    I enjoyed this video! ❤️🙏🏽 I am happy to see the beautiful reception South Korea extended to Prime Minister Abiy and First Lady Zenash❤️🙏🏽 Ethiopia and South Korea relations goes back to the 1950’s during the Korean War during Emperor Haile Selassie. May this great relationship continue with Prime Minister Abiy❤️🙏🏽 My dad was a Korean War Veteran, he has passed away now but he spoke very highly of South Korea. Thank you❣️🙏🏽

      Please dont mislead people. Haileselassie sent his troops to Korea for his selfish political agenda and not in defense of " democracy" and to achieve world peace. Following the Korean war and as a token of appreciation, the western governments spearheaded with the US rewarded him with a big chunck of territory rich in resources against the will of its inhabitants. Im referring to Eritrea. This was the saddest chapter in our history as it consumed the lives of so many precious lives on both sides.
      South Korea has achieved a lot after overcoming those challenges. Ethiopia, unfortunately remains in endless wars both within and outside its border.
      Let's all pray for Ethiopia to have a wise leader who respects the sovereignty of his neighbors and one who genuinely work for peace.

    While these efforts of economic cooperation between South Korea and African states is commendable albeit slow, it's mind boggling that one country- South Korea, which a few decade ago was poor is hosting an entire continent most of whose states gained independence after WWII, yet remain impoverished due to corruption and external interferences. While commending South Korea for its economic achievements in a matter of few decades as an African it's embarrassing to see African leaders run to their host Countries at the first whistle without any tangible outcomes. Significant percent of African citizens live in poverty despite the enormous natural resources they possess.
    As long as corruption is alive and kicking and the continent's resources are being exploited by external forces the meetings that are being hosted with the developed countries will have no significant importance.

    All the force commanders of the Ethiopian troops that went to fight in Korea were Eritreans. Eritreans played a front role in the modernisation and development of the Ethiopian Defence Forces. South Koreans should also know this critical role and contribution to your freedom!

      Who was the commander of the Ethiopian forces? Was is Aman Andom?

    • @RahimE.Terek-Raba
      @RahimE.Terek-Raba 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Google source: “Yes, General Aman Andom, an Ethiopian citizen of Eritrean descent, played a leading role in the Korean War (1950-1953) by commanding Ethiopian contingents in the conflict. Andom was a Sandhurst graduate and popular military leader who also distinguished himself in the Congo. In 1962, he was promoted to major general and earned the nickname "Desert Lion" during the 1964 Ethiopian-Somali Border War.”

    • @TT-rk4uy
      @TT-rk4uy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@RahimE.Terek-Raba Thank you. He was the only one who could have brought the conflict to an end and find a peaceful solution (as he attempted for couple of years) but the Ethiopians elite betrayed him and sent him to his early death.
      That’s the day the Eritrean highlands lost total hope in the “Ethiopian experiment” and decided to join in droves and joined their brethren muslims who were already felt the burnt of Ethiopian official betrayals.
      As an Eritrean I can’t fathom the stupidity of both HS, Derg and TPLF abd now the Abiy and any future Ethiopian leaders that are yet to be born.

    • @GHaile
      @GHaile 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RahimE.Terek-Raba Thank you for this corroboration. The Eritrean General Aman Michael Andom was the force commander of the Ethiopian contingency that was dispatched to Korea. The government of Emperor Haileselassie incorporated serval panafrican Eritrean military officers to help modernise the Ethiopian defence forces, police force, intelligence units, and special forces. When General Aman led the Korea expedition, the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Armed Forces, the chief of defence operations, and other staff commanders were all Eritreans. The relentless cancel history by Ethiopian historians has tried to burry such facts for a long time. This is also true to the leadership and support by Eritreans in the establishment of Ethiopian Airlines, Postal and Telecommunications Service, Banking and Insurance institutions, etc.
      By saying so, I am in no way trying to minimise the roles and participation of original Ethiopian citizens in all these efforts. But just wanted to highlight the history that's been buried so far.
      Finally, it should also be known to all Koreans and other interested parties why Ethiopia joined the Korean War. In the 1940s Eritrea was occupied by the British representing the allied forces who defeated the colonial Italy. At this point there was rivalry between the US&UK over the destiny of Eritrea. The UK wanted to partiton Eritrea to incorporate Western Eritrea into its Sudanese colony and give Eastern Eritrea to Ethiopia so Ethiopia could have access to the Red Sea. However, the US, through a meeting between the Emperor and Roosevelt that took place aboard a US Navy ship at the suez canal, made a deal to remove the UK and align with the US by standing with the US in all international matters and granting it the right to establish a military/naval base in Eritrea. Ethiopia in turn will get access to the sea by federating Eritrea with Ethiopia under the sovereign crown of the Emperor. Thus, Eritrea was an unlawful gift to the Emperor by the US. This is why the Emperor sent a contingency of his army to Korea to fight under the US command.

      @@jehbuhdieyaspringfield7290the sad reality is all of us who studied in western institutions, they made us to think and model our ability to do anything that serve the western world.
      For example, as an Eritrean, I have yet to come across any Eritrean who wrote a book that serves the interests of the country inside Eritrea, that solves Eritrea real problems.
      This is not specific to Eritrea (actually Eritrea is not bad compared) but to all other countries.
      So to the person who wants to implement Ronald Reagan school, is the objective to teach and mold them to serve the US interests in the long run or to teach them to solve African problems?
