Hi from Arkansas. I'm a 74 year old great grandma. I just love you and want to adopt you as one of my youngens! You are my kind of folks. Honest, hard working and comical at times! I sure enjoy getting to watch your videos. God bless you and your family!
Please everyone, push the subscribe button for this guy. It doesnt cost you anything, but will sure help him provide for his farm. His videos are pure gold. Just a hard working farmer showing us how his world evolves.
I always fed my barn cats and they kept mice and rabbits under control, never had a real issue. My guineas and chickens kept any mice and snakes under control that the cats missed. I enjoy these videos, you always have good ideas to fix things!!😊😊
My cats catch mice whether they are hungry or not. They are evolved to kill anything that moves! I don't think they really like to eat them. They just like to catch them, play with them, and kill them. Serial killers!
Burrowing rodents will collect things like chicken feathers for their nest. Especially if they're getting ready to multiply. This is a good time to take action. (You have to love the notion of truth in labelling: "Natural - No Stir Creamy Peanut Butter" that Tyler finds with all the oil sitting on top. 🤣 )
If you have a local animal shelter or SPCA they always have cats. You have to keep them in a cage or something to feed them and water . After a few days let them go and they will come back to the cage for food ( HOME) . If you get them and just dump them in the barn they spook and most run away.
Good update, the seasons are changing! The pig feeder is a work in progress. Taking the path of least resistance with the rubber lids, functional and if you find you don't like it well, you can change it! Good post FTR!
Tylerisms 5 minutes on the internet will educate me on that. Time to get ahead of them rather than playing catch-up in a couple of months. We'll start there and see where we end up. what squirrel could resist that? Thank you - (You say that often and it reflects well on you.)
Good morning this is Philip. on your hard line you want to install on your mod. On the fly sprayer . This is I learned working on aircraft. Tube with u shape placed into center of water line & a cap to attach your spray bottle will create siphoning effect also vent your bottle . have a blessed day . I enjoy you metal manufacturing jobs on the farm .
So glad your black cat is staying. Have you thought of going to animal shelter to get a few more cats? Enjoyed seeing your fruit trees. Have a great day
Hi I just want to let you know I’ve been watching your old videos and I think you’re amazing you can put turn your hand to anything I’ve just watched you make your round bale feeders
As far as the barn cats, ask a local farmer if they have a new crew of barn kittens that they would be willing to part with to add to your barn. Also when I was a kid growing up in farm land in Montana the farmers use to feed their cats milk. They said milk cats made the best mousers 😉 just a thought 💭 once again another great video Tyler! Also, it’s been a warm one here in Utah for being September 🥵 but the nights are definitely cooler thankfully 🙏🏻
Great job. I like seeing you catching the pests. I hope you get more cats around the ranch. Thanks for your hard work making videos. I have a small ut channel. So I know how much work it is.
Hi FT! Great vid as always! Anxious to see what you get in the traps. I’m always impressed how well the fly sprayer does! So happy you’re almost finished with the pig feeder! God’s blessings!❤❤❤❤
Metal lids on the pig feeder will create a severe noise nuisance, disturbing the sleep of every person in your home. This would impact everyone's health. The sound of clanging metal travels far. Thanks for another excellent video, Tyler. I know it adds greatly to your workload!
Hey FTR, I have to agree with you about cats. Despite living with/alongside humans they aren't really domesticated like dogs are, for example. Despite all the time spent with humans they have very strict dietary requirements that can only be obtained from fresh prey. Cats are obligate carnivores. Biologically they are still wild!
From Texas, enjoyed viewing another interesting video. Appreciate your sharing Farmer Tyler. Keep it safe, stay healthy, strong and successful. Blessings and prayers for you and your family in Jesus's Mighty Name. ☝🙏🙌💪👊
I used a 5 gallon bucket about half full of water and sprinkle a couple peanuts in there and a couple on a board from the ground to the top. it from the ground to the top of the bucket. the crazy chipmunk will crawl up the bored and fall in the bucket after the peanut. Then just throw it away.
This is one of the two ranch channels i love!! Tyler your so down to earth and such a hard and smart worker! You put alot of thought into the things you do and say. Keep up the wonderful work you do!
The ground squirrel cuisine (peanut & pig feed) should trap the critter allowing you to off him or her. I thought Callie was there for pest control. It seems the cows (especially the younger ones) enjoy the fly spray more now then in the past.
Labs aren’t known for their vermin hunting (although some individuals may be excellent). I’d be looking for a cattle dog ( prey drive vs LGD guard drive), or a terrier. Local shelters probably have some candidates. ☮️
I agree!! Cats follow the food. I started with two fixed females. Now ever night at 4 there are 8 waiting for supper. In return I have not seen a mouse, rat or mole any where by my house. I have 5 acres in Kansas
I agree with your thoughts on the cat!!! I have a garage cat we feed her and she still kills all the mice. I a a 5lb chihuahua dog and two mini dachshunds and they kill all the rodents and snakes in the yard. Occasionally they get a rabbit and squirrel. We have pecan trees. So when the pecans are ripe the raccoons all come in. I have 15 in my yard one nite. A little intimidating to say the least I felt out numbered!!! I trapped two, and the rest left. I released them at a local public fishing pond. My first time trapping. animals. I had a lot of possums, I trapped just a couple of those cause the dogs were killing them. We have a large variety of animals, we had a ground hog but he left. He didn't like my neighbors concert slabs lol! I am learning slot from you too!!! Thank you so much, all help is appreciated with what I learn from your videos!!! I enjoy watching them!!
Yeah I was thinking about rubber as a lid for the pig feeder. But I was also thinking of like a plastic polymer cover could be a little stiffer and more durable😊 the feeders looking really good❤
We use either mud flaps from big trucks, or conveyors belting from a local quary that’s used and taken off. They give it away most of the time for stuff like the pig feeder lids
Our cat passed (17 years old) 2 years later we were invaded by chipmunks I tried the 5 gallon bucket trap lol joke ordered 4 traps from Amazon count right now is 61 chipmunks lol they had tunneled around our retaining walls and we had to tear 2 down and rebuild them. pests ..... miss my cat she was a warrior
The liquid on the.peanut butter is the peanut oil. The "natural" and "organic" Butters seperate like that. They are fine after you mix them back together.
That mound sure looks like every california ground squirrel hole I have ever seen… most of the other suggestions were hunted to extinction during the late 1700’s early 1800’s fur rush. That’s why Sutter set up a fort in what is now the county.
Pest control! One of those never ending jobs. Looks like you’re getting a good jump on it though. Curious to see how the rubber flaps work. Hopefully well! Another great day on.FRR!
You think you have 1 squirrel. I would not be surprised if you had over 10. I saw a couple of squirrels in my yard and I caught 60 in the same trap without even moving the trap over a period of 6 months.
A drip edge around the feeder hopper would probably help a lot too. Should stop water from running down the sides of the feeder and then down to the lids
Ha....A while back I said I didn't know much about it (and that's still true) but I asked about plastic or rubber for the lids instead of metal. Maybe my idea was better than I thought. Always wishing the best for you Tyler. You work so hard. Good luck with the lids. I'd think just the lessor weight of rubber as opposed to metal would be a plus all by itself. Continued success to you and your future endeavors.
Hey Tyler, I have 2 suggestions. 1. On the pig Feeder use a truck mud flap for the lid. 2. Create a space that all the cows go through to get water and set up the fly sprayer there. You will have water available from the water trough. 2 birds one stone kind of thing.
I trap squirrels in a similar trap. This year we had squirrels digging up the potatoes! I've not had that issue before. I put a potato in the end of the trap for those guys. It worked great. And I have watched a squirrel eat a bluebird. Don't know if the squirrel found it already dead or not. It was a bit shocking.
I agree about leaving food out for cats, it helps the cats know where to stay for a food source, but cats are cats and if they see a mouse, well that mouse is history🤔 Hot weather in September, you are a native Californian like me, September- early October we have bad heat waves and Indian summers, and fires. Hopefully November starts the rains....but with climate change nothing is quite like it use to be🙃

Nice job with the pig feeder and your decision to go with rubber lids. Keep up the good work!
I always fed my barn cats and they kept mice and rabbits under control, never had a real issue.
My guineas and chickens kept any mice and snakes under control that the cats missed.

The sprayer company should sponsor you and send you another sprayer. Problem solved.
Ow wow…… an orange tree in your garden, lovely….. pomegranates to😳😳😳😳😳😳well, how wonderful 😃😃😃😃xx

Right!!
The best channel on TH-cam in my opinion.
From Kansas, that cow sprayer is cool the cows don't mind it at all!! They are probably so happy to say good bye flies. Happy Cows!!!
Born in Salina, Kansas, now living on the Central coast of California near Vandenberg Space Force Base. Loving the k.c. chiefs!

Hi Tyler, we have two barn cats and we feed them twice a day. They have kept the rodent population down so well.
Enjoyed this one too FT. Love to see the work on the pig feeder.

Rubber sounds like the way to go. What about those large mud flaps that truckers use by their tires?
Tylerisms

I thought there must be an easy way to “load” the tank with soap, etc. What a great suggestion! I see another project in Tyler’s future!! 👏🏼👏🏼

what happens to him afterwards "well" i love it . haha
By the way the peanut butter is natural style, that is why it separates
Good morning. The weather can't make up its mind.
Oh boy! I can't wait to see the pig pan working!
Good morning, Farmer Tyler. I always enjoy your videos. Looking forward to videos using the LS!
Agree, can’t take the hunter out of a cat.
i love yiur skill and ingenuity. Great idea on the rubber lids! Collaboration can be liberating.
Hi I just want to let you know I’ve been watching your old videos and I think you’re amazing you can put turn your hand to anything I’ve just watched you make your round bale feeders
I enjoy your show. Reminds me of when I was a kid growing up on a farm. It’s hard work but very rewarding. Thanks for sharing.
I love the panting of your dog
As far as the barn cats, ask a local farmer if they have a new crew of barn kittens that they would be willing to part with to add to your barn. Oh! Mud flaps for 18 wheelers are good and heavy. They would make a good door for the feeder.
Some of those calves out of Rivet are really looking great!
Share your fly sprayer idea with Pete...his set up on Just a few acres farm with the cows coming up for water would work really well
Wow I was surprised to see you can grow oranges. That's great!
The oil in the peanut butter floats to the top after the jar sits for awhile !!
Great job. I like seeing you catching the pests. I hope you get more cats around the ranch. Thanks for your hard work making videos. I have a small ut channel. So I know how much work it is.

Check out the Lakeland cattle rope oiler, you could easily make one for much less than they charge, be great for pastures

Tyler love watching you. You are what I would call down to earth. Fixing things with what you have. Have a good day and keep safe.
Sounds like an awesome idea for your pig feeder thank you for the video
It's not eating birds. It's taking the feathers for nesting
Gotta admit, when you were talking about the ground squirrel trap, I kept hearing mixing pb with “pig’s feet”, not pig FEED. 😂
From Texas, enjoyed viewing another interesting video. Appreciate your sharing Farmer Tyler. Keep it safe, stay healthy, strong and successful. Blessings and prayers for you and your family in Jesus's Mighty Name. ☝🙏🙌💪👊

This works really good. I was using sunflower seeds. Should work for mice and rats too with right bait.

My dog would live a go at that squirrel, but he doesn't have a very good track record.
Right, cats are killers!,❤😂
I agree!! Cats follow the food. I started with two fixed females. Now ever night at 4 there are 8 waiting for supper. In return I have not seen a mouse, rat or mole any where by my house. I have 5 acres in Kansas
Conveyer belting works great too.
Cleanest cows in the County 😝🤣🤣
Our cat gets vermin whether she’s Ben fed or not, so I agree with your assessment 👍
Ground squirrel bait? Hands down use peanut butter. They act like addicts.
Thx
i know ground squirrels and ground hogs are two different animals but i have caught 17 groundhogs here in VA in live traps with over ripe fruit!!!!
What squirrel could resist that! 😂😂😂
I agree with your thoughts on the cat!!! I have a garage cat we feed her and she still kills all the mice. Time for a new cat?
I like your cow sprayer for flies!! It looks like it would do a thorough job! It is more natural too!!
The Cattle sure don't mind the sprayer now ❤
If you constructed a 6x8’ canopy over pig feeder, pole barn mini, that would protect from rain-snow and provide some shade for pigs.
An 18 wheeler mud flap for the pig feeder. Call a truck stop or chrome shop
Pest control! One of those never ending jobs. Looks like you’re getting a good jump on it though. Curious to see how the rubber flaps work. Hopefully well! Another great day on.FRR!
What a great treat! 🎉
modern day MacGyver !!!
Yes I thought you should go with the rubber as well.
ANOTHER very good video. thanks
You think you have 1 squirrel. I would not be surprised if you had over 10.
I saw a couple of squirrels in my yard and I caught 60 in the same trap without even moving the trap over a period of 6 months.
Adopt some barn cats from your local shelter? I love you videos, thank you.
Good job guys and girls
👍😎
Do your neighbors ever give away farm cat kittens when they have some? That’s a common thing in our farming community
I have seen squirrels eat dead birds; I guess they will eat most anything. I always enjoy your videos, you cover everything I want to see on a ranch.
Cool thanks 😊
Suggestion-big Truck flapps to cover the hog feeder
Our prairie ground squirrels in WY are omnivorous, and as we later learned, carnivorous. On numerous occasions they have eaten their own! 😮
No animal can afford to pass up free protein. Deer will eat baby rabbits. Nature is rarely an always/never existence.
On the new pig feeder you m ight be able to minimize water damage by putting some holes in the bottom of the food tray. My two cents.
I agree about leaving food out for cats, it helps the cats know where to stay for a food source, but cats are cats and if they see a mouse, well that mouse is history🤔
Hot weather in September, you are a native Californian like me, September- early October we have bad heat waves and Indian summers, and fires. Hopefully November starts the rains....but with climate change nothing is quite like it use to be🙃
Maybe also put a drip edge where the hopper cone meets the wall.... that way less water is running down the side of the cone and close to the lids.
