It was more like as a top player who wants to win, choosing yoshi would be considered a road of tough match-up some wouldn't consider worth the investment. You can play the game however you want, fuck you can play Kirby, but no matter how hard you try, you gonna get bodied at the top level.
To think, of all people, Mango was the one to lose to Amsa in GF. You can tell by Mango’s reaction he did not want to be that guy. But for Amsa there’s no better opponent to prove he is one of the best.

This man spent a whole decade of his Melee career in Japan, an especially inactive region. His first major after moving to Canada is the one where he wins. It's entirely possible aMSa in North America is a totally different animal compared to what we've seen before. Can't wait to see more of his inevitable future accomplishments.
I remember 8 years ago when amsa was first beating M2K how "playing more will only hurt him because people will adapt" turns out he is so much better than everybody else even if they adapt to a mid tier they get fucking washed.
He beat arguably the best Mang0 that has ever showed up to The Big House, and without dropping a single set. Historic. There is so much more Melee to be played.
Was just thinking this. I can remember when he first started competing 10yrs ago and he spoke little to no English. Now he can give an entire interview. He really mastered yoshi and another language at the same time. I love this guy

aMSa is incredible man, he really single handedly pioneered and pushed yoshi's metagame and viability in melee over the past decade to the very top :) to win it all at the most stacked supermajor to date!! plus he's hella wholesome :D

He often segways into this topic when he is talking about matchups he thinks yoshi is unfavorable in. Worthy of note, he thinks falco should be his switch in the fox and shiek matchups, but ONLY if he thinks the opponent is really good with fox or shiek.
Melee has become such an exciting game ever since armada retired i feel armada was holding the game back not in the sense of skill but he was so good he kept everyone else down and made the game boring to watch. Ever since he retired people stepped up and won. Zain ibdw amsa axe mango wizzy hbox leffen plup look how big this list of new and old champs we have gotten ever sinse armada retired. And other new players have gotten close and even taken online touries from hbox
sure, its cool seeing so many people do so well, its exciting but i personally also really enjoyed how much of a chokehold armada had on the other players

The first big hurdle was when he beat M2K. That is when he really proved that he had what it takes as a player.
