I liked it better before the wall too. Life is a journey so keep on trucking. Your homestead has all come together well. You’ve done a lot of work to get where you are. Congrats.
Good idea bud. Going above and beyond is something I can appreciate. You can never be to careful and it’s better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
Bravo for taking down the wall between the kitchen and the living room. Like you, I never liked it. So much better to have one large room. Love following along as you establish your homestead.
Ooh I liked the look of the open plan you had before so with just a central beam and one post that will look cool again and look forward to seeing what else you get to build. Xxx
SO happy you're taking out that wall. It destroyed the roomy feeling of the area. Glad you were able to recognize that it was the wrong way to go and change it back. You're a good man. Love your channel.
we always enjoy your videos.. we watch em' as a family. Thanks for taking the time to make them and take us on your. journey kiddo. Keep up the good work.
I live in northern MN, only thing I would say is frost might move those up and down in the spring… when I build decks I usually go 6’deep with sonotubes so the thaw-freeze seasons don’t move anything… awesome channel and keep on trucking! Don’t let anybody get you down! Too many keyboard warriors out there! God bless
Nice job on trying to hold up your cabin from storms. I totally agree with you about wanting that to be an open concept less having to worry about heating two rooms instead of one big room. I would love the open area better.
I wondered when you built that wall if you would like it. It really mad those rooms look so small. I think it’s gonna look beautiful with the logs you were talking about.
Great idea securing the cabin against storms. The porches will also protect the sides of the cabin from weather. Removing the center wall is a super idea.
Sure is nice seeing a honest guy just doing his best without all the phony acting, Your channel is a favorite of ours. Your doing a great job on your projects. Stay safe, Healthy and Happy.
Good idea Kyle because we had a tornado come through the first year living on my 10 acres on Leech Lake. We lost 29 trees and it missed the house & guest cabin it was around 1988 ish. 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Those anchors look pretty good. When I moved into my current home, we found that the outbuilding workshop's flat roof wasn't attached - it was literally just sat on top of the walls - we got that thing strapped on ASAP as there were gales predicted in a few days!
Good job. I've seen tornados and very bad storms judt south of you. Prevention and preparedness is good insurance against total disaster. Worked too hard to loose it
I agree that the centre wall needs to go. I remember when you built it I had the same reaction as you but I thought you just needed it for practical reasons. Those supporting poles are a much better idea and Im sure they will look great !
Very smart safety measure. Well done, and I cannot wait to see the elimination of the cabin's center wall. I agree that it will look much better. God bless.
I used a cheated. I used a gas powered post hole digger with a 8 inch auger and went down 3 feet. Then backfilled with some concrete and set the anchor on the top of the concrete and backfilled with the concrete. Then I used a piece of tube steel and made a bracket where I could lag bolt it to the foundation and welded it to the anchor. My only cost was the anchor and the cement the rest wass scrap I had laying around the house.
Like the open concept design. One idea would be to have two posts, each a quarter of the way from each end, with a counter in the middle This counter could be accessed from either side. Would create more practical kitchen use with storage underneath, and possibly a slight overhang for stools on the living room side. Still have the open space, but practical Gathering point in the middle. Just a thought..
That was very interesting how you strapped the house. I had never seen that method before. It looks great and it will help with the wind. Looking forward to to your projects in the cabin. Until your next video, take care and be safe.(Judy NB)🇨🇦🌲
Glad you are opening the room back up. I look forward to the wrap around porch. Very interesting watching you stabilize the cabin. Take care. Blessings to both of you and Skeeter.❤
Great job and good move anker down . Like that wrap around deck .and yes tear down that wall !! Open concept indeed .more open and cozy ready for old man winter!! Stock up saints

Can you make a video about why you decided to live this way? That would be awesome. Really inspiring, especially since something like this is attainable
Great job is always good to be prepared when any kind of storm that might come .Good idea removing that wall it’s going to look amazing ❤ Until your next project stay safe stay healthy stay strong ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
Good job on stabilizing your house! On that wall, you could keep support pillars, but cut the boards down to waist level, and make an island between your kitchen and living room. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week!
This world needs more young men like you in it.
Glad your securing your cabin to the ground with the weather you endure. A wrap around porch would be beautiful . 😊
That house will look wonderful with a wrap-around porch. It's a great idea of what you are doing in this entire video. GOOD JOB!!

You are such a hard worker. Your dad must be proud of you! Hope you're getting in some fishing!
It’s been my dream to live off grind like this.
Taking out that wall the best thing you could do to that cabin. Kudos to you for recognizing that mistake and being willing to correct it.
Good idea bud. Going above and beyond is something I can appreciate. You can never be to careful and it’s better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
I can’t believe you do this work, especially handling that metal strapping, without gloves! Ouch!!!
Love your channel.
Yay on losing the wall! Everything's looking awesome!!👍😎🇨🇦
The board inside the brace was a great idea for tightening the brace‼️
Bravo for taking down the wall between the kitchen and the living room. Like you, I never liked it. So much better to have one large room. Love following along as you establish your homestead.

Nice job on trying to hold up your cabin from storms. I totally agree with you about wanting that to be an open concept less having to worry about heating two rooms instead of one big room. I would love the open area better.
Thanks! Haha I’ve hated that center wall ever since I did it. It’s way better having it wide open
Straps look good. In our area we would typically pour the cabin piers with anchors in them which the beam gets bolted to.
Great job! Very interesting video. I thought I knew everything but I learned something new😊 You can teach an old dog new tricks 👍
Im glad to see the middle wall coming down! The open floor plan is so much nicer

Great move on doing away with the wall IMO.
It’s nice to see a hard working young man doing hard labor.
This was one of the best videos I have ever seen on this topic. I have to strap down a 16x40 cabin and this is super helpful. Many thanks.
Everything you do is fantastic!

I admire your practicality and awareness!
Great advice, too.
Enjoy watching video, thank you for sharing, best to you and all the projects.
Good idea removing the centre wall. It will feel larger and certainly give more light all around.
Skirt the bottom to keep the wind from lifting the cabin in higher winds.
Stay safe Kyle
Good call with the wall coming down, never liked it from the start, just didn’t look right.
Thanks for sharing. Well done sir! Keep up the hard work!
Enjoy your videos you are a hard worker
The anchor jog was interesting. Thanks.
