2 - 2:3O mins is the average time of a song for me in prime time. If a song unpopular and people don't react to that it might be shorter. BUT if a song unpopular and people like it I let the song to play longer and I introduce people with that.
I play most all songs as they were written, I hate those DJs who megamix constantly. We are all different, most hot music these days are under 3 minutes anyway. I've looped out plenty of tracks and created a cool transition but in general I play it. I'm small town Open format though so it works here. Mostly lol
I play a lot of house music and afro house so the crowd I usually DJ for I can let the track play almost to the end. But I always make my mix by observing the crowd and see if they are in to it I let it play longer if not I mix sooner. Good video..
I enjoy listen in. Now my replay to the topic. I am with you on the hot tracks and the ones u got to let it play from time to time to make sure you get the crowd into it. So my big thing it play the ones that the crowd that knows the music and very well before you get to the hype of the track. I learn that when I was DJing on Tiny Chat (Video Chat Room) I was reading into those cameras on how the person reacts to the music I play good or bad, So that made me get ready for what comes next. So I am totally with you on this on TLM and I am going share this out with few of the groups pages I am on. Funk Up Salute Peace.
At weddings and private events three and a half minutes, school dances and clubs, 2 minutes or less. The exception to the rule is line dances and songs the crowd is singing along to loudly.
My bad. Been checking your your channel and podcast and noticed slight silence. Thought the prep for your dj course was keeping occupied.Lookin forward to seeing it and hoping i can afford it(my country has a weak currency ) ☹️Every thing of the best djtlm.
I play fast hard electronic music like breakcore, hardcore techno, terrorcore, speedcore, as well as some longer tracks like in darkstep dnb. But due to the average length being around 3-4 minutes total, I generally start on the first or second drop (depending on total track length) and play around 40-60 seconds blended with the previous track. Then 30-45 seconds on average solo without blends, then another 40-60 seconds blending with the new track. So on average there is a new track playing every 1:15-1:45. I would prefer if 3x deck setups were more common at venues as you can fit even more tracks in (or be able to never have a moment unblended etc).
I love going off of the vibe and connecting with the people and see what they're feeling. Where I struggle though is in FINDING my tracks. Now I am an avid Traktor DJ, I love the layout and I find it works best for me. I take a lot of time to organize my playlists but sometimes I still find it as a huge struggle to get to (find) the song in time before the previous one ends. Any suggestions on how to make it a little easier on myself?
I like when DJ's mix a 1 minute or 2 minute song longer than 2 minutes the song gets boring Chicago DJ's mix like that those famous DJ's they mix the whole song annoying I seen girl DJ's playing the whole song as well annoying I mean why would you mix the whole song?
I've been making videos for DJcity for 3 years now ;) I haven't uploaded on my channel for the last 3 weeks because I've been working on my DJ course. More vids are coming soon
2/3mins for warm up, ~1:30mins for primetime, 2/3mins for warmdown, let last few songs play in full potentially
2:20 "If the energy is up and I drop a track" the words are perfect on the beat

Songs are getting shorter for sure! I'm seeing a lot of 2-minute songs now. They do that to get more replays on streaming services.
@@djTLMtv yup, it's the 30 second Spotify rule

At weddings and private events three and a half minutes, school dances and clubs, 2 minutes or less. The exception to the rule is line dances and songs the crowd is singing along to loudly.

What about holiday parties?
Usually around 4 minutes since I mainly spin house
Yup, that is a different ballgame. With Hip Hop and R&B 4 minutes would be like forever ;)
One girl rashed on me cuz I played The Whole song.
Cool
2mins max for me. Normally about 1min 40sec approx.
3-3:30 over here.
What made you come to Amsterdam, your partner or you crazy for those herbs?
If you are playing a CD 💿 you’re able to play it as long as and as many times you want, NO restrictions 💿💿💿💿💿
lol
If the crowd love the song, dont cut it... what an advice.
