      this video is wrong
      the entire point of stoicism is not to compare yourselves to others but strive to be your best self
      stop making stoicism a personality contest. its the opposite of one.

    First i want to express my gratitude towards you, your content & your motivation to spread such a healthy mindset to others, I never knew about stoicism, and upon watching your channel I came to realize how much I try to aspire to these teachings and how you express them so eloquently very inspiring for me and motivating to work harder to integrate them thank you!
    I see in the comment section you welcome and encourage critical thoughts about your content, first i want to praise your writing and explanations, beautifully written resonates profoundly with me, it really feels that you not only understand but embody and live these teaching yourself, you don't only copy what has been expressed already but put it in your own words, modernize it, you add a bit of yourself to the teachings, very refreshing and feels very genuine.
    I won't touch upon the algorithm friendly choices you made, although the title of this video i can see how it might deter some people who practice this/have a similar mindset already away as it does give a generic mainstream "self help" cheese vibe (personally). though on the flip side it might entice the demographic who would very much benefit from these teachings.
    I resonated a lot more with the previous voice you used, a more deeper, calm matter of fact wiser voice, felt more stoic. this AI voice (am i wrong?) is by all means more advanced at mimicking human inflections and emotion, though the tone and execution feels a little too much personally (also the unnerving feel that is very close to human but not quite there) . the previous voice albeit perfect itself was more matter of fact also pacing the previous gave the illusion of time to sink in what is said, my thoughts would be take the great qualities of the previous and improve upon them, i am not sure technicalities as i am clueless in the circle of AI voice generation. best would be a real deep wise older human voice over but understand that is costly.
    Thank you for taking the time to listen to my personal opinions and critique, you do great work i am very grateful to have come across this channel it has impacted my life for the better.
    P.s i wanted to add that this voice is not bad or a detriment to your content it does a fine job in my opinion, and its nothing against what you do! love it all thanks again

      @connorheather6550, first and foremost, I'm deeply touched by your genuine appreciation for the content we put out. Knowing that our channel has introduced you to the enriching world of stoicism and has positively impacted your life is both humbling and motivating.
      You've brought up some insightful observations about the modern presentation of ancient teachings. It's a conscious effort on our part to ensure that these timeless philosophies are made relevant to our present-day context. The personal touch you mentioned is an outcome of our deep-rooted belief in the tenets of stoicism and our commitment to living them.
      Regarding the title and voiceover, your feedback is golden. We often grapple with decisions like title choice, aiming to strike a balance between reaching a wider audience and staying true to the philosophy's essence. As for the voiceovers, the initial AI-generated voice was a step in exploring the vast capabilities of technology. In contrast, the recent change was made in an attempt to capture a more genuine human emotion. Your candid thoughts on preferring the depth and pacing of the previous voice are invaluable. It's feedback like this that helps shape our channel's evolution.
      I truly appreciate you not only for taking the time to share your perspective but also for doing so in such a constructive manner. This community thrives because of engaged members like you. Let's continue our stoic journey, embracing wisdom, courage, and growth together.

    Hey Jack, another good vid, thx! I get negative visualization is a core principle of Stoicism, but that related to the most powerful man in the world, 1,800 years ago.
    fMRI studies *prove the placebo effect is far greater than any measurement previously identified; I.e, one gets what they think about.
    If one expects to meet & interact with only negative people, it’s surely what they’ll get-at least in relation to those who have a positive-while realistic-view of the world

It's a valuable practice for anyone looking to improve their mindset and outlook on life. 🌅
      And you make a great point about the power of the placebo effect! It's amazing how our thoughts and expectations can shape our reality. 🤯 That's why it's important to cultivate a positive and realistic view of the world, as you mentioned. 👀

    These recent videos don't speak to me. How would "getting ahead of people" be considered Stoic? A true Stoic wouldn't compare the success and results of the people around him to himself, simply because it is detrimental to his happiness. Your channel started off great with Stoic morning and night routines, and captivating videos about mastering emotions, why the sudden change towards becoming yet another generic motivational channel?

    • @jackwilding4990
      @jackwilding4990 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Agree entirely, not really true to the message. This video is a bit of a let down

    • @stoicbond
      @stoicbond  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Thank you for your insightful comment and for holding this channel accountable to the core tenets of Stoicism. You're right that Stoicism teaches against the pitfalls of comparison. When Marcus Aurelius wrote, "Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one," he emphasized the importance of focusing on our own virtue rather than measuring ourselves against others. The intent behind the title "7 Ways How to Get Ahead of 98% of People" was to shed light on the transformative power of Stoicism, suggesting that by genuinely embracing its principles, one might find themselves more at peace and resilient than they might have been otherwise.
      The shift in content was aimed at reaching a broader audience, introducing them to Stoicism in relatable terms. Yet, I understand that the core essence must remain undiluted. In the Stoic context, "getting ahead" isn't about material success or outdoing others, but about mastering our reactions, understanding the dichotomy of control, and living in alignment with nature and reason.
      Stoicism encourages us to grow, evolve, and reflect. Thus, the channel's evolution is a testament to exploring Stoicism's depth in our modern context. Your feedback is a valuable reminder to remain rooted in authentic Stoic teachings, even as we venture into new interpretations.
      I genuinely appreciate your passion for Stoicism and the love for the initial content. Rest assured, we aim to strike a balance between foundational principles and fresh perspectives, catering to both our new and long-time subscribers. As Seneca reminded us, "We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more in imagination than in reality." Let's continue our journey together, ensuring that our discussions always enhance our understanding and application of Stoicism.

      @stoicbond yup yup. 1. The practice I learned in an earlier video I commented on I think titled 7 Stoic Practices for your morning routine. I had already been meditating, and gratitude journaling, but the video shared more about setting intentions and the difference between intentions and goals. I began to set a daily intention which is often the same for a week or more until another is shown to me. I believe you stated that intentions are a way to help us in our alignment of living our values. The intention I set was to show empathy, compassion, love, and joy to all who I had dealings with during my day. Then after writing that intention in my journal I started having specific people in my path through which I knew needed to be shown empathy, love, joy, and compassion. I would act on that and it brought the person those feelings and brought immense satisfaction to me. Currently my intention is to be a good listener and not interrupt when someone is talking with me, but instead to hear them out and let them complete their thought before saying anything or forming any opinion of what their point is.

      @@stoicbond thank you and yes, personally and career wise I was stuck in a vicious cycle. Last year, I would worry and stress over the next call after just having a patient pass away. This unhealthy anticipation would make me think ahead and miss key clues during current or new calls that came in. This had to stop and with diving into stoicism it has. Now with disciplined practice of living in the present, each call is my entire world. The person right in front of me, not who was or who may come, but the out stretched hand that I take is everything to me until they leave me. Only then once they're gone will I move on. It's truly a panacea for every problem I believe.

    Respectfully, isn't trying to get ahead of 98% of people against the whole point of stoicism? All this advice is good but it shouldn't be taken just to get ahead of others.

    • @stoicbond
      @stoicbond  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You've raised an insightful point. Stoicism at its core teaches us to focus on self-improvement and virtue rather than comparing ourselves to others. The title was aimed at capturing attention and conveying the idea of standing out through the practice of Stoic principles, not necessarily in a competitive sense. But your comment serves as a reminder to ensure our messaging aligns closely with the philosophy's true essence. Thanks for your thoughtful feedback and for being a part of the discussion.

    I spent years blaming my problems on betrayal and the pandemic screwing up my plans.
    My real problem was that I attached my self worth to the results I wasn’t getting.
    I could have spent that unavoidable low point cultivating myself. Rather than resentful about my situation.
    I’m repairing that useless mindset.

  • @belly990

    I won't stop, not now, not ever. I've always thought of my ability to overanalyze and "stay in my head" as a curse but I now see I was wrong. I need to mature my brain for it yearns to know the answer to life's struggles. I need to keep thinking, pontificating on what life is really about. I know I've had my recent breakthroughs. Before I wouldn't consider my emotions I thought of them as baggage but of course this is one concept I've been fighting back because understanding is what it means to let those emotions run so that I can think about what's going on with me as a whole. I've also considered my overthinking as a bad thing. As I watch others naturally deal with certain situations without pause, I think I have to be the same but I now see that's not the case. I need to know why, I want to learn why, and I need to never stop knowing why because I want to be at peace even when peace isn't accessible.
