I still remember impulse buying Gunfire Reborn really early in it's EA cycle off of your recommendation and I stuck with that to 1.0 and beyond. You've got my trust in this genre when it comes to recommending games lmao.
@@zoulcar9403 dog how many years do they need my guy they have been working on it for like 3 years already announced it a year ago with a demo that looks exactly the same as this literally nothing new and it’s in early access now?
In my experience with the game so far, the balance of the curios is generally really good. All of them have their own uses depending on the weapon you're using and your preferred playstyle, making them more or less desirable depending on those factors. Rather than individual curios being OP, I find that they tend to prioritize effective synergy with other curios. There's also an evolution system kind of like Vampire Survivors, where if you have the right pair of curios and max them out, you can get an evolved curio with enhanced effects when opening a chest (I think, I only got one evolution so far and it was really chaotic, so it's hard to remember the exact circumstances). Evolved curios are DEFINITELY way better than anything else, so it is totally worth figuring out evolution pairs and going for them when you have the chance, assuming their activation conditions fit the build. The one I got was called Melted Light, and it basically fires giant AOE thunderbolts at things when you do a fast reload. It's magnificent and does insane damage on top of that. If your curio slots are full (the game doesn't display the maximum number of curios you can have, but it's either 8 or 10), chests will give you money and stat upgrades, which count as their own kind of special curios. That's another method you can utilize to get OP. While I would like to see more unique effects and stuff like proc chains, the game in its base state is really fun and quite well-balanced. My biggest criticism is that there needs to be a lot more tutorial information, as some things will be extremely unclear to people who are not avid gamers, and other information is just not there even for people who are.
Have you heard about Voidigo ? It's a really good and well polished rogue lite, similae to enter the gungeon. It has amazing design all accross the board, it's fast and fun overall !
Seems neat. I'll keep it in mind. I found you cuz I play RoR2 and you got me addicted to Gunfire Reborn after your first video on that so I have a decent trust level with your game suggestions.
Can't put my finger on what it is exactly, but the general vibe of the game seems very... juvenile. Like, there are plenty of games with a simplistic art style that manage to appeal to an adult audience, but this one seems like it's targeted at kids specifically. Not particularly a fan of that, personally.
It's something with the music or something, the vibe I got is that the game is afraid of being unbalanced, like idk if that's even valid criticism or not but, it doesn't seem "confident"
I get what you mean. It just doesn't feel like it has a cohesive theme. It's just kids in street wear shooting enemies that barely have distinct silhouettes. It's like it's trying to go for a Sunset Overdrive feel, but instead ends up more like a McDonalds game from the 90s.
Like Vampire Survivors right? Then the significant crazy jumps in player power would likely come from the item evolution system, which you probably don’t have access to right from the start just like its inspiration.
My game cant go past 60 fps without freaking out and plummeting to 15 fps and teleporting me around/ slowing the game down to a snails pace then speeding it back up. Anyone else having this issue??
There are evolutions on the game already just like Vampire, where you get 2 specific itens to max level and then open a chest (I didn't know about that until I actually got one), so you can get overpowered if you get the right stuff
I have super high hopes for this game! I hope they change objectives to focus less on staying in one place, but otherwise this game oozes charm and potential, and I want it to succeed!
Looks like the control point itself is spawning the explosives, which I guess is a differentiation from RoR2's teleport boss. Kind of annoying due to the high enemy counts and there being no way to stop it besides running the timer.
@@The_Geni the game or the discord? If the game, that's what I said it's not that different but it's also different in that the gameplay is so much smoother now
Game seems a bit too repetitive. It probably feels that way since it looks like the only real way to kill enemies is to shoot them. Abilities are cool but don't seem to do much apart from just dashing, although that might just be this character specifically.
Yeah i don't like it. Big thing for ror2 was atmosphere, the music, the theme. Ror2 is immersive. This... Is not. And for all the good roguelikes - they also are immersive. Having a distinct theme and playing it out right way matters a lot. It's what captures a player in a first place, only then you stay for good mechanics.
yeah perma progression for a game like this probably shouldnt be flat upgrades. the run should be designed around the stuff you get in the run, if my maxed out character makes the game easier then its actually punishing me for buying upgrades cause now the game is boring
You want to feel like a god while being so easily smiteable when your ego gets the best of you. Ror2 doesn't give you too many ways to sustain damage and avoid a one shot at the same time. And where it does let you, it has a harder game mode that reduces the effectiveness and max HP after damage taken. Sadly those two qualities aren't in many games if they let you heal in general.
The UI in this game still looks so bad and I can’t tell what’s really changed since the beta or whatever it was when this game was out a few year’s ago EDIT:watching the video I see literally nothing new and they’ve had a few months really disappointing they didn’t fix any of the animations or items kinda lame
Art style looks... weird. I dunno how to put this, but it just seems like one of _those_ games. Y'know, the out-sourced game that may or may not be using stolen assets from other companies. It also looks a lot like Palworld, which uhhh... hm. I'll keep my eye on it but I'm not expecting much.

Voidigo is the goat. Love that game.
Looks fine but the walking animation sticks out like a sore thumb. It's just not syncing well with the walk speed and camera speed.
Honestly my favorite RoR2-like game to this day is still Gunfire Reborn. The Dev has been cooking so hard, the game never gets stale.

I remember trying the demo a while ago and thinking the game was terrible.

Already got a very fun Roboquest-ish style.
i think game breaks and being stupidly op in long runs or certain combos gives so much re playability eg, tboi and ror(2).
