Super nice to see Aitor on the channel with Sarah. I was lucky to meet Aitor at the Scuba Show in Long Beach, next on my list is to get picture with Sarah maybe in SLO since my daughter goes to Cal Ploy. Even better would be diving with these two - Cabo trip? Long time fan.🙂👌
Let's shoot for Cabo!! December :D So glad you got to meet him. I was bummed I wasn't in town for the show. Would be great to connect and go diving with you.
The industry is coming back. Asia is open so jobs are coming back. As always, it's more challenging to get a job as a Divemaster than as an instructor so make sure you network as you go through your course or even do your course where you might be able to get a job. Good luck!!! It's a great journey you're on
if you go fins up, and don't know where your bottom dump valve is or can't find it, maybe thick gloves, which has happened to me, thankfully I had a drysuit and was able to dump from my arm, always open, it can be tricky...
Absolutely. Adding a dry suit and gloves makes everything trickier. Gotta really practice those skills and be comfortable with your gear. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
I'm a recent OWD and loved watching those videos. Good to learn from mistakes already made. Two things I wonder about. 1. Weight distribution. Let's say I dive with 10kg. How much should I put where? As a side note, the rental BCD I had in Egypt only had regular pockets, no weight system. But once I buy my own gear I assume a weight system is a good idea. However if one or both of the weight pockets slip out for whatever reason, I suppose I'd be better off still wearing part of the weight on a belt. Also when I increased my weight from 8 to 9 and finally 10kg because I was lacking weight at the end of the dive, I found it more difficult to keep in a good horizontal position. 2. I felt really uneasy having nothing to make noise and you also point that out. What should I get though? One of those rattling sticks (with magnets inside I believe)? All the DMs had one so it could be confusing. Simply a metal stick or buckle to knock on my tank? Less handy when in real trouble. WHat do you recommend? Finally, your videos confirmed my choice to pick drift diver as one of the AOWD specialties ;)
The best option for weight distribution is to split weight between bcd and weight belt but that being said, I usually only use my weight pockets since I don't need very much weight at all. As for distributing it around your kit for trim, get your aow instructor to help you or trial and error it as you're fun diving with friends. It's definitely a balance between having enough weight to stay down and keeping trim, focus on full exhales to see if you really need the extra weight.
Second video, about weighting. Since i started sidemount i have the opposite issue. The tanks i have, with regs connected, at 700psi are a total of 21lbs negative. I'm overweighted even with a full 7mm wetsuit.
My thought, for what it's worth. Clip 1: Solve the problem on the surface. Check gear before and after every dive, and those hose protectors can hide a multitude of sins. If it's rental gear have a really, really good look! Stay with the group; if you are more than a couple of kicks away from your buddy they are not a buddy, just a spectator. From 25m down you should be able to do an emergency ascent just with the air in your lungs so don't panic, you'll be fine. Always have a DSMB and other location aids with you. If you need to surface on your own the boat may be following the main group and not see you. Clip 2: The DM did a good job recognising a problem and dealing with it. The point about the hip dump for use when you're head down is a good one; I've known divers who didn't know there was one or what it was for! I was a bit concerned with letting the guy go at 5m as that's where the biggest proportionate pressure change happens. But sometimes there's no choice and one of the other tenets of Rescue is not making yourself a second victim; one guy with DCS is better than 2! But avoid the problem before you get in the water by making sure the belt is tight enough that it won't get loose as your suit compresses as you descend. And if divers can get used to swimming horizontally, apart from all the other benefits if you are flat in the water the belt isn't going to slip over your hips and be lost. Clip 3: Everything you said! Some good behaviour and skills in evidence, but some quite the opposite. Clip 4: Seeing you laugh Sarah is so great. I once watched a girl do a somersault off a dive boat. She came up with no mask and the reg trailing in the water. Great fun, we all laughed. Except it was fortunate the DM had gone round checking everyone's gas was on and BC inflated. Otherwise she'd have been heading down to a 150 ft bottom with no vision and nothing to breathe from. She'd done no pre-dive checks because it's all about the video and a good time. As it was the only casualty was a rental mask. Diving is meant to be fun but....
If one dives with a Marseilles Buckle Rubber Belt, it won't come off accidently. The rubber depth compensates for wetsuit compression, and won't slide around. The long buckle prong, won't come out of hole in belt, unless purposely released.
Number 1 is the reason you dive with 2 regulators on 2 first stages on 2 valves. Hose bursts? Switch regulator, close the wrong valve, reach surface in full security.
Azul Komodo is open! Check out their new website and start planning your trip to Indonesia 🤙 azulkomodo.com
Awesome I will check it out
I loved it
you are the best!!
Glad to see this back :)
So happy to be back! Looking forward to some more projects together
Great video. I agree. That last one looks like it hurt.
Belly flops in scuba gear... not signing up for that one!
Oh man. Ouch. That last one. Good to see you guys together in a video again.
Thanks! It was really nice to record together again 🙏

Hey. Lobos at the end!
Yeah!!! It was a great dive 🤙
I hear it's a new padi specialty course!!🤣🤣🤣
Hey, if you can make a buck teaching it, good on you 🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪
Hi, how is the diving industry in 2022?
I am planning to do my divemaster course next month. How hard it would be to find a job as a divemaster?

As for now maker, I think a clip is good enough. You can make noise but you're not constantly rattling
@@AzulUnlimited thanks for your quick reply 🙂

Diving with steel tanks right? I've mostly seen people dive AL tanks for sidemount for that reason.
Hello again its me again Everett keep up the great work
Hi Everett! Thanks so much for watching :)
Hello Aitor!!
Good to have him back on the channel :)
My thought, for what it's worth.

Absolutely 🤙 thanks for watching and sharing your experience/point of view. Here's to some more laughs 😅🤪

Great point but I’m guessing price point keeps those outside the realm of possibility for dive shop rental gear
Splits in vortex current... Video number 2... second accident i think.. you should make this kind of videos more.. it helps a lot
Glad it was helpful. Will find some more interesting videos to do 🙏
Monitorizing? :)
ESL woes
You got what he was saying 🤪
where is number 4 of accidents :)
Maybe we’ll put one together while I’m here in Mexico 😁

Absolutely. #1 reason why I love sidemount
Oh my, now that was funny. I'm def NOT gonna try that boat exit.
It's a big NOPE from me too. No thanks :)
Really guys? I thought this was going to be a serious vid.
Sorry you were disappointed 😅
