Yeah, I often try them on one paper, which I never end up using, and it frustrates me when I then go to use them on other paper and get 'inconsistent' results. Sigh. 🤣
That sticky feeling is exactly what I felt when I bought them. Definitely have to let them dry, hopefully, before closing the palette. Roman definitely has some lovely colors 🎉
i ordered a few colors from them and im so excited to try honey based watercolor paints, since i live in dry climate and i heard they are always easy to reactivate😍
@@eviedivadoodles oh that sounds excellent! my daniel smith and other gum arabic paints always become dry like stones in the winter months xD subscribed and looking foward to your video tomorrow :)
Aaahhh, gorgeous colors. If you fall in love with these, could you do me a favor and tell me they’re terrible? I do NOT need any more watercolors. 😉🤣 I have several tubes of Renesans watercolor that are honey based, and I really enjoy them. When I first got them, I was confused by how shiny/sticky they were in the pan after they dried. I had no idea that was a thing. BTW, “quite striking” is exactly how I would have described the pieces you did following Julia’s method!
I have to say I love my Roman Szmal paints. The ones I have are beautiful watercolours. They have honey in but the are "set" in the pans so I've found they stay put during travel and general use! Best avoid Sennelier tubes if you don't like stickiness though! 😆 A couple of those I own have never set fully in pans. 🤣 Phthalo green (YS) I'm looking at you... 😝
Hey Tara! Funny you mention Senneliers... I have a few tubes, 10 I think, and I rarely get them out. I think I did manage to successfully 'set' some in my desk palette which is - surprise surprise 🤫 - not on my desk and stashed away somewhere... you have made me curious, I will find it out when back to check! 😝
I love my aquarius palette as the colours are beautiful and I leave palette open for a long while to dry. Not sure how they will go in summer as my craft room is very hot Can't wait to buy more colours
Do they have like guache consistency? Because that's what it looks to me in the video, never tried that brand...and will not buy, i have too many watercolours and i am not a great painter 😅 much more a drawing person and discovered that too late! Those colours are gorgeous tho 😍😍😍 hope you use them a lot and show us all how it went! Have a great weekend Evie 🧡
Hey Teresa! Not when 'dry' - they're just.... sticky. 🤣 I think your life will not be improved by buying them - especially if you don't paint much. I have been enjoying using them this past week... and will be making some smaller abstract doodles later today once some hanging with my dad has been done! 😎 Hope you're enjoying your holidays? ❤️
I will never get tried of watching you swatch, Evie. I do wish you could hear me when I try to help you during the videos-I was trying to tell you that you skipped a blue😂 but you did eventually figure it out. Now the big question is are you going to leave the DS undersea green in the palette and use it?
Ha ha... I have to admit... I DID leave the DS in! I figured if it was there, it was for a reason (lack of greens that I love in the palette) so it stayed! 😎 *and*... I took some of my 'favourites' (used very loosely as I've barely used them prior to this challenge) and put them in a smaller palette for this trip away. Much more manageable for weight and not being overwhelmed! 🤣
I don’t like watercolours made with honey either. I bought a couple of Michael Harding colours to try and the colours are beautiful, but they also have honey in them, the stickiness annoys me too, ha, ha. I was looking at Roman Small but the fact they were made with honey, put me off.
Oh, I wonder if I knew that about the Michael Harding ones... perhaps why I've never been tempted to get any even when they go on sale? That and they are SO expensive when I have seen them here in the EU!
@@eviedivadoodles They are actually similarly priced in the UK to W&N, but every time I open a tube the paint shoots out and makes such a sticky mess. I only bought three, that was enough for me ha, ha. Even putting it in pans made such a mess, but maybe that is just me. It is a shame as the colours I bought were lovely when painted.
Great 👍 idea to try our watercolors on at least 3 different types of paper. It really is amazing 🤩

Oh that's a great tip Diana, thank you! I did not let them fully dry before traveling yesterday so hoping when I unpack them later they're 'ok'... 🤞

@@ultramarine_finest oh, you’ll love them then, they are SO easy to rewet! I’ll be posting a full update on how I got on with them tomorrow. 😍

Oh, my DS and others are stones yet round! Apart from Rose madder Genuine from Winsor & Newton. That's always sticky too. 🤣

@eviedivadoodles Some set fine... just some never set. I only have 6 tubes though...
Hmmm... perhaps I should send mine to you, being that I don't use them! 🤔

Thanks Jackie! Enjoying them so far! 😎
I really love these paints. I live in a really dry climate and they stay sticky. I don’t mind them but I don’t take them with me.
I think they're just *always* sticky? I took them with me and the stickiness increased exponentially, but I'm currently *ok* with that...
