His final words on stage were always, "Never apologize for being patriotic. Fuck 'em." He will be missed. RIP cowboy and thanks so much for the songs and the memories.
As the daughter of a Guardsman and the granddaughter of a Marine, the only thing more important to me than my gratefulness in being an American is my faith. I had the opportunity to see Toby in concert in Raleigh, NC in July of 2015. It was fantastic, but I can’t even begin to put into words how impressive the salute to our country and those who serve her. If you ever attended a Toby Keith concert, you all know you went to church and received the sermon on how to be a grateful and proud American. I can honestly say besides living through 9/11 and experiencing the unity on 9/12 we all had, the closest I’ve ever felt to that feeling again in my life was at a TK concert. You walked out of there knowing a few things about TK. 1) His faith and family were the most important things to him. 2) He was a fan’s artist. There wasn’t a fake bone in his body. He was as authentic as they came and he lived his life the same way. 3) He truly enjoyed what he did for a living and was always up for a good time, especially if it involved charity and OU. He didn’t waste a minute of life and used every moment to leave us a legacy in his musical catalog. 4) He had a servant’s heart and was always doing for others. 5) He bled red, white and blue down to his core. It’s been two weeks tomorrow since Toby left this world, and my heart is still having a very hard time accepting that all we had of Toby is now all we will ever have. But what a legacy he left us, and what lessons his life taught us. Thank you for doing this video. It honored him so well and so beautifully. And thank you to all of our Veteran’s on this page. There are truly no words to aptly thank you for your service. 🫡

As an old fourth generation vet, ( my 3 older brothers, my dad and 4 uncles, grandfather and great uncles and so on served ) . I love this song and Toby was such a hugh fan American servicemen. Salute my brother and sister veterans. Curt.of RW&B hit home seeing the 1st Inf. patch behind him and on the upper corner of his tank cert he held up. I enlisted a week after turning 17 and did 4 years with the 1st Inf before I was old enough to drink.

I served in the Marine Corps and was wounded while overseas. For about a 2-3 day period, it was questionable whether I would make it. This was during a holiday. I can't remember if it was Thanksgiving or the 4th of July, but I remember it was a time when I knew my family was back home having one of those great family get-togethers enjoying great food and just enjoying being together. I wondered if they had any idea where I was and what I was going through. I have never in my life felt so alone. Years later I would see Toby performing to our troops overseas and visiting the wounded in military hospitals and thought, "THIS GUY UNDERSTANDS." I imagine it was his parents that instilled this in him. I can't think of another celebrity in recent times that has shown more love and respect to those Americans sacrificing for our country overseas. My birthday is February 6th and I'll never forget this past one. Waking up to hear he was gone tore me apart. Not ashamed to admit I cried several times that day listening to his music and watching the tributes. He was one of a kind and a true blessing to both vets and their families. GOD BLESS YOU TOBY KEITH! I look forward to meeting you in heaven!!! Thank you for the wonderful tribute (tears shed again)!

My youngest son recently became a soldier/medic in the US Army. My heart is full with pride and love for my boy! I am deeply concerned about who will be his Commander in Chief as our beautiful country is now facing seriously unstable foreign relationships due to the present administration’s policies. I thank you for your hopeful messages of Faith and Patriotism! I feel the weight of heavy worry for my son and the other soldiers in our armed forces. I’m praying to God that he watches over all of us Americans. I’m a first time watcher to your channel. I’m so grateful I found this amazing video. I had just texted my soldier links to the 2 amazing Toby Keith patriotic songs and told him that I’m proud of him. I’ve always loved Toby Keith’s songs, but now that I’m an Army Mom I’m even more touched by Toby’s patriotism and deep support of our troops. Toby was a great man. I pray he rests in peace.

Toby's last days reminded me of my dad who died from cancer. We cared for him at home until the end. It's heartbreaking and lifechanging. My heart goes out to his loved ones. We take our time to much for granted, that is what most of us seem to do. Cherish what you love although It will be gone

My family literally can’t forget 9-11; nor can I forget on a personal level. I still remember sitting in my high school chemistry class when we first heard about it. At the end of school that day, my second oldest brother picked me from school instead of one of my parents. The reason being is right after the first tower collapsed, we got a call from my third oldest brother to let us know that my nephew had been born. So no matter how many years pass, we have a constant reminder of the good and the bad of that day. Anyone who is interested, my oldest brother actually submitted our story from his point of view on that day to Time Magazine. I believe it was actually published not long after that because, I think my mom actually kept a copy of it to give to my nephew when he was older.

I was in the Southwest Medical Center, OKC (4-19-1995) visiting my father, (also a resident of Moore Oklahoma) when the Murrah Federal Building Bombing 😮rocked the Hospital. I looked out the window and saw the blackish mushroom cloud of destruction and great loss of lives. My father died two days later.

So many young people today did not live through that and have no idea how devastating that was on the minds of Americans. We all remember exactly when we realized what was happening. I attended my 2nd Toby Keith concert here in Charlotte in 2015, which was my 2nd Toby concert the other being somewhere around 2005. At the 2015 concert Toby notices an old man sitting in a wheelchair and sends someone from his staff to offer the old man an opportunity to move up on stage and watch the concert from just out of sight on Toby’s left. As the concert comes to an end Toby brings the man out on main stage and introduces him. Turns out the man is around 95 years old and is a WWII veteran. Toby closes the show by singing American Soldier and Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. While Toby is singing the veteran begins making some motions indicating that he wants someone to help him stand. After he is barely able to stand the reason he wants to stand becomes clear. It was so he could salute the American Flag! After indeed saluting, the veteran then sits back down and Toby kneels down and lets him help sing Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. Not a dry eye in the arena.
Between Courtesy of the Red White and Blue and Alan Jackson Where Were You, it shows how a lot of people dealt with the tragedy, first was the grief and shock, then the focus and fight in the heart of Americans.

I have never meet him but after seeing your podcast, I feel like he is a very special friend that I have known for years. I did learn that our birthdays are in the month of July. My day is the 6th and Toby's is the 8th. I think of July as the patriotic month! Through his love for this country and music, Toby reinforces that for me! My family literally can’t forget 9-11; nor can I forget on a personal level. I still remember sitting in my high school chemistry class when we first heard about it. At the end of school that day, my second oldest brother picked me from school instead of one of my parents. The reason being is right after the first tower collapsed, we got a call from my third oldest brother to let us know that my nephew had been born. So no matter how many years pass, we have a constant reminder of the good and the bad of that day. Anyone who is interested, my oldest brother actually submitted our story from his point of view on that day to Time Magazine. I believe it was actually published not long after that because, I think my mom actually kept a copy of it to give to my nephew when he was older.

Mrs Covel and family! I was in the Southwest Medical Center, OKC (4-19-1995) visiting my father, (also a resident of Moore Oklahoma) when the Murrah Federal Building Bombing 😮rocked the Hospital. I looked out the window and saw the blackish mushroom cloud of destruction and great loss of lives. My father died two days later.

I was an extra in the remake of King Kong at the base of the towers. I watched your whole video through TEARS IN MY EYES . I now live in Montana for the last 34 years . Thank you for such a respectful and insightful look at an artist. Your addition of context with the 9-11 tragedy was actually welcome. So many young people today did not live through that and have no idea how devastating that was on the minds of Americans. We all remember exactly when we realized what was happening. It still makes me tear up to this day and the music of Toby Keith helped us heal a little bit.

I attended my 2nd Toby Keith concert here in Charlotte in 2015, which was my 2nd Toby concert the other being somewhere around 2005.
At the 2015 concert Toby notices an old man sitting in a wheelchair and sends someone from his staff to offer the old man an opportunity to move up on stage and watch the concert from just out of sight on Toby’s left. As the concert comes to an end Toby brings the man out on main stage and introduces him. Turns out the man is around 95 years old and is a WWII veteran.
Toby closes the show by singing American Soldier and Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. While Toby is singing the veteran begins making some motions indicating that he wants someone to help him stand. After he is barely able to stand the reason he wants to stand becomes clear. It was so he could salute the American Flag! After indeed saluting, the veteran then sits back down and Toby kneels down and lets him help sing Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. Not a dry eye in the arena.
