Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I prefer buildable shadows! For me there is definitely such a thing as TOO much pigment. I think that makes it difficult to blend. I actually really like this pallet with a light shaded tacky base. You're so right on how bad they swatch, I was so disappointed at first, but totally pleased with the results on the eyes. BH cosmetics take me back to Brazil palette it a pressed powder palette it is ment to be buildable as apposed to blendable so you have to work in layers, just an extra tip
For $13 dollars it's definitely not the worst palette but BH do use alot of fake, edited images to make it look alot better than the product really is...
I feel like a lot of ppl think doing eye makeup shouldnt take time, & the color payoff should happen first swipe, because gurus usually edit out the amount of packing & blending they actually do, in their tutorials. Doing eye makeup, especially bold colors, & multi colored themes takes lots of time, effort & patience. I regretted buying this palette at first, because I have a habit of buying before looking at reviews, & so many reviews claimed the pigment was disappointing. Before, when I saw "pressed pigments", I automatically thought "That means the colors will be brighter" but that isnt the case, lol. Thanks for the tips & demo. It was very helpful & made my regret of buying this palette a bit less. Now the regret comes from making myself broke, lol. Fun fact: I accidentally ordered the Rio version, thinking it was the original w/ the mattes & BH wouldnt swap them for me (even though they were the same price😒 I really dont need an all shimmer palette since I also bought their Galaxy Chic palette) so now Ill have both versions. Yay.

Packing or blending on with a small, dense detail brush (luxie ones are amazing!) instead of blending with a fluffy brush is my favorite trick for shadows like this. I probably gave up on this palette too soon too early in my beauty adventure lol you did an amazing look with it 💋

With these types of colors you don't really want it to be super pigmented straight out, it would be so hard to work with if you got super bright green right out of the gate...I'd much rather build a shadow than forget to tap off my brush and end up with an unblendable mess, which has happened to me before, Juvia's Place is one example of a brand where it's really easy for this to happen to you...I use the BH Cosmetics white concealer with this palette and it works nicely

I personally like that you have to build it up! I like taking my time while doing eyeshadow, it's fun. And besides, maybe you wanna go for a more lightly pigmented look, or something more pastel.

I bought the Rio black edition a couple weeks ago when it went on sale for $10. I figured for that price why not. I tried it out yesterday using a NYX white stick as the base. It worked ok and I kept adding and adding but some of the colors just absolutely refused to build up on my eyelid, especially the yellow. I'm happy with it considering the low price I paid and the variety of colors. I only have neutral pallets with the exception of the NYX neon one, also another one that's hard to build color. My 5 year old was delighted though and had me give her an ombre eye of pink-purple-blue which was super cute. I bought several other BH Cosmestic items and plan to make my first makeup review next week. Overall I'm pleased with their products.

I have shitty brushes so I can never pack a shimmer or matte eyeshadow on the lid. I think I have to buy one of those sponge applicators because that's literally my only option at the drugstore. To be honest, I bought this palette maybe 2 years ago because of the hype only to realize upon opening it is that some of the shades are satins which I don't like and some shades like the pinks and deep blues are very similar. I'm in the proces of depoting it and throwing away the shades that I don't like so I will hopefully get more use out of this palette. This was my second palette ever so I definitely jumped into it without even looking at what the palette actually is.
@@MB-lm9fk Many places have great brushes but I don't have a credit card so I can't buy from any of them. I also have small hooded eyes and most of the sets I see have giant blending brushes.

Or a super dense brush. Or an old fashion foam applicator. ;-) Also a tiny bit of water and apply as a cream is a great option, then you just have to make sure you have enough of the pan dry to go back over with the dry, or have a stage quality sealing spray like Ben Nye's to lock it down.
@@KatieCottingham my shades from this palette literally fall off a super dense brush...beleive me I've tried it all 😅The foam applicator works ok for packing colour but when I want a more blended look it doesn't help much 😂 I'm seriously starting to feel like I have a dud palette!

I am not rlly a fan of very pigmented pallets. Why because i tend to mess up. And if u build it up. Its easy especially for blening colors into the transition shade.!.
When i lay down colorful eyeshadow i like to use a white eyeliner as a base when im doing like rainbow lids because the primers ive tried makes my lid dry and crusty and wrinkly
It's not just the pigment. It's just like adding Gesso to a canvas before panting. The "bad" eye has your darker skin tone and the "good" one has a light sticky surface. Also, I think both are nice and serve a purpose :) get more of a pay off by spraying your brush with a setting spray before dipping into the eyeshadow :) I feel like most know this but what the heck..ill post anyway lol

I love your video, but I do believe you should have used the same number of layers of color on both eyes, to really drive home the differences between the white base and not having one.
Basically what I got from this video/the comments was that none of y’all know how to apply eyeshadow to make it pigmented. Always use a base, pat on at first and then blend, and be patient!
you're right! and with some palettes you have to build more due to the consistency of how they're made. Common sense tells some ppl when you use mattes you pat pat, build, blend. and a good primer first. some eyeshadows don't play well w a concealer either
Anytime I use a bh palette I use my clean very slightly dampened bare ring and middle fingers to build and then blend with a fluffy eyeshadow brush...I’ve used bh since 2011 so yeah #protip cuz honestly this seems extra long and a little bit of a waste cus their shadows are so powdery

It’s an ok palette but I did buy the James Charles palette and feel like it would last longer because it is so pigmented and with this palette you just keep going in and in again using more product with the James Charles palette you use less product
Tips for pigmentation:
1. Use an eyeshadow primer base
2. Layer
3. Wet your brush
Ye great tips although I wouldn't wet matt shadows it ruins them.
you should wet your brush if you are using shimmers

only wet for shimmer. but then again, shimmer works best when applied w your finger. popping shadows comes from priming the eye, preferably primer

This pallet seems like a play pallet for when you just want to sit down and take time on your eyeshadow and not just pop on, blend edge and leave.

Yeah, the lighter the base usually helps the pops of color. You could pack the colors lower than you want, then blend up after.

Anita Borozan eBay have great brush sets for cheap! Some wish brushes are good too , at least they work for me 💕

I think one eye looked good and one not as good
Alot of the shades in this palette are applied better with fingers...the yellows especially disappear as soon as a brush touches it 😥

I only have trouble with the opacity of the yellows, and the purples don’t blend and build nice for me.

Basically what I got from this video/the comments was that none of y’all know how to apply eyeshadow to make it pigmented. Always use a base, pat on at first and then blend, and be patient!

you're right! and with some palettes you have to build more due to the consistency of how they're made. Common sense tells some ppl when you use mattes you pat pat, build, blend. and a good primer first. some eyeshadows don't play well w a concealer either
Anytime I use a bh palette I use my clean very slightly dampened bare ring and middle fingers to build and then blend with a fluffy eyeshadow brush...I’ve used bh since 2011 so yeah #protip cuz honestly this seems extra long and a little bit of a waste cus their shadows are so powdery

Reds and pinks almost always stain the lid unlike other colors but it's perfectly normal! It's just the dye in the color❤

It’s an ok palette but I did buy the James Charles palette and feel like it would last longer because it is so pigmented and with this palette you just keep going in and in again using more product with the James Charles palette you use less product
