We should all riot for silver to have no VAT attached to it and to bring back yellow gold sovereigns 🙏🤣
If enough people got together outside the mint and started chanting maybe 🤣
as always brilliant video, all sovereigns need love ( not just the old ones ) I see that cheeky 1/4 sov has made it back on video. I know I am in a minority of one but I dont mind the newer sovs for all the reasons you mentioned in the video. Mind you the 1924 is beautiful. Love your commentary old vs new sovs. You never know if something happens to KCIII those 2024's may be worth a bit in 100 years time. Keep up the great work
Yeah I'm not sure if I'll still be around in 100 years time but maybe 😁🤞🏽The newer sovs aren't a bad option though
“….compared to that thing on the right!” I absolutely love that statement 🙆♂️.
I totally agree with your sentiment SS, thanks for your insight 👌. In my opinion, older is better :-
wine, women, cheese and sovereigns🎉.
New sovs look "dirty" compared to older ones.
When I pay £400 for a gold coin....I want it to look like gold not copper.
I now only buy pre 2000 sovs.
So much nicer.
im happy for it to be look more like copper, and not to say "gold" on it, for security
I think people care too much about how it looks, we stack really for the gold value, plus I still think they look very beautiful.
That's a solid point... I'm definitely guilty of being a bit attached to some coins although the majority is just 'the stack'
As far as looks go, I feel the modern sov is kinda flat on the relief, but its like the same flatness on other modern sovs equally, that is odd, idk how well it shows on the proofs or the doubles, but one thing the does draw me to the modern sov is the colour, i really am a sucker for anything with that "rose gold" or "bronze gold" look.
Yeah they are a lot flatter looking, a great choice if you like the rose gold kind of colour!
If you can get the special edition sovs from the last few years for the same price get those over 2024 sovs . Otherwise and tou can live with ref gold get the 2024 sov or any soverign and Britannias
I am a little bit confused, I took the new one to goldsmith and he tasted and said there is no gold in it!!! But the bullion dealer accepted them
@@SovereignSaurus yes brother it’s weird. You can do lab test on the new ones just to be sure.
Do you have an opinion on the 2024 Britannia Liberty from a collaboration of RM and the USM?
I'm not sure in terms of potential returns what will happen... I'd say the majority of 'special' sets and series don't get a lot of traction so purely based on that opinion I have I don't think I'll be buying. I'll take a closer look at them though
A gold coin should look like gold. I will never understand why the royal mint doesn't get that.
I wonder if the current news of his majesty will affect the value of these. Especially if stuff happens. Hope he gets well soon!
I wasn't aware of the news until someone commented similar. I recorded this a few weeks ago actually but it could well have an impact
How do we sell it if CBDCs are inflicted on us? (genuine question).
Thanks for the question, it's hard to answer accurately without knowing the rules, presumably dealers will be accepting whatever currencies we are all using and there will be a way to transfer peer to peer still. We'll see what the future holds
What do you think of the new D-Day landing 0.5g coins tiny things
Not something I would stack a lot of and likely to be very high premium (0.5g is about £26 worth of gold content) If you feel the premium above that is worth it for the interest and enjoyment you'll get from the coin in your collection then maybe. It'll likely be hard to realise the purchase price back in the future though
My thoughts exactly if they did a 1oz one at the rite price that would be nice to have.
From a stacking perspective, I prefer rose gold colour. An amateur thief would not recognise it as gold. Also, the sovereign does not say the word "gold" on it either, which obviously helps escape attention of a casual thief.(unlike the v obvious Britannias). In fact i would go further to say I would happily buy sprayed/disguised bullion, ie a spray that makes it look like just normal copper would be ideal. From a beauty perspective however, surely no-one can argue against the 1924 coin being far far more beautiful than the 2024 coin.
I bet a few modern sovs in a jar full of change could go unnoticed. Whether a thief would take a jar full of change I'm not sure 🤔
@@SovereignSaurus prob throw sone foreign low denomination coins in there too
Modern bullion strikes are just plain awful. Look at those lovely Gillick's by comparison.
They should go back to yellow gold
I wonder why they don't?
Maybe they are trying not to compete with yellow gold offerings like their higher premium Brits or other mints? 🤔
@@SovereignSaurus I think some executive in the mint likes rose gold.
are the premiums not lower on Britannias though? Agree they may be trying not to compete with the Britannias nonetheless
Doubt they will as the old ones none gold element was half copper and half silver whereas new ones are all copper . Copper is cheaper than silver and royal mint does love to make as much as possible
