Hey, , I saw the nails in the tool kit, but didn't see any screws to go with that really cool screwdriver. Did I just miss them? This is a great box. I'm working on a tool theme box also for a 10-14 boy. Your box gave me some good ideas. Those Sunglasses case and cord holder were a great bargain .
Haha, Tracy, I knew someone would notice that, lol. I could not fit a screw assortment. I had to choose, nails or screws. I went with the nails, but, yes, you should definitely include screws if you can fit them into your box of treasures. You wouldn’t believe how heavy this box is already. The $10 shipping donation on this one will be a bargain 😂
My 8-year old and granddaughter and I started watching your videos and a few other lovely ladies too about a week ago. We are definitely going to pack a few boxes this year. I am starting with this category. To me it seems the trickiest, so it will only get easier from there. My granddaughter already picked out a Barbie and an outfit and a soft zip case for Barbie dolls to put the stuff in. Like a big pencil pouch designed for fashion dolls that will easily fit into a shoebox. She Also picked out a ruler and journal. Obviously it's easy for her to pick things she would like. I'm very proud she is so happily shopping for others and doesn't ask for anything for herself. I feel she's on a good path in life. Thanks to all of you who participate in this awesome project. Your kindness is contagious ☺ 💕 PS: I like the dice idea for this category. They can play alone or with some buddies.
Thank you Laura Ann and welcome. So glad you found us and joined our little community of OCC obsessors 😂. I’m always so happy to hear when kids get involved. It’s a wonderful learning experience for them. It sounds like your granddaughter is definitely on the right path. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Good luck with your 10-14 boys shoebox 🥰
Great job! I pack for the older kids as well -- what I did was to circle the 14 on the label and add a large sticker that says "career box" or "older teen." I figure the adult passing them out will know who it should go to.
I'm watching this one for the second time. I really can't believe how much you got in this box. It covers the spectrum well from 10 to 14. I love it. Great job!!!
Trish, you highlighted the challenge I feel with the 10 to 14 year old boys. To me, a just turned 10 year old's interests are very different than those of a soon to be 15 year old. Finding a way to transcend that range can be difficult, but I believe you have done a great job of doing so. You included enough tools to be useful to this young man but also made sure he has cool sunglasses, a bouncy ball, Hot Wheels cars, marbles, dominoes, a harmonica, a cute stuffy and more. I also like how you added the touches of red to add pops of color to the blues and grays. Another outstanding box! 🧰
Thanks, Martha. You hit the nail on the head regarding the big difference between a 10-year-old and a 14-year-old boy. I second-guessed myself on every one that I pack, probably more than is necessary, 😂.
BTW I love watching your videos! I love seeing someone who puts the same amount of thought and creative ideas into each box. Last year I packed 72 boxes and got some donations on items but the most helpful donations I've been receiving that last several years is getting people to sponsor the shipping costs for all those boxes. The yr before last I pushed 10 toolboxes and last year 5. It's such a rewarding feeling to pack them... to create special gifts inside each one. I've made: first aid kits. Sewing kits. Hair accessory boxes. Keep up the Good work on those Blessing Boxes. As I call them.
Thank you so much, CJ. It’s so nice of you to take the time to make such nice and supportive comments. I’m with you on the shipping cost donations. In the past I’ve done a garage sale each year and sold clothing through consignment, but I’ve run out of things to sell, LOL, so it’s not coming close to covering shipping cost. I just haven’t mustered the gumption, yet, to ask others for shipping costs. I’ve got to work on that. Thanks for the encouragement 🥰
Thank you so much. I am new at this. I started doing occ boxes last year & did 2. I got internet 1 month ago. So I will see if I can get the directions.
Great shoebox!!! You are a really thoughtful person!!! I use the "tool" pouches for everything from a tool kit to a first aid kit to a fishing kit to a game/activity kit. These pouches are so universal. I started to add a solar/hand crank flashlight, so I didn't need to worry about batteries.
Thank you so much. I agree about the tool pouches. They are so versatile, because they’re quite sturdy. I do wish they were a bit cheaper though. Even buying them in a 5-pack on Amazon I haven’t been able to find them for much cheaper than $4 each. The one in this video I got at Walmart, but I can’t find them there anymore. Where do you get yours?
You did a great job of balancing out the fun for a potential younger boy in this age group. But honestly, I remember even my young nephew at age 3, wanting to mimic everything his dad was doing, and he loved working with tools. I think you will make whatever boy receives this box quite happy! TFS
Fantastic tool time box Trish! This young boy will delight in all the treasures you packed! Thanks for the shout out! We must have been thinking of the same things when we packed these boxes! We did pick a lot of the same items! Great minds. Lol. Love his tool bag. I get something similar on Amazon. They pack very nicely! Nice and flat. You’ve given him a wow harmonica and the wow tools! So awesome! You “nailed” it all! 😀 Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Denise. I wasn’t kidding when I told you I had packed a lot of the same “extras” as you did in the 10-14 you shared yesterday. I was watching you unbox it and thinking, gee, maybe I should wait a while before I film my video 😂. Yep, great minds… Thanks again for the knot tying idea and thanks watching, my friend.
Wow, this is a very wow shoebox! Every item is great quality and I would consider a wow item. Like the outfit, sunglasses, Beanie baby, and harmonica. My favorite is the backpack. Even the smaller toys are lots of fun and wow like the dice and marbles. And the tool kit is fantastic! Quality tools and variety. And the tool socks are super fun. I really like the coloring book and all the stickers you added. Great shoebox for an older boy. Thanks for sharing, Trish! 🛠🔧🔩
Thank you so much, Sharon. That means a lot coming from you. You pack such great boxes. I’m looking forward to seeing what you’re putting together this year. TFW 🥰
Finally, catching up with my videos! What better way than to start with a “tool box”……after having so many repair people here at the house these last few weeks 😄😄😄😄😄. I too find 10-14 boy boxes challenging. LOVE, LOVE his complete outfit, paracord bracelets, tool socks, backpack and cool sunglasses. The harmonica, marbles, dice, bouncy ball, stickers, Hot Wheels, coloring book and packable checker game adds fun and excitement for any boy 10-14 to enjoy! Thanks for sharing this fun-filled box! ⚒️ 🧰 🚘
❤God will put it into the hands of the child that needs it the most. He is a perfect organizer and planner. Nothing goes to waste and everything works out perfectly with our Jesus. Don’t stress!
Thanks, Jenn. FYI, per recently updated OCC recommendations, I am removing the tool cases from the boxes, then replacing the tools back into the box loose. Evidently, tool kits in cases or tool bags can contribute to customs issues, as they view them as aid and not toys or gifts. If we wish to include tools, OCC now suggests including one or two tools loose in the box. Just thought I’d mention in case you have not heard this.
I really like those bracelets, thank you for sharing the link. I love adding those cool fidget spinners I have to order more I'm almost all out. Those tool themes socks are fantastic. Very nice tool set with bag. Brilliant idea putting the colored dots next to the numbers, I'm totally going to do that. Fun stickers! That hot wheel car with the wrench is perfect, you find the coolest cars. The prayers card and cross are such a special gift. Thank you for sharing
Thank you, Bonnie. I love those bracelets. I think the solid blue one was sold out, but there were other colors available on that link. The fidget spinners are great for the boys boxes. I can’t believe I didn’t include them before this year. Cool cars! That’s because I pay top dollar (1.25) for them 🤣. Thanks for watching, Bonnie 🥰
Wow nice box, after watching this video I realized this was packed and sent a year ago. Lol ,😅well I'm glad I finally got to see this great unboxing. I'm sure the boy loved receiving this box.
Oh yes! This was a a good one. This year OCC does not recommend packing as many tools as I sent that year, but I think I still got a plenty of fun packed into that box 😀
Thank you, Elena. I’m not real familiar with that many dice games, so I had to do some research as to a good number to include as a set. 10 seemed to be it. 👍
After watching all I can say is WOW!! Everything is a WOW! Love the harmonica, tools and nice clothing choices. This young man is not only set for a little while but potentially years to come! I love all the details, the nice manicure set, the tools socks, so cute!! The prayer card and cross are so special 🙏 Funny story: we call our boys "the bulls" and their room is the bullroom! They both have the same red bull! Thanks for sharing 💖
Oh, thank you so much, my friend. I stressed over this one, but, I am very pleased with the way it turned out. I pray it goes to an older boy, but my prayers may be unfounded. I know God will place it in the right hands. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I know you are a very busy lady. 😘
Hi Trish, It is great to see a tool box for Mr. 10-14. I packed three tool boxes last year, and have only recently got the 'call' to pack another. I saw a large canvas pencil pouch the other day, and thought, like it. Not sure what to do with it. So I left it. Now seeing how you have packed this kit, I'm like Dang! I am now very much unlikely to get that $1 deal again. BTW, I love the red bull; A good choice for this box.
Hi Fiona. Thank you. Oh wow, seriously, $1 for a large canvas pencil pouch? Yes, that probably would have worked pretty well. That’s the price I was hoping to find, eventually, for this tool pouch, but no cigar ☹️. I hope you find something else that works just as well. As always, thanks for watching, Fiona 🥰
Hi Trish, definitely a fun box! I am not very handy but I have a screwdriver like that at home for small DIY projects. I love the colour scheme. The red items certainly add a pop of colour. ❤️💙
Hi Julie in the UK! Thank you so much. I am thrilled you’re watching our videos. Denise’s videos are fantastic. Love them. Thanks for watching and for your kind comment 🥰
This is very amazing :) don't worry about the clothing, the way i view it is "Pack toys for the youngest and clothes for the oldest", since you can easily wear a shirt that is too big, but you can't wear a shirt that is too small, as for the toys and games, I think aiming to the younger side is better, since for example packing a game that is recommanded for 8+ in a 5-9 might not be a good idea, since then it will be too hard to a 5 or 6 year old, while a 9 year old can defnellty play a 5+ game I find it funny that you mentioned basketball, since I won a free baskeball today for achivening my goals in my fitness app XD (yes, we get free stuff for using it!) I love this box, even if the boy isn't into tools, those are useful items and can be used around the house by the parents (we can never know what state is the house they live in) and you included many toys and games for a 10 year old like marbles and checkers (and don't forget that any rope can double as a skipping rope, you don't need a "special" one for that XD) this is an amazing box and this video came just in time for me (while recovering from a root canal)
Well, thank you! You make excellent points. I particularly like the suggestion that he might use the rope as a skipping rope. As obvious as it might be, that never occurred to me, 🤪. Congrats on winning a basketball! That’s pretty cool! And, congrats on achieving your fitness goals👍👍. Ouch! Sorry to hear about your root canal. That’s never any fun 🥴. I hope you recover quickly.
Nice box. There's been times I've circled the "14" on the label when I've sent older boy tool boxes. Not sure if it does any good but it couldn't hurt. I've used those tool pouches before too. I need to get out to my Harbor Freight.
Very nice and useful shoebox. I really like the bag you put it in, perfect size. Oh btw, I sent you the pictures of the cars I told you about that go with those turbo mini car stations. TFS!
Thanks, Jeannie. Yeah, that bag is perfect. I just wish they would put it on clearance from time to time, LOL. I like my stuff cheap 😂. I just saw your email. Thanks for sending the pics. They will be very helpful. TFW 🥰
My grandson just turned 14 in June…wears an xl men’s shirt/shorts… not overweight, just a big boy… that’s always what concerns me getting clothes for them
Yes, that’s true. It’s a gamble, but if I find great deals on clothing I like to include, especially since clothing and under garments are on the OCC suggested items list. I often hear that the kids will sometimes trade things with one another at these “parties”. Otherwise they may give to a sibling. I figure one way or another all items will find the right home. I just make sure to pray about it. 🥰
I’ve heard that at the processing center they are ALWAYS low on 10-14 for both genders, but especially boys. I think I also heard (don’t quote me on this!) that when they’re running low ten year olds get 5-9 boxes. Basically what I’m saying is I think it’s wonderful that you’re packing for the older end ❤
Yes, that is true! OCC continually receives less 10-14 and 2-4 boxes in comparison to 5-9. I have worked the processing center 2 years in a row and my biggest takeaway last year was that I processed almost entirely 5-9 boxes for my entire 8 hr shif!!!. Seriously!!! Very few 2-4 or 10-14 boxes. According to OCC it’s the 2-4 boys, then girls boxes they actually get the least of, closely followed by 10-14 boys, then girls. However, I keep in mind that there are only 3 ages to cover in the 2-4 range, but 5 ages in the 10-14 range, so I look at them as about even or equally important. It’s the 5-9 age group that OCC continually receives the most of year after year after year. Going forward, my personal commitment is to pack only 2-4 and 10-14 shoeboxes. I may still pack a few 5-9 boxes, but only to use up what I’ve already purchased that may not be suitable for the 2-4 or 10-14 age ranges, particularly clothing, shoes, socks, underwear. After I’ve used up what is in my stash, I will no longer pack any 5-9 boxes 🥰
@@byrdfeed9071 That’s so kind of you! In the past I have packed mostly 5-9 just due to how easy it was to find items suitable for that age, but now that I know this I will definitely try to pack some older and younger boxes!!
@@carebear6921 yes, I agree, the 5-9 age group can be the easiest to pack for. I’m sure that’s why most people pack them. I used to do the same until I found out the greater need for the other two age ranges to balance out what OCC receives. But, please, I did not intend to discourage you. Any box is better than no box and if you prefer packing 5-9 boxes you definitely should pack how you feel led. If it doesn’t matter to you one way or the other, then this information may be helpful for you in the future 🥰
Love the card with various knots on it. Do you have a personal laminator? I’ve been interested in getting one to use for OCC but haven’t looked into them. Let me know if you like yours. This boy will love his tool shoebox!
Hi Grace. The fishing kits I make are a pretty good size. I don’t make little ones that some people make. I published a TH-cam video last year “Fishing Kit for OCC”. I will leave the link here. You can use it as a guide and make your fishing kit as big or as small as you wish. 1.5 mm. It’s a tight fit on the stained wood crosses from Amazon, but not too difficult to get through the hole and still slides easily. It’s a much easier fit on the painted wood crosses from Hobby Lobby.
I agree. Especially toys, but I think SHEIN has more in accessories for kids. I am torn as to which company I like better. I think maybe they complement each other. I like SHEIN for some things and TEMU for others. I compare prices, too. Sometimes SHEIN is cheaper, especially when I can use percentages off, plus earned reward points to lower the prices. However, TEMU is free shipping for everything all the time. I’m getting ready to do a TEMU haul for next week, so stay tuned 👍
Very nice, well rounded, and especially fun box, which I have no doubts will appeal to both a 10 year old and a 14 year old, and every age in between. 💙🤍❤️
Upon repacking, added 2 small mending (sewing) kits, contributed by viewer, Joan Cowan and a pack of 3 AAA Batteries.

Nice box. There's been times I've circled the "14" on the label when I've sent older boy tool boxes. Not sure if it does any good but it couldn't hurt. I've used those tool pouches before too. I need to get out to my Harbor Freight.
Thank you and thanks for the tip to circle the 14. I will do that. Like you said, it can’t hurt 🥰
That's a great idea.
TFW 🥰
I am doing the tool box. I would love to add a fishing kit.

@@byrdfeed9071 You didn’t discourage me at all!!! You inspired me to start packing more for the older and younger ends!!😄😊
Love the card with various knots on it. Do you have a personal laminator? I’ve been interested in getting one to use for OCC but haven’t looked into them. Let me know if you like yours. This boy will love his tool shoebox!
Thanks, Morgan. I love my laminator. It’s a Scotch Thermal Laminator TL901X purchased on Amazon.
@@byrdfeed9071 I grabbed one today @ Office Depot! Thanks, Trish.
Could you tell me how to make a fishing kit. To pack in my teen boy box?
Hi Grace. The fishing kits I make are a pretty good size. I don’t make little ones that some people make. I published a TH-cam video last year “Fishing Kit for OCC”. I will leave the link here. You can use it as a guide and make your fishing kit as big or as small as you wish. A FULL SIZED BASIC FISHING KIT FOR OCC 🎣 WHAT TO INCLUDE & WHAT SIZE TACKLE TO BUY

What mm cordage is that to fit through the holes on those crosses?
1.5 mm. It’s a tight fit on the stained wood crosses from Amazon, but not too difficult to get through the hole and still slides easily. It’s a much easier fit on the painted wood crosses from Hobby Lobby.
I think TEMU has more than Shein.
Thanks, Val. That’s what I was going for 👍👍
