That would suggest that your magnesium levels are quite high 😬 if you run out of solution and it hasn’t changed color, your mg levels are either high, or else your mg2 solution could be expired. That happens sometimes too ☺️
@@tylerhuxford44 Thank you very much for answering, I will have to check again because my LFS says 1240 mg. Actually I'm new to this, I'll have to check another store to be sure, thank you very much 👍👍
I use Hanna for alkalinity and calcium testing, and I’ve heard the same thing 😬 I’m going to keep using the remainder of my Hanna tests and then make a switch to see what happens
the liquid need to be at 8.5(with plunger at 1) before you test .. if you are at 8 or 9 the result will change !! make sure you are at 8.5 with all salifert test before testing
Don't think this is quite correct, pretty sure if the liquid line is at 8 or 9 it won't effect the dose as long as you have the base of the plunger at the 1ml line.. you will still use the same amount of solution when titrating... unless you are using all of the syringe, which nobody does, and if you do, your water has problems
@@skeptics_reef5575 Just the plunger end position matters. Air pockets reflect the tip air volume and has no bearing on fluid dispensed (Randy answer ) .. i need to test to compare if both scenario have the same results ( and yes i use the pink tip )
5 tests in about 10 minutes. 0.16, 0.14, 0.19, 0.18... :) Every time I do 3-5 tests and the results are different :) I Just believe it's something around average of these results :)
Thank you you are the BEST!
Thank you 👊
This was really helpful! Thanks Tyler!
Very good video, thanks for the explanation, one question, what happens if the first ml of mg2 goes and I have to add a little more?

Do you have a video for the new calcium also other videos the fluid should be at 0.85mm when the plunger is at 1mm
Not yet! Admittedly, I usually use the RedSea Calcium test. But I’ve received this request before! So let me see if I can make one here soon 💪
Pro Tip: Squirt the remaining titration fluid *unused, back into the bottle to be used next time.
Great tip 💪
I’ve found the Salifert test kits align with my ICP. My Hanna checkers haven’t been that reliable.

Hopefully this was helpful fan! So many people don’t know how to read this right 😩
Hi. I'm trying to follow ur steps for testing magnesium and it's not turning blue. What does it means? I tried twice.
Wish I was there to see 😕 but it could mean your magnesium levels are even higher than the chart can show
@tylerhuxford3440 but I don't dose mag at all... so how do I bring it down? Does it means it's bad for high mag?
Like to add, do NOT try to remove the air pocket from the device that gets your water sample.
Straight wisdom. Thank you!

I take a drink for each time you say "bottom" and now i''m druuumkc.... tank you
🤣🤣🤣🤣
What does it mean if the water turns blue right after adding the mg1?
Yes. What does this mean? Happened with me too.😢
Could potentially mean your magnesium levels are very low!
@@tylerhuxford44 is there a way to determine that is the case?
is this the new one ? maybe i was doing something wrong because the salifert one gives me crazy high readings
It is the new one! The new one doesn’t have a “tip” on the plunger. If you don’t have the new one, odds are yours is expired 😬
So people don't read instructions then?
The instructions on this one isn’t super clear 😅 atleast what I’ve found
@@tylerhuxford44 fair enough
Nice tank , can you pls tell me your tank dimensions
119 gallons!
Look up the Red Sea Max 500S, that will give you all the parameters your looking for 💪☺️
