Steven you mentioned malnourishment as a part of alcoholism. Maybe you could do a video on that. I know for me and my brother who were both hard drinkers, we would avoid eating any food to get the maximum effect from the alcohol.
Everything you said is spot on. Love the clock analogy, when I was drinking before I knew it would be late at night, now I go up at 6 and takes so long to get to that point 🤣 I was drinking 24/7 as I'm an artist at home. Throughout the night plus first thing when I came down. I'm on seizure meds since a huge bender on vodka so thankfully think that helped me give up straight away without tapering. Only been just over 6 weeks but the change in my mind, body, everything is totally different. This morning I had steak for breakfast followed by a protein shake, then I fast from about 2pm to help my liver. You said in this video, how alcohol can basically, be a holiday from reality and just as everyone on a holiday, dreads returning to work and the reality of everyday responsibility, as well as the continuous misery, frustration and disappointments with modern day life, then drinking more alcohol extends that enjoyable holiday up to the latest hour of returning to the challenges of reality. Steven, you were an experienced police officer in charge of others. That is a huge responsibility, as it entails dealing on a regular, if not everyday basis, with violence, murder, car crashes, fear, threat, disorder, the list goes on. If you didn't drink you would go insane. You are obviously a man of high standards in honesty and particularly in self reproach. In my eyes, you are now doing great work by your honesty. Keep going, although i know a drink is available anywhere at any time. I take my hat off to you son
Hi Steve, Stage 1-4 happens quicker than you think!!, it chips away at you & drains the life out of you. It's then got you by the short & curlies. Steven, I found your channel quite by accident, but I'm happy I have. Your words must help many on the slippery slope to stand their ground and not succumb to this dreadful disease. I feel I want to do more to help you to try and ease your burden. Is there anything I can do for you? Best wished, Roy.
I often wish I could've found the determination to stop sooner. I know that I won't ever drink again, and I've been lucky in many ways, but it feels like a pyrrhic victory. I won't drink again because the health and other consequences would be so great that it'd be equivalent to stepping in front of a train. So my resolve is not really a testament to my will-power; will power would've been giving up before reaching this precipice. I've learnt that the sooner you give up alcohol completely, the more profound the victory will be, and the more you'll gain from it.
As you state in this video you need to ween yourself off alcoholic gradually. I stopped overnight and have had constipation since I gave up drinking since April this year. Any suggestions Steven?
Go to boots buy a bottle of “LACTULOSE” that’s what you need ..good to clear toxins also any problems get back in touch .. I used it for a year or so 👍
Steven firstly thanks for a truly inspirational channel, then i was younger, mid 20's early 30's i did work in a pub here in ireland and played music in a band, 2 high risk jobs in regards to alcohol, i did get my fair share no doubt about that, and i guess at times too much, but never so it was a problem, did stop working in the pub after a few years, still played in the band :-) however in them two jobs, i have seen countless people that has wasted away, just like your story, so many is a pure copy its scary, so alcohol is defo a very dangerous substance. (sorry got rambling here) and to be honest i take coffee today before anything else, i do have a question to you and everyone else for that matter, and i also need a little advice. Question: have you ever liked the taste of alcohol or was it more the effect it had ? and if you like the taste then did you like it and turned more into a dependent substance ? Advice: if a family member is dependent on alcohol, and has ones tried to get help, but failed to get the right help at the doc, how do you get that person back on that track to look for help, this person, is the kind of person that is NOT good at taken advice from anyone, as nobody should interfere in their business, If any has any suggestion i sure would like to hear :-) ones again thanks steven for a very emotional and brilliant channel, i wish you and everyone else the very best life, Thanks
I'm in a really bad mess uncontrollable shaking haven't eaten in 9 days only got 2 beers left and scared to go out as I think people know I'm in a mess
Oh no, you poor thing, I am certainly no expert but my husband was alcohol dependent and had exactly the same thing in the mornings, what I did was give him enough alcohol to stop the shaking so he could function and then gradually lowered him down every day. You sound like you need to wean of gradually, this was the advice of the GP. You definitly need to eat something, maybe you should have a little bit of what you have left, enough to get you out, don't be scared to go out no one you know you are in a mess, only you feel that. You will feel better once you have what you need and are back indoors. Come back and check in with us later. Be strong you will get better, lots of lovely people on here all helping one another and Steven is fantastic.

I agree with Clarissa, I would say all of us look forward to Steve's videos everyday. Our dodgy time is between 4pm and 7pm, so the routine now is cup o tea/coffee, chat about each others day, have dinner, wash up then jump on here for reassurance and the stories and help others if l think l could be of use.
The part about time moving faster is so true my 25 years of drinking involved drugs also so for me one moment it was Friday lunch time next it’s Sunday night and I’m thinking shit I’ve got work in the morning lol!

I could see my life slowly getting worse the sick days, the morning drinks & the arguments. The sweats in bed coming off the booze after hammering my body for weeks. Luckily, my GP prescribed me librium, but sure, he was getting fed up with seeing me!. Great video & hope you're well 👍

As an X addict im bothered about my alcohol intake. I try to makesure i have at least 4 days 'clean' & try not to go ott when out social drinking. Im aware that i never want to be an addict again (inc alcohol) do you think im spacing drinking/clean times ok? It can get dull just sitting in on my clean days...but i never want to be an addict, to anything, again. Thanks if you can reply to this & well done for creating a channel focusing on this issue. Alcohols so easy & cheap to buy nowadays that addiction to it must be easy & à nightmare too.
Be strong & much love 💞

I never really found a reason to have a day off it unless I was so sick I couldn't face it.

Steve . Feel like the prisoner .no 6 . Escapen the village
It’s awful being a prisoner to booze
I often wish I could've found the determination to stop sooner. I know that I won't ever drink again, and I've been lucky in many ways, but it feels like a pyrrhic victory. I won't drink again because the health and other consequences would be so great that it'd be equivalent to stepping in front of a train.
So my resolve is not really a testament to my will-power; will power would've been giving up before reaching this precipice.
I've learnt that the sooner you give up alcohol completely, the more profound the victory will be, and the more you'll gain from it.
A brilliant message..keep strong ALL OF US 👍

As you state in this video you need to ween yourself off alcoholic gradually. I stopped overnight and have had constipation since I gave up drinking since April this year. Any suggestions Steven?

It's been several months. My advice to you is go see a doctor. I hope it's not anything serious, but it might be. Best of luck.
(sorry got rambling here) and to be honest i take coffee today before anything else,
i do have a question to you and everyone else for that matter, and i also need a little advice.
Question: have you ever liked the taste of alcohol or was it more the effect it had ? and if you like the taste then did you like it and turned more into a dependent substance ?
Advice: if a family member is dependent on alcohol, and has ones tried to get help, but failed to get the right help at the doc, how do you get that person back on that track to look for help, this person, is the kind of person that is NOT good at taken advice from anyone, as nobody should interfere in their business, If any has any suggestion i sure would like to hear :-)
ones again thanks steven for a very emotional and brilliant channel, i wish you and everyone else the very best life,
Thanks

Listen to jackie because that is fantastic advice .
Hi Mike you must call an ambulance if you are that bad ..don’t just stop drinking you may have a seizure I did and so do many others.
Thanks Jackie … great advice I have told him to call an ambulance if things are really problematic. Definitely not to stop suddenly as I did years ago & I had seizures..so dangerous
Excellent advice from Jackie ❤️

We know the cons far outweigh the pros, by a country mile. There was just something undeniably alluring about the cons.
That early part of the binge was just so seductive, until it wasn't.

Steve, mate, have you ever thought that your posting videos up to TH-cam may be becoming an addiction itself? As far as I can see, you are posting numerous times on a daily basis. Your audience will not desert if you post less frequently, as we all know how sincere you are. Try and limit yourself to 1 upload per day, make them slightly longer, and see how it goes. Good luck, Roger
All good thank you..🙏
Think we all need Steve to upload as much as he can. He's helping so many of us. We all look up to him. His words advice are a constant reminder of why not to go bk to alchol. I just hope he continues as he's an inspiration right now.
