    Random Funfact: There are exactly 3 Cards in the Game that have the cost that is used to explain Charmed Pendant. At the time it was printed, there were 2: Spinal Embrace, first printed in invasion and Princess Lucrezia, first prined in Legends.

      Just if you care, the 3rd one is Wrexial, the Risen Deep, seen first in Worldwake

    For the people who are probably wondering for charmed pendant: If it’s a hybrid mana symbol, you choose the color for each symbol. If it’s Phyrexian mana, add the corresponding color.

    • @wikidclowne6891
      @wikidclowne6891 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, to add to that, even though it is a mana ability you can't use it to pay for things while something is resolving on the stack (say from Bramble Sovereign's triggered ability). This is because paying those costs are happening during the resolution of that ability and you can only use the Pendant when you could cast an instant (which you can't do during a spell/ trigger resolving).

    • @dantemalick2872

      @@wikidclowne6891 you can use it in response to the ability going on to the stack so in not sure what you are saying would affect anything

    • @wikidclowne6891
      @wikidclowne6891 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dantemalick2872 while you can use it in response to the ability hitting the stack, there can be cases where the difference matters. When
      When the trigger goes on the stack, you have to hold priority and use it then. Your opponent could then Stifle the ability knowing that your planning on putting mana into it.
      If you wait for the ability to resolve to hide whether your going to pay for it, you couldn't use Charmed Pendant you'd have to use a different mana ability.
      Another example would be an ability like Join Forces if used by your opponent. If you want to use the mana from Charmed Pendant to pay for it, you'd have to activate in response. Doing so let's the table know your intention. Normally, Depending on your turn order you may get to see what everyone else pays into it before you decide to.
      I guess the long short of it is it could give your opponent a little more info. In casual this is pretty inconsequential. But I just wanted to explain what it means for a mana ability to be only usable as an instant.

    Can confirm Cloud Cover is amazing, especially if your stuff has nice ETB's. It doesn't help much if you're trying to protect a card like Solitary Confinement, but it's amazing if it's protecting an Avenger of Zendikar, or big Dragon or something.

    I've got Cloud Cover in my Reaper King deck. It protects my creatures and if any of my scarecrows are targeted I get the ETB triggers again as a bonus.
    I've also got Citanul Flute in my Zedruu deck which is red, white, and blue like you mentioned the flute would be good in. I use it to tutor creatures like Steel Golem to "gift" to my opponent. I also use Skyship Weatherlight which is another nice colorless tutoring artifact.

    If you're just after the protection effect for your commander, Voyager Staff is a much better option than Cold Storage. 1 to play, 2 to use, as opposed to 4 to play, 3 to use. Cold Storage can save multiple creatures though, which is relevant against wraths and the like.

    Well, I made it. Save maybe about 5 or 6 videos, I'm pretty much caught up entirely. In the past month or so, I've brewed quite a few decks.
    > Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel // Esior, Wardwing Familiar bootleg Brago. It runs Thousand-Year Elixir, because Livio taps. First Azorius brew.
    > Prava of the Steel Legion // Halana, Kessig Ranger tokens and deathtouch. Selesnya bores me to tears, but I FINALLY brewed something worthwhile. Also a first.
    > Nadier, Agent of the Duskenel // Miara, Thorn of the Glade mono black elves. Your videos about it definitely inspired me. I'm still improving it.
    > Ghost of Ramirez DePietro // Tormod, the Desecrator... toolbox and self mill? I didn't have Ravos, Soultender, so I improvised. Thanks again.
    > Radiant, Serra Archangel // Alharu, Solemn Ritualist +1/+1 counters and flyers. Your video "What White Does Best" inspired me to do a non-aura partner brew.
    > Keleth, Sunmane Familiar // Falthis, Shadowcat Familiar +1/ +1 counters and Orzhov/Silverquill goodies. Felisa, Fang of Silverquill is in the 98.
    I do have just the one copy of Icatian Moneychanger, but I'm still looking through my collection for more counter based stuff before I can rightfully give him a spot in the brew. I managed to find an Oona's Blackguard, so that's cool. I want to find ways to get first strike, doublestrike, and more deathtouch stuff going to work with Falthis and other cards I want to add in.
    Thanks a bunch for the inspiration and making EDH fun again, even though I haven't played since March of 2020. I'm looking forward to seeing some of that Adventures in the Forgotten Realms goodness.

    instant artifact removal can destroy Cold Storage while the exile effect is on the stack so you use/lose Cold Storage then exile the creature with its ability (with no way to get it back). Its more resources for your opponent if they needed to get rid of a creature twice, but using it to flicker does have this possible drawback.

    YES! Choice of damnations is one of my favorite cards, also has my very favorite flavor text ever. It's pretty good in a deck where you are aggroing early, so your opponent(s) will likely have stabilized the board without much life left, so this is a fantastic game closer. Ice Age card, only printed once, nice addition for a 'Control opponents combat step' style deck, such as Thantis, The War Weaver or Tahngarth, First Mate, or even something like Odric, Master Tactician. Choose a creature on opponents board, they can pay it's Mana Value to counter this ability (Yay, I messed with your mana!) and if they do not, the creature MUST attack this turn. If it does not, it is destroyed. So they can't just tap the creature to protect it from the ability! Check it out!

    I hate to be that guy, BUT
    2:58 It's actually very disappointing when you use it. An opponent will count only the permanents they absolutely need and give you that number. Afterwards, it's not much of a choice, because they either sacrifice stuff they don't need or lose some life, and "target opponent loses 1 life for each permanent they control-ish" is actually not very good for 6 mana.
    Want to make them pay life and sacrifice important stuff? Get Torment of Hailfire. Want to get on crazy mindgame jank? Goblin Game is the card you want. Not this, not really.
    Unless you have some cool Arcane synergies in mind, but that would require some good Splice Into Arcane cards to be printed.

      @@edhdeckbuilding true, you get all creatures back under your control, even the ones you don't own! It is a bit strange though, when you compare it to other "similar" cards, for example Safe Haven or Endless Sands. So this is the only of these cards that would be good in a "steal opponent's creatures" deck. And it seems absolutely random how they wroth cards back in the day :)
