You can take left turn when the signal is green(check there is no incoming vehicles from the opposite side, if they are have priority over you) but if there is left turn arrow signal and if it's red, although you have green signal you cant turn left. Turning right is allowed anytime even if the signal is red, provided there is no vehicle coming on the road you want to turn. If the signal is red, stop check for incoming vehicles and take right turn. Also, keep in mind there should be no pedestrian crossing the road. Look for "do no turn on red sign board". If it's there don't turn right on red signal. If you see a pedestrian crossing the road, although the signal is green don't turn left or right whatever you want to make. Once the pedestrian crosses you can proceed by looking around for incoming vehicles along with traffic signal. Also, while turning left and right if there is dedicated left and right turn lane, you must be on that lane, else drive straight. Don't block the traffic.
