As much as Ion has power for. I've seen people use an amped Vortex Shield kit and have a friendly Legion FULLY unload into it and the Ion player direct and KILL an enemy full-heath Titan.
I highly recommend doing the full campaign (even if on easy) as the first thing. One of the best places to get used to the movements and the feel of the game. Also, It will allow you to see and use many of the different guns and grenades and things, lets you use cloak (getting used to using pilot special ability), and BT-7274 is an all-ability Titan and will allow you to better understand the different Titans you see in multiplayer and all their abilities.
