" You're going to learn something now".....Thank you very much. Have a great day.
You know it is a Friday when Ronnie has the Super Lube out and talking about the Gobble Hole. You can't get much better than that. The 2010 Geneva Pinball convention made it an international war crime to put LED bulbs in any pinball machine produced before 1995. I know that is 100% true because I just made it up ;) love these old school games. Thanks for filming all that you didn't have to do that!
I quite like these slower machines! This is lovely, many thanks as always.
Thank you too!
I will just say hat's off to you guys for trying to keep nostalgia going. Like many here I played alot of these games.
Loved the talk about lightbulbs
Cheers Ronnie. Thanks for sharing. EMs are my favourites. Regards
Same here!
That's a really cool machine. Gobble holes are such in clever design/scoring/game-ball ending feature. Looks terrific. Thanks for making the video series.
I look at it as your laying the foundation for the next guy.Dont get me wrong, you did great!
That's a great way to look at it!
Nice work... PLEASE do the Mario pinball next so we can see a proper Italian bottom 😁
Have also been rooting for Mario!
RON, WITCH IS HOW FIRES START.
First I looked for replays and then the bonus score carry over. Never saw 26 but most were limited to 15 or 18 in the 1950s and 60s where I played. Great stuff as always. I want to find a Gottlieb Gusher from ~1958!
It’s a Williams game.
My guess is that the large girls on the playfield are tourists, getting into the spirit of the luau. The girls on the plastics are native Hawaiians--teaching the dance moves and customs to the tourists. People in 1961 used to enjoy visitors being interested enough in their cultures to join along and have fun.
I like your perspective on that.
Thanks for another great video Ron! I’ve had this game for years. It’s awesome for some two player action going back and forth with the bonus ladders!
Another t-shirt idea there; “Just deal with it!” Regards
I love going “under the hood”
Also, Roy Parker did the Art on this machine.
3:20 I wonder if it would be possible to use a Bondo spreader, or maybe a plastic foot ruler to help flatten the cellophane further so in these areas with no paint you don't end up with visible creasing in the clear coat.
LOVE this video too!
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Joe's Classic - now hold up, what's that ticking sound? It's throwing me off. I can't make an announcement while this handsomely appointed Rolenx wristwatch keeps ticking and ticking, and it's available at Amazon right now for a very reasonable cost. Wait a second til I get my watch off, I don't want it to get dirty - Video Games, back with another cool pinball repair video for you this evening."
I see what you did there. Very slick. 😉
Thanks! I really appreciate your videos. They’ve emboldened me to go out and buy a machine, actually up to three now!
That’s awesome! Glad you're having a good time with them :)
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Joe's Classic repair , IT'S BROKE,,,,,,
Just seeing the thumbnail of the pinball machine I knew I had to watch the video.
You should replace the hold relays with solid state versions. No more cooking coils or noise. Not that expensive, either
Neyens and Parker were Gottlieb’s A Team for game design and art. ….As good as it gets.
We gotta get the younguns to understand this! Wayne lived to be ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR, sometimes designed 15 games a year. What a legendary man.
Holy crap, what a rant against LEDs hahaha! They have their place but so does authenticity and affordability. I'm glad the small incandescents are still available. :-)
For sure! I just like the old style better.
Normally I'm a huge fan of LEDs because I mostly work on modern games and I like the reduced heat so the connectors don't burn. But for EMs? Yeah, original bulbs all the way.
I actually discovered a happy medium between the two when I was working on a Capcom Breakshot pinball! Can't put LEDs in the controlled lamps or they flicker and there's no OCD board available for this game. So, all I could do was the GI. The game is very old school (even has the reels on the DMD), so I didn't want it to be flashy. As it turns out, Comet sells "retro bullet bulbs" that look pretty close to old school bulbs but have the benefits of LEDs and they aren't too bright. Highly recommend if you ever need to use LEDs but want that incandescent glow.
Ron got more watches than clocks lol
Those economy ghost buster LEDs at pinball life are actually a great deal and a great product. My go to LED for games I’m refurbishing. But I don’t like LEDs in EMs.
Just so we're clear I don't hate you for liking LED's :) I've always found all Pinball Life's stuff to be a good deal so I'm not surprised those LED's are good ones.
@@LyonsArcade No worries! Keep doing what you’re doing ! Your games always turn out great.
There’s no way to lose the ball down the sides - just down the middle and the gobble hole….So, there’s only two places to lose the ball…..no point whining about the gobble hole. I think 5his game deserves a good backglass. Maybe the customer will be motivated after getting it back and enjoying playing it.
If I was going to sell it (or keep it) my next steps would have been:
1. Clean the playfield, rerubber it
2. New purple pop cap
3. Remove the legs, get rid of the bent one, paint them dark grey (like the Ballys)
4. There is a red paint accent missing from the backbox face that would really work wonders
5. New flipper links
6. New Backglass
It would take it from a 4 to an 8!
maybe disable some/all of the light bulbs behind the backglass cluster of dancers in lower right?
Everybody's wants to be Virginia Beach.
A real pinball machine deserves real light bulbs!
Ron, the purple top bumper cap looked damage. Will the customer allow you to replace it?
The bonus stay for the next game might be by design to get the same player to put in another dime.
Obviously setting us up for something with these watch references….
So I have to wonder how much of a physical brake force the electrical spark is across the snowshoe connection .
Rubber is a pretty good insulator, but I watched a crane truck hit a high voltage line, and every tire caught on fire where they touched the pavement, no one was injured.
👍👍👍😎☕
First ! ❤
Thanks for watching!
What's the deal with the watch gags ? 😂😂😂
How much for the mario pinball!!!!? I need that!!!!
Algorithm comment 😊
The only gripe I have with incandescent bulbs is that they burn too hot and cook the crap out of the back glass
JOES CLASSIC, Does all Stepper Units have "LOCKIN Switch"? I haven't heard you mention about Lockin Switches before so I don't know what the difference between a Lockin Switch Compared to an EOS Switch?
I bought those regular bulbs from China and every time I turned the machine on another bulb was burned out. I ordered them from Amazon and they seemed super sketchy poor quality so that may have been the problem. Do they make USA bulbs?
Unfortunately they don't make USA bulbs, or USA LED's
How many watches do you own that one has what's a white face and the last video you did it the watch had a red face
I'm waiting for this whole "watch" arc to resolve itself, I'm quite sure there's more to come... :-)
So you could wire a switch to the missing relay as a manual "reset" button maybe? On the led replacements, they're not always reliable and they cost more. I've been stung so many times falling for the idea. And no! The super dupers still quit = scam in my book. My son's older mazda truck has led replacements in the gauges to look extra fancy. Half have quit already. The Japanese originals were still working at 25 years when removed. No fun replacing those again. He's on his own. Yeah, led's look good - when they're working. Cheers.
I agree 100% Like anything, it's sold to people with a sales pitch, and unfortunately a lot of it is snake oil.
I like the LEDs. While regular are less expensive, you’ll also save electricity with LEDs. 😉 Will it make up the difference…..depends on how much the machine is one. I’ve replaced all but the flashers on my High Speed with LEDs.
@@R23HTC Years ago I replaced all the 1156 house lights in our older rv. the The original 12volt bulbs were still working. I thought, great, it'll save power and look nicer. Cost about 20 dollars - probably three times the cost of edison bulbs. They looked a bit nicer. Less than six months later, two of them started flickering. I bought more. Then another went out till half needed replacing. I figured they were cheap. Second batch from different maker. Same thing only these failed even quicker. Yeah. I saved power because half didn't work, hahaha. The power saving isn't really noticeable anyway. Long life and power saving was a government sales pitch. Maybe power savings on headlights but I've been down that road too. They burn out or start flickering as well, cost way more than halogen, often difficult to fit and can get you in trouble as they're illegal to use if car isn't designed for them. I went back to halogen a few years ago. No problems since. Not as bright though. Oh well. Cheers.
@@jimp.7286 yeah. I had changed the Halogen to LED on my Colorado because they were MUCH brighter and better. When one went out it was replaced under warranty. For headlights it’s a safety issue as well.
@@R23HTC Sorry for long post ahead. Yes. Safety. You can legally change every bulb on your car to led,...except the headlights. This was how it was explained to me. Older headlight reflector housings are designed for a light-bulb radiating in all directions, (ie; edison style bulb), Leds emit light from a chip. Sometimes two sides. The problem with the wrong bulb in a housing is for other motorists. In the wrong reflector housing they can reflect into oncoming motorist's eyes or spray bright light way out of the pattern,....and adjustment won't always help. This doesn't mean they won't have a legal replacement at some point. Just not now. They're allowed for off road use. That said, a lot of folks are using them and the police don't usually do anything....unless they're looking for a reason that is. Yes. They're much better for older folks like me to see at night. But I got tired of replacing them and getting high-beamed by other motorists. The last one to burn out - I went to halogen. Tired of the hassle and trying to make them fit with the little fan on the backside. Cheers again.
Did somebody complain about you wearing a watch???
Nah I'm just messing around
I'll watch your videos but from now on I'm turning the volume down. Your comments about 1961 being around the time we discovered fire are making us people feel old.
You forgot one calculation when discussing LED vs Incandescent bulbs. Incandescent bulbs use significantly power to operate than LED bulbs do. By my calculations if you use LED bulbs and none burn out. You will recoup your investment in the form of a lower electricity bill in approximately 22.5 years running the machine 24/7/365. So, obviously LEDs are much better! 😎
We all know the bulbs are only going to be lit up about 10 hours a year
Aaaahahahaha I suspected you bleeped what you bleeped.
Hm, are we supposed to... watch... out for something?
