Excellent How-To Video!!! Your step by step instructions were very easy to follow! I just paused at each step of the process. I replaced both my old battery and the broken screen at the same time.
CAUTION!!! Make sure you are wearing EYE PROTECTION during the screen removal step. I had the screen shatter on the edge I was prying on and it ALMOST sent micro glass fragments into my eye! It JUST missed going into my eye and hit my lower eye lid instead! I also overheated the battery, and it swole up so much that I though it might burst or catch fire on me (I forgot lithium batteries DO NOT like HEAT...), so I let it cool a while before I pried it out. BE SAFE and learn from MY mistakes! Also, wear gloves when handling the phone when you are heating it with your heat gun so you do not get burned!

for parts like these you can usually find them on ebay, just make sure you're buying from a reliable seller and contact them before purchasing a screen replacement. as for water resistance, you lose that when you open your phone regardless. it's fine if you spill a little liquid on it, it just can't be submerged or anything like that.

LCD screen i bought wont turn on when only pugging in the ribbon. Are there other contacts required for it to work?

Does it really need the b9000 applied? I thought the replacement screen had preinstalled sticky tape?

Good job. That component on the back of the LCD I believe is the piezo-electric speaker. This phone produces sound directly through screen as well as the bottom speaker.

How different/difficult is it to replace just the front glass?

If i just have some surface level scratches/cracks do i still need to replace the entire lcd or can i just buy new glass?
new glass is more complex task and need machinery , i advice to install a tempered glass with UV glue and you will not notice the scratches anymore

Unfortunately the crack has reached the panel and killed a pixel. Upper screen is not funtional in a vertical line. The lcd cost 125 plus tax. I will have to wait till the place comes down. Good luck everyone!!

is replacing only the glass doable? my g8 has a hairline crack on the glass, the oled and digitizer work fine

@@caesarnoriega7526 yes, so you can separate the glass from the lcd panel using heat and carefully separating it. But without a special heat plate you run the risk of using too much heat and burning the lcd panel ir too little and bending the panel when you're separating the glass. I did it with a heat gun and it worked but i knew it was probably going to fail and was ready to buy the whole screen assembly

@@dharma760did it work? Forgive me if this is a stupid question but how is the glass attached to the digitizer? When you put it back together do have to use some kind of clear adhesive to 'fuse' it back again. Details would be appreciated. I cracked my glass but digitizer's or LCD is fine & responsive. Not afraid to try to fix myself (with the knowledge I may break something & have to replace entire screen anyway), but would like to check before going in. Thanks. 😊

LG assembled the LG G8 thinQ in a way where both the display and glass must be replaced. It's sadly not possible.

Replacement screen is $160. Not even worth it. You can buy a new G8 for $200.
What is the temperature you use on the heat gun?
This is automatic heat gun temperature is about 350°C is Big nozzle heat gun .

How I repair dual screen..it is not working....means left side screen is not working.
You need to replace the the complete screen
I always wipe the lenses in case finger print or dust gets on it repairing. Nice job man.
