People call Railfans "foamers" because we get so Excited!!!!!! But at 6:31, man with camera 📷 should be a "GLAZER!" just stumbling by with glassy eyes 👀 😍 and walking in front of our camera 📷 😳.....REMEMBER!!: "SAFETY FIRST 1ST!! O.K.!! HI 👋!! M. FB.26. 2024A.D.
Very glad to see that this locomotive is back in operational service, ATSF 2926 is now the largest 4-8-4 type locomotive in operation now & this is indicated by the ATSF 2900 class weight measurements. Hopefully later on this year the 2926 will have a chance to haul passenger excursion trains across the southwestern USA territory so that it can stretch it's driving wheels.
The 2900s are ridiculously huge for 4-8-4s. If the measurements I've read are correct, 2926 is actually larger than Union Pacific's (soon to be restored) 2-10-2 5511 in most aspects. I can't even imagine what the 5000-class 2-10-4s must have been like in operation. Santa Fe just managed to run utterly massive nonarticulated engines.
Many want 3751 to doublehead with this 2926, But 3751 has a mechanical problem with the small tender with only 2 of the 6 wheel trucks!! Thus: switch to LARGER tenders with another 2900 4-8-4; or possibly use the tender of the (3) 5011 series 2-10-4 TEXAS CLASS: Because: 5011 is in St Louis; 5017 is at Green Bay; and, 5030 is by Sacremento. Santa Fe is Back in Business.
It’s always a day worth celebrating when a locomotive comes to life like this. Great documentation as always!
Thank you!

Contrats to the 2926 people! Nice work!
I was in Albuquerque on vacation in 1988 and took a selfish beside the 2926 when it was in Coronado Park. Never thought it would be steaming again.
i remember when it was there, i never passed it that it didn't hurt a little seeing it so forlorn and dejected. then one day it was gone.
Good video!
Amazing steam
This was an awesome day. Amazing shots too!
It sure was! Thank you :)
Great video! Hah also you can see me sprint into the site
Thank you! Your pretty quick haha! Hope you got some good shots :)
@@waysiderailfan i sure did and to give a little sneak peek i had a camera in the cab during the move.
02:35 That's what I'm talking about!
Wonderful machine! Love the folding chimney!
Delighted Thanks ❤ 🎉
Welcome new excursion star. ATSF #2926 is alive again. ATSF #2926 steams again. Cant wait to see you on the mainline ATSF #2926.

Now thats a steam locomotive!
2:45, I think this would be how SP 4449 would sound like if she still had her 6 chime whistle today
I knew I shoulda toined left here !
0:52
I agree
Didn’t know 2926 had a boxpok driver
I bet too the engine will be fitted with Positive Train Control
I think it already has. I may be wrong though
Can anybody tell me when the '26 will hit the main?
It’s hard to say, as far as I know the locomotive is ready. They are just waiting for permission from BNSF.
I bet most people all around town besides the railfans heard that loud whistle
Probably! I’d say the whistle is much louder than normal train horns.
@@waysiderailfan looks like the SD70ACEs horn now is getting a run for its money as the SD70ACE has the loudest horn I've ever heard
Tbh, 2926's 6 chime whitstle sounds similar to Nkp 765's current Nathan 6 chime
Does anyone agree that this train should meet up with 3751.
That would be pretty cool!
I've never seen a steam locomotive with a retractable funnel (what you Americans call the "smokestack"), what is the purpose of that?
It's to aid in smokebox drafting , also aids in the same sence as smoke lifters .....
Did they convert her to oil or leave her coal burning?
She is running on oil now.
