Good job. A few things I've done since nearly rolling my 3CX-Compact off a mountain last year that make life safer and more productive. First, a set of 4 tire chains with v-bars welded on the links. It protects the tires from rock really well, and traction on slopes is at least 5 times better. Second, wear that seat belt and kick the tourist out of your cab. Even one roll will toss you out and then the machine will crush you. Plus, he could have been throwing stones into the wheel holes to make things go quicker. Lastly, carry two long 30,000 pound limit synthetic rigging straps (say 50 foot ones). When you get in a rough spot, the first one can go from the backhoe slide frame to a tree to make sure the machine doesn't go all the way down the hill, and the second can be rigged from a tree to your backhoe bucket. You can just use that to winch yourself back onto the road. Good job on the escape, though. I can tell you I was pretty nervous when my JCB was teetering back and forth on the mountain.

I would just add my 5 cents - instead of pulling himself out with backhoe, which gave him less traction on back left wheel, I would rather try pushing sideways and a bit up with backhoe, preventing rollover and trying to get grip on rear left wheel to pull out. But that's from camera point of view, who knows what I would've done if I were there.

All you have to do is push your front bucket into the ground and then push backwards with it while pulling backwards with the backhoe arm . Or keep pushing the rear end around to his right until he can get a better grip with the front bucket .
To get out of this you dig a big hole as far over on the other side of the road as you can, so you can put the whole rear bucket in the hole. Then you can pull with straight horizontal force without leveraging the front end down. Sometimes it's also good to turn off the 4wd cuz those spinning front wheels are just gonna dig you in deeper. One time I was similarly stuck but in a place where everything was steeper, the road and the drop-off. I put the front bucket down flat and lifted up the front tires and piled feed sacks filled with dirt under the tires cuz the front axle was totally buried. Came right out when I pulled intelligently with the tail. Practice. And before it gets totally f'd turn the thing off and think for a bit, get advice from other experienced operators.
Yeah so good advice. Turn it off and think. I reckon if he had put the scoop over the side opposite the back wheel in the air and pushed it down so both back wheels had traction, he would have been out. He never should have let the bloke in the 4WD pressure him to go to such a stupid place either.
I'm sorry Drone B, but from what I see here, the Operator is not "skillful and experienced". For a start, don't leave the front bucket on the ground and expect the backhoe to pull you out. You have another person in the cab there, why didn't you get him to tilt the bucket back as you tried to pull with the backhoe? Or why didn't you use the backhoe to bring the arse of the tractor round more square on to the road as you were pulling. The problem is the left hand rear wheel is hanging in mid air, it won't get any traction in air, no matter how hard you rev it. I appreciate your videos Drone B, but please don't tell me that this Operator knows what he is doing. Send him to a training school specialising in Plant Operation. From an Operator of 45 years experience.
He has no idea about getting his equipment out of such situations. You had to put the rear bucket on the back of the excavator and, above all, raise the front bucket when pulling up. Man is saved with the rear bucket and the front one deep in the ground

We are told he is a very experienced Operator, well all I can say is they must have some real galoots on machines wherever this is. I hate to get personal, and everyone has to learn, but the side of a boggy mountain such as this is not the place to do it.

Kładzie się przednią łyżkę na płasko tak aby stabilizowała przechył w poziomie, Tylną łyżką podnosimy delikatnie tył i przestawiamy tylne koła na twarde - w tym przypadku do środka drogi, (hamulec postojowy powinien być zaciągniety jak i podpory tylne wysunięte). Gdy koparka już będzie na twardym wtedy dopiero pomagamy sobie łyżkami. Prościej, szybciej i bezpieczniej.

If he had swung his boom to his left and extended it, to act as a left side counter weight, and used his front bucket and reversing to ease himself back, he would have done a lot better than what he did here.
Oh where to begin with these ding-dongs. 1) If you are going to use your back bucket, extend it all the way out to the uphill side as a counter weight. 2) If you are going to push down with the back bucket, you have zero movement of the machine. Maybe that is ok if you need to stabilize the machine for rescue. Definitely don't push down via the uphill side of your machine. 3) DO NOT have another person in the cab, he will flip out and die. How I would have done this: 1) Get a shovel and level the ground a bit. The machine won't roll uphill. 2) put some material around/under the tires for traction. 3) Keep the backhoe extended out uphill, counterweight. 3) Lock the back differentials 4) Keep your front bucket very low. Dig, dig, dig, dig with a shovel. 5) Go very slowly. If your back tires spin, they are just digging you in even deeper.
Its a shovel on the front, the bucket is at the back and easily capable of pulling a 3CX backwards out of this if only he had placed front shovel flat. Meanwhile, the whole village is watching and he has a useless companion in the cab who needs to get out fast. Next step here is to get some professional training.

Why not just use the stabilizers to lift and level the machine and then fill in the hole under the right rear wheel to get out???
