available for him now
Possibly using the light sentinels driver less to use as kill team terrain.
I may go with the hydra though crewless
Oh both good ideas! Love the idea of using them as terrain!
The reason they don't want models shared between systems isn't so they know what system is making them money, its so you have to buy into more than one system if you want to play it
Fair point!
Need too get 1-2 for my dkok, when my group takes a break from the old world. I hope we can get a mecharius in plastic someday
That would be awesome.
Tanks for the tutorial!
Hahaha nice.

Oh crap your rite. I had forgotten that.
Follow your muse, paint what you want and play the games you want is my advice for any wargamer.
No better words.
Didn't Krieg have a whole roster of old 30k style tanks? Specifically siege tanks? Was it in Vraks or Imperial Armour?
They were indeed. They still do.
More more , still waiting for another full army showcase
Want to pint a few more nice tanks first.
nice one i was thinking the same
Glad to hear.
"Why aren't they selling it as both?"
Cos they want the sales figures for each game to understand the different audiences, basically.
True.
Not growing up in 40K it's all confusing as to what can mix with what so I stick with epic/30K stuff.
That’s fair.
very nice
Cheers.
Ahhhh. Krieg time again 😊
It’s always Krieg time!
Came for the tank, stayed to say I finally have transfers for my Bretonnian army 😂
Hahahah it’s about time.
👍
Glad you liked it.
More death boxes
HahahHa yes sir.
We can't even get models in US. Good on ya!
How come ?
Really don't know.
It's pushing a lot of US customers to recasters. Personally, I dislike the new Warhammer website.
Then you've got the whole GW female Custodes lore rewrite. Yeah the GW business model from the US side is in trouble in my opinion needlessly. They better hope the Cavil-Amazon thing is a smashing success.
For example, I want to buy a Thunderbolt. Nope out of stock.

I know it doesn’t make sense, each game is from a different part of the company all trying to hit different goals! Cheers for the comment

@@MediocreHobbies 😜It's only a jk. I have a DKoK army too with many vehicles shared between the two.
